Default Shots from Second Life

Thought I would start a thread to post some screenshots. Enjoy

KallfuNahuel and I over a Camp Darfur set.

Cathy - The GLCs current ION title holder.

This was taken at a photo shoot we scheduled where we posed battling a Giant Anti-Monitor.

And my favorite "Ad" shot done by one of the members - unfinished but I thought it was great.

If you all like them I can post more as I get them or dredge up some old ones when time permits.

What is this GL Core Second Life? A mini-movie? A CGI webcomic?

Dude, we had a whole thread about this

Cid Jacobs started it http://www.thegreenlanterncorps.com/...ghlight=jacobs

Second life is like the Sims but bigger and better the GLCore previously GLCorps acts as a police force with in the game fixing hacks and such.

I guess I was always waiting for Darick to finish the pic, I would love to see it full. Maybe add Jeremy, Kall, and Cathy to it? My photoshop skills = 0

The Robot is Honor Guard Derin, one of our trainers, and the T-Rex is Green Lantern Omlet

Our new Hall of Great Service in New OA.
The Book of OA flips through screenshots taken over the last few years.
I am the tiny character in front of the book.

Join second life and send jeff or me a message. Learn as much as you can, and when the applications open, put in your application and hopefully start classes soon after. You are all welcome to come by the headquarters in Beta Quadrant sim though.

was doing a google on the GLCore, and I found a link related to this img:

http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2006/05/guarding_darfur.html

Quote:
GUARDING DARFUR

Monday, May 01, 2006

Second Life has a Darfur, so it’s sad (though not surprising) that it has its own janjaweed, too.

Activists recently built a virtual world information site on a private island called Better World, to raise awareness of the ongoing ethnic cleansing in Sudan. Called “Camp Darfur”, it features the recreation of a refugee tent city with a tiny campfire, and large display photos of the real thing, where the tents seem to go on for miles.

Shortly after it was unveiled, however, the place was hit by griefers. The first marauder found an exploit in the Camp’s building method, and used that to raze the place to the ground, strewing tents and images of refugees everywhere. According to Zeke Poutine, officer in the "Not on our watch" Darfur activist group, he shouted racial slurs while he trashed it. The Camp was rebuilt, but copycat attacks by others followed.

But if Camp Darfur has its janjaweed, it has its guardians, too. For shortly after the raids began, a Better World visitor who’d learned a lot about Sudan’s genocide from the Camp called a group of his to the island, to offer their protection.

And that’s why Camp Darfur is now under the vigilant eye of the Green Lantern Core, a band of superheroes who patrol Second Life with masks, tights, and magic lamps.

CONTINUED.........
and I gotta say, thats just frickin' cool guys; its really nice of ya'll to give out the help out to others in the SC-community like that!

Thanks Tazer, We are still involved with Better World and in fact KallfuNahuel traveled to South Africa to work with them for 2 weeks, He returned home just 2 days ago. I am very proud of what our group done with them and I think Hamlet will be writing a follow up soon.

My favorite part of the article:

It doesn’t just emanate an emerald light, but at his command, plays an audio sample from the old television show-- Green Lantern reciting the Core’s oath to a crescendo of trumpets. The SL group flies up to the Camp Darfur entrance to demonstrate for me. And though it would probably seem silly in any other place, up there, above the ragged tents and the faces of the endangered, the oath seems like something thrilling and real:

In brightest day
In blackest night
No evil shall escape my sight
Let those who worship evil's might
Beware my power
Green Lantern's Light!

Hamlet (the author) recently wrote a book called "The Making of Second Life" and devoted 4 pages to this story and expanded on it some.

thnx!! it was good talking to a few of the Rookies (1 of them Jeadeen) and GL Excelion (who even went out of his way to take me on a tour of 1 of the combat zones in SL (which was actually brief due to us getting cut down by snipers......)

I'll be applying as soon as Ive done some more exploration and gotten a better feel for SLs control scheme (which takes some getting used to.....for me anyways.)

see, now that right there shows great human decency; I must tip my hat to IRL-efforts like that.

thats good ta hear, and for the rest of ya'll who're reading this: considering the tools used AND the fact that it was done by a bunch of users.......hearing that come from the CPB actually made my eyes widen in surprise!!

if U have Second Life installed but *havent* gone here yet, I highly recommend the trek.
