Default All this talk about Hal Jordan, but who should play Sinestro?

Even though I know Sinestro most likely wont be the villain in the first movie, you need a good actor to build up the relationship with Hal before his fall. The absolute first candidate on my list for Sin is Hugo Weaving. I've been catching his movies on TV more and more often as of late and every time I just picture him with purple skin and a mustache and I can completely see it.

Actually, he's the only candidate on my list when I think about it. But who else do you all think should play Sinestro?

For me the discussion is over.

My imagination my be limited, but I canīt imagine, that somebody else than Hugo Weaving is playing that role.

I just keep picturing Hugo Weaving as Sinestro. His head is even shaped like Sin's! Plus, Weaving is just a great all purpose villain. He can pull off evil, and he can pull off the relentless, overpowering threat that will be needed. The viewer has to believe that Hal would be out of his league when he innevitably faces his old teacher; the complete underdog to Sinestro who is master of his ring.

I think Weaving is the Christopher Lee of our generation.

I liked the way he played Elrond. It was like every word he spoke was of huge value. He was very authentic playing a noble and epic character like Elrond

I wouldnīt mind if he would take some of it in a potential Sinestro role.

his Mr. Smith with Matrix is ideal. His calculating and explaining why emotion and human thinking is irrational is perfect. He'd BARELY have to change that character alone to play Stro

Is there even any talk in Hollywood yet of who they want to cast as Sinestro? I mean the most I've heard is that they've given his Character a first name....

No casting rumors outside of Hal and Carol. And I believe (but not hope) that Carol rumor was bullshit.

I know! She's been my choice since I read the first draft. Unfortunately thinkmcflythink have very unreliable sources.

Eh. I don't really see it. She didn't impress me in HULK and that was a bit part, but somewhat similar.

Im not set on Rose Byrne but, that link also said that Doug Jones was up for a role aswell. I had no idea who that was and googled him (I love technology ), and after looking at him, I thought.."He may be able to pull off Sinestro." Definitely not my first choice, but I could see it, or Hector Hammond.

If you check the comments section, someone posted Doug's statement on the matter. So you won't have to go back, he basically FLAT OUT denied it.

I always knew he would be a great Sinestro, but when I saw this picture I almost sh*t myself. Somebody needs to send this picture to Martin Campbell, along with a copy of LOTR & Matrix.

LOL Does anybody else think house would make a perfect Hecter Hammond?

For me that's the problem. I don't want to see a retread and I don't want the casting to make people think, "Seen it" and move on. I'd rather they cast someone who can make us interested to see how they pull it off rather than someone who we already feel like we know how they're going to play it. (that's how I felt about the Chris Pine as Hal rumors too)
