Been reading both IDW Godzilla books. They're a bit expensive ($4, standard for IDW), but fun. I like this one---the ongoing (Kingdom of Monsters)---but the limited "Gangsters and Goliaths" is even cooler and works with current continuity. It finishes next month.

Just watched Godzilla Raids Again (1955) the first sequel (to Godzilla/Gojira). It's pretty much as good as the first but adds to that a nice scene of Osaku rebuilding itself (which feels more poignant since the tsunami) and the first monster battle: Godzilla (here called Gigantus) vs. Anguirus (a favorite of mine).

Godzilla Raids Again certainly has had quite a strange life over here in the States. First it was going to be a film titled, "The Volcano Monsters" that would have ignored anything related to Gojira/Godzilla: King of the Monsters, THEN it was turned into Gigantis: The Fire Monster where it was clearly a continuation of Godzilla, right down to actual footage of that film being used, though inexplicably it's STILL called 'Gigantis'.

Years later, it finally gets a VHS release (I only know of the GoodTimes version, which is the one I have) where the box has Godzilla Raids Again, though the film retains the 'Gigantis' title, and now thanks to the Classic Media release, the film FINALLY has the Godzilla Raids Again title.

Saw the MST3K version of Godzilla vs. Megalon.
Some pretty funny stuff. Strange that Jet Jaguar is so popular and yet was only in one film.

To answer my own question, there is an online Kaiju encyclopedia, but they're only up to "F." Some of you guys could probably write this stuff (*Space Cop looks over at Lex*).

Also, so good info at the Kaiju fan Web site.

I'm still trying to learn a lot of the names and distinguish the different eras by their suit. A lot of these movies I haven't seen since I was a little tyke.

Oh, no. I have the entire Ultraman collection on DVD. I just thought Jet Jaguar was in more than just one Godzilla flick.

Funny how Jet looks like a combination of Ultraman and Spectreman.

He was designed by a kid in a competition so being derivative was to be expected. I still wish that they had kept in the idea that he's King Kong in a robot suit.

Reptilicus is certainly a film that has to be seen to be believed.

Definately not the highest quality Kaiju-type movie out there, but it's charming in that 'so bad it's good' kinda way. Like when Reptilicus eats a cartoon farmer.
