Default Bernard Chang is giving away GLC artwork

Bernard Chang messaged me today and let me know that he's giving away some of his original GLC artwork to fans who buy an extra copy of GLC 40 and gifts it to someone. You have to use Instagram and here's all the details for anyone who might be interested - Blog of Oa.

He's only running this until 3/16 but thought I'd share here for anyone who might be interested.

Oh my god, you don't like Bernard Chang's art!? Huh!? o__O

He is incredible to me:

I would really do this, but I buy my monthly comics digitally and my trades online.

his art is average especially the faces, it's the colors that make it great.

I think his art is better than Billy Tan's, but it is the colors that make it stand out. Neat that he is doing this.

This is pretty cool. Too bad I'm not crazy about the way he draws John's face. Sometimes he looks like a bad stereotype with a gigantic nose and thick lips.

...and can SOMEONE please give John a decent fade?

Except when it gets randomly colored all red. I am so tired of that gimmick.

I think his John Stewart is usually good looking.

Bernard Chang is really good. He's far removed from the DC Comics house style, which I'm honestly tired of. It's not that it's bad or that the people who employ it aren't talented, it's just so... typical comic book art. I like that Chang's art has more of a cartoon style, but without sacrificing detail. It's really unique and distinctive... and attractive! I think Chang contributes a lot to giving Green Lantern Corps a fun and adventurous vibe. He does an especially great job at depicting different alien cultures. I Love his Shadow Market and planet Muz, for example.

Yeah, the Shadow Market was pretty cool. I remember talking about that when the issue came out.

While I can't speak to his GL art much, beyond how cool this act is, he's just as cool in person. He hooked me up with a (free) sketch at WonderCon a year or two ago at the DC Booth and even though he had a pretty big ass line, he took his time and talked some Miami Heat basketball, etc. Just really down to Earth super cool and accommodating. That's got to be worth a little!
