Really good episode, I liked how they included the Red Lantern's back story. I just wished Bleez and Veon got into the action.

Yeah, I enjoyed the episode as well. Good moments for Hal and Kilowag, and I think I enjoy TAS take on Red Lanterns more than the comics.

Default What do you think of the Red Lanterns Oath in the Animated Series?

I kind of like it granted hellish hate was missed but when you think about it how would aliens have a concept of hell? So the Red Lantern Oath wasn't too bad.

I guess I'm talking about the fact that originally only Atrocitus was not a mindless animal. I know that's changed recently in the RL book, but originally I always thought that the rage fueled mindlessness worked better in theory than in practice. Glad it's changing. Like I said though, good episode.

There was a Dune homage in this episode. The priest says "It is by rage alone I set my mind in motion." That's a paraphrase of the Mentat mantra.

I heard that too, and loved it. This episode had a shitload of references to other science fiction and fantasy properties.

I really liked this week's episode. The show is getting better every week. The animation still leaves something to be desired, but I'm making my peace with it.

If they put more effort into the animation, sure. I really like the way the show is more like the real Green Lantern than say, the First Flight universe was.

I don't know. I guess I should be hoping they don't take their eye off the ball and continue to make the animated series as good as it can be. There does seem to be an improvement since the pilot. I don't want them to jinx it.

I like this show, but question some of the directions they're headed in with the characters. For example, what are they going to do with Razer? He can't continue to be the GL's sidekick for the duration of the show. He has to break away eventually OR become a GL at some point. In addition, I didn't like Razer kicking the crap out of the main adversary. Atrocitus is supposed to be the baddest of the bad, but all Razer needed was a little incentive to kick his ass... and he's not even the main character.

One final thing, Kilowog is supposed to be big, tough and bad ass; he's a drill instructor after all. Problem is, he gets his ass kicked and needs to be bailed out on a weekly basis. I'm glad they finally gave him a construct besides a hammer this week.

Yeah, seemed a bit weird seeing Killowog flat on his ass like he was in this week's episode. Still better than seeing Hal get owned every month in the actual comic though. At least they know enough to keep him strong there!

i dunno i think it can last up to 5 seasons

if a cgi film is done they could go the orgin route involving the guardians being from maultes and exileing krona and create the man hunters

Most networks (Cartoon Network in particular) demand that there animated shows only last five seasons on average (with 65 episodes in total), even if it's popular.

GL will only have 65 episodes, we should be thankful that we even got a cartoon series in the first place. If a movie wasn't coming out, then Warner Brothers and Cartoon Network would have rejected it almost immediately.

i think if the toon came out before the film i think the film may have succeeded a little bit

im not saying it wouldve been drawing spiderman 1 and 2 numbers but it probably wouldve introduced the younger generation of kids to go see it

so...as it seems that the GL cartoon is gaining ground and is good....will this inspire kids and adults alike to revisit the GL movie?

Probably not. Maybe it'll be the other way around and the cartoon will inspire somebody to make a good Green Lantern movie.

Zing!
