I wasn't taking unjustified blows at religion. The Bible is a work of fiction which contains in some parts less-than-pleasant material, and rather than maintain a cool and reasonable head, this idiot buys wholesale into them and is attempting to force his warped viewpoints on others.

His problem isn't religion, and it never was. He's simply using some parts of religion as a vehicle to carry out a personal agenda against something he neither understands nor likes. He's taking the seedier parts of a book meant to inspire people to better lives and burying himself in them.

Yeah, that's the broad brush I'm talking about, portraying scripture as fiction. I get that plenty of people feel that way, and truth be told, I also feel that way about the scriptures of some religions as well (though I won't be specific, as I stay out of Qward specifically to avoid that sort of argument). But taking general slams at religious belief (which is what calling scripture a work of fiction is, no matter how "justified" you feel in doing so, and I'm pretty sure you know that, Agent Purple) seems to me like something we should probably confine to Qward.

Mods are free to disagree with me, if they so choose, but frankly I'm not sure what the point of Qward is if that sort of blatant provocation on what is generally recognized as a touchy subject is kosher in the regular forums. If stuff like that is fine in the regular forums as long as the person saying it thinks it is "justified" then what IS Qward material? Who says stuff even in Qward that they DON'T think is justified?

And to be clear, I've absolutely no objection to the notion of posting religious people being idiots in this thread. I'll be the first to admit that my faith (and all faiths for that matter, I assume, and those that lack any faith) has their share of idiots.
