I love seeing the local news' "first coverage" of "The Consumer Electronics Show" and I'm like "saw that on TWiT, saw that on Engadget, saw that on Gizmodo" lol

Can't sit and listen to the announcements and commentary, I can just keep a page on auto refresh and go back and catch up when time permits. Besides I just try and stick to my routine, ya know

So, the Verizon iPhone has been announced. It will be available in a month. My question is:

Will this fix AT&T? Will it break Verizon? Both? Neither?

I doubt it will fix AT&T anytime soon because they have locked in contracts with their iPhone users. I'm curious to see how Verizon will handle the iPhone burdens/demands on their network.

When my wife contracts expires with AT&T we plan to transfer to Verizon because of AT&T's poor network.

i will play the wait and see game, i've always been a non iphone type of person, but every fucking thing in the world is made for it so when the time comes i'll weigh my options. My wife wanted one, but now she says she tired of touch screens so we'll see. We're only a few months away from the time when they would announce the I5 so i wonder if vz will get that at launch of have to wait.

I vote neither. Verizon's 4G network is still under construction and there's the question as to whether or not Verizon will get the Iphone 5 this summer or have to wait until next January- assuming their contract is similar to AT&T's.

I wanted an iPhone back in the day, but to be honest, I like Android's flexibility of what content I put on and use. To get the same usability on iPhone, I'd have to jailbreak it and break warranty.

Fuck all that.

Almost the same here. My wife's contract with AT&T ends in September.

I'll probably be getting the wife the Iphone 4 on VZW, we have an upgrade and Android is too complex for her. She wants a phone that she can put music on and check the internet with ease. I am anti apple so I'll be getting the Motorola Bionic in March

haha, touchscreens are basically the only option still around. Unless she wants a shitphone or a Blackberry.

well, the iPhone is 3G-only (for now. Both AT&T and Verizon have LTE, so we'll see about i5).

Honestly, if I had the money, I'd have both... I mean, I do, but my iPhone is first-gen. I want an iPad or an iPod Touch solely because I have tons of iPhone apps that iPaid for ( ) and can't use now.

I'm a big fan of my Android, but fragmentation does cause a few problems. My family's contract ran out almost a year ago, and even if we do get a new one, I'm going to try to keep my phone, because I just dropped $500 on it. lol

Fragmentation is the result of actually having a choice in hardware. So I don't really view it as being bad...

my question is, will it have the same reception problems from holding, and covering up the antennae? was that fixed already, or is it now something vzw peoples are going to have to deal with?

VZW is getting a newer version with the anttena being moved, you won't need to hold it in a specific way nor will you need a case for it.

wooohooo! I did hear it's not 4G which is an obvious ploy to make people upgrade after they've already bought the original.

Isn't that Apples motto? Sell what they can now, revise, refine, re-sell at your expense

definitely part of their business model... hopefully they revised the part about their iphone not working as a phone.

Like the original iPhone that didn't have 3G despite EVERYTHING ELSE having 3G.

Tru dat! That's why I'm holding out on the iPad. I'm waiting for a camera, more memory and a USB port. All things I'm sure the next generation iPad will have since their competing tablets feature those things.
