  • Saw Ant-Man and The Wasp. Laughed a lot more then the first, Scott and Hope had some great banter, the action was awesome (that climactic Frisco car Chase is genuinely thrilling), and Ghost was a terrific antagonist.

Also whatever you do Marvel, give Michael Pena his own spinoff.

          • Superman IV: The Quest for Peace (1987)

            "Is he for real?"

            The Changeling (2008)

"I used to tell Walter, 'Never start a fight, but always finish it.' I didn't start this fight, but, by God, I'm going to finish it."

A very-good, but hard-to-watch Eastwood movie based on a real case.

            • Still in prep-mode for G-Fest XXV (leaving for Chicago Wednesday with the con officially starting Friday):

              Godzilla vs. Gigan (1972)

"Why?! Why did the machines go wrong?"

              Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995)

              "What radioactivity!"

              • Really offbeat "black comedy" of sorts, set in and around North Carolina. Not sure I really enjoyed it, but I did like the father / son relationship, and Josh Brolin (though I'm definitely feeling a bit Brolin fatigue this year), I guess I appreciated it for what it is was, even if in all honesty it only got some laughs out of me.

                  • The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2009 Swedish version)

Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943)

                    House of Frankenstein (1944)

I'll put up reviews tomorrow because I want to watch House of Dracula as well and get another set of Universal Classic Horror films complete (this set being Frankenstein, with only two Dracula flicks being left and then that's everything except Invisible Man, which I don't own).

                    • The Den (2013)

"You wish I was hacking you."

This was so so. It had potential and got tense, but then got ridiculous (between how over-the-top the threat was and how incompetent everyone else is).

                      Insectula (2015)

                      "Why me?!"

Pretty cheesey B movie, but we saw it at GFest at midnight and that was fun. Gory.

                        • Ambitiously strong satire about capitalism and corruption, set in the near future. Lakeith Stanfield is a great lead, and the film is really funny, and witty. Unfortunately it falls apart at the end, when it gets too heavy in its message. That being said, it overall is a very confidentlymade film, and for a first feature Boots Riley shows a lot of promise. Crazy but good stuff.

                              • [Rec] 3: Genesis (2012)

"I'm really sorry I invited you to my wedding."

This did some clever things with the concept and was pretty good.

                                Light Blast (1985)

                                "I admire your co-deficiency."

Italian-made police procedural set in San Francisco. Erik Estrada is the main cop tracking down a terrorist with a death laser. The best part is when the death laser goes off because it melts its victims.
