Yeah pretty much. I saw the theatrical cut a decade ago and finally got around to looking at the director's cut with my brother (who I gave this to a couple years ago for Christmas). I like both cuts but the director's cut is better. I want to see the Cabal Cut which is 25 minute longer than the director's cut and see how it stacks up. I think it's on Netflix.

"Mother of Mercy! Is this the end of Rico?"

Finding Dory (2016)

"Sigourney Weaver is going to help us!"

Ghost in the Shell (2017)

Compare to the original anime this film is terribly watered down, as it's basically the 2014 version of RoboCop in terms of plot. Therefore, if you liked that film, you're more likely to like this live action version of Ghost in the Shell.

For me, the film was just another action film with great visuals and set pieces, but not much depth or intrigue.

Beyond Outrage (2012)

"Anything? Let's play baseball."

As with the first one, I found this good but hard to keep up with who's betraying who and what clan affiliation they have.

Samurai Cop (1991)

"I want him dead! I want his head cut off and brought here! I want his head on this piano so that every man in my organization understands, what's more, that no Katana gets captured alive or talks! Got that?"

I invited a friend of mine to see this movie riffed this Thursday, but he said he wanted to see it straight first, so that's what we did.
[edit: didn't make it to the Rifftrax, unfortunately.]

Tropic Thunder (2008)

"You have no real family, you're on the wrong side of 40, you're childless and alone. Somebody close to you said, 'one more flop, and it's over.'
-Somebody said they were close to me?"

Passengers

Overall, not a bad film. It's a simple stranded on an island type of film, but it kind of gets a little ridiculous at the end with problem solving.

A friend of mine recuperating from hip replacement surgery wanted to get out of the house and watch some horror flicks, so we did a bad-1986-horror-movie double feature:

Chopping Mall (1986)

"Thank you. Have a nice day."

Slaughter High (1986)

"Talk dirty, Frank! Talk dirty!
-Um, tits.
DIRTY dirty!
-Um, f**k. Ah, tits. Screw."

A Fantastic Fear of Everything (2011)

"Lady, there is a time and a place for accusing a man of being paranoid and this is not f**king one of them!"

X-Men Apocalypse (2016)

"Well, at least we can all agree the third one's always the worst."

This was better than I expected it to be from what I'd heard, but I'd still say it was the weakest of the reboot series.
I remember Apocalypse from the comics, but I don't think I ever read his origin. Is it anything like this?

Melancholia (2011)

"The earth is evil. We don't need to grieve for it."

Weird and depressing.

"We're all doomed to die for this act of desecration."

Fast & Furious (2009)

"Muscle beats import every time."

Saw the LEGO Batman Movie this past weekend. It was great. My kids are saying it is their favorite movie ever (though, of course, that happens a lot with whatever fun movie they watched most recently).

My son did have one complaint, though. He couldn't figure out why Zod was not among the villains released from the Phantom Zone, given that Superman had just mentioned putting him there a bit earlier in the movie.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)

"You're representing me now. What you think, I'm gonna let you roll in a Hyundai?"

Fast & Furious 6 (2013)

"Did you say tank?"

The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll (1960)

"She only uses Christian names in bed."

Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky (1991)

"It's a damn miracle."

Wow, I can't even describe this ultra-violent kung fu movie. You have to see it to believe it. A google of some of the gifs may give you an idea though. Suffice it to say I've seen 80s slashers with less gore.

Scoop (2006)

"I wouldn't be surprised if he asked me to marry him someday.
-You come from an orthodox family, would they accept a serial killer?"

Wolfman (1979)

"I'm afraid I'll have to prove to you that there's no such thing as a werewolf."

Horrible.

How so? And was it different but good or different and bad?

Altar (2014)

"I love you, Petal."

The Janitor (2003)

"There's no stopping the custodian's darkness."

So bad.

Lakeview Terrace (2008)

"God isn't here. Swear to me."

Shutter Island (2010)

"At least tell me you've been smoking your own cigarettes?"

A federal marshal and his partner arrive at an island facility for treating the criminally insane, searching for a missing patient, but the more they investigate, the darker the matter becomes.

I have to say this was absolutely brilliant. The attention to detail, the quality of the acting, the foreboding atmosphere (both the man-made parts and the natural setting), and that what-the-fuck plot that just keeps your mind turning.

Just look at this astounding cast!

No wonder this thing grossed $130m worldwide, it's a damn masterpiece.

Very highly recommend.

Touching the Void (2003)

"Bloody hell. I'm gonna die to Boney M."

MST3K: Catalina Caper (1967/1990)

"No shirt. No shoes. No script."

Godzilla (2014)

"Let them fight."

MST3K: Reptillicus (1961/2017)

"I'm squishy!"

I saw that when it was new to Netflix. I remember being impressed. I heard the book is really good.

Superfast! (2015)

"We have a black guy in a white neighborhood minding his own business. All units respond. Repeat, all units respond."

Live and Let Die (1973)

"What are you? Some kinda doomsday machine boy?"

R.I.P. Clifton James (Sheriff JW).

The Fate of the Furious (2017)

"Why are they shooting at me?
-I don't know. Maybe because you're in a orange Lamborghini."

So, I liked it, but it was about on the level of #7; over-the-top-James-Bond stuff. I loved the opening Cuban race. I wasn't too happy that they accepted Shaw consider he's not only a callous mass murderer, but specifically Han's killer.

Furious 7 (2015)

"This time it ain't just about being fast."

"All's fair in love and war."

Ninja vs. Shaolin Guard (1984)

"Normally, you're very slow, when there's work. But now I see, when there's danger, you can go fast."

Class of 1984 (1982)

"The only rights we have are the ones we're willing to fight for."

King Kong (2005)

"I'm someone you can trust; I'm a movie producer."
