Also, because I can, I'd like to see John Cho as 'Pieface'. (Screw you and your political correctness! )

And, also, because Hector Hammond needs to be in the movie, I'd fill his shoes with Rainn Wilson (Dwight from The Office). I mean, COME ON, TELL me he wouldn't make a great Hammond!
I'd be pissed if Jennifer or Emily got the role. Jennifer just doesn't seem right for it, and Emily is just terrible on Bones.

Hugo Weaving would do well. Like someone else said, I think he's a little overexposed within sci-fi and fantasy movies.

Jason Isaacs, maybe. I only really remember him from The Patriot -- haven't seen the Harry Potter movies, so I can't judge from that -- and he did well as a bad guy.

Hugh Laurie is ... intriguing. I like him on House and I think he'd do a terrific job.

Just to throw in another name ... what about Adrian Paul from the Highlander TV series?

What about Samuel L. Jackson as Sinestro. Also, I want Sinestros fall from grace not to be obvious. I don't want Sinestro to relish being Evil. He just has a different idiology of order.

In fact I want the Gaurdians to come off as Asses and they actually pushed Sinestro into becoming the person he became. I mean Sinestro should be like Darth Vader. GL should be like Luke with less sympathy towards Sinestro.

Following the "Training Day" model, I think it might be more interesting for Sinestro to be played by someone usually thought of as heroic or relatable. (Batman Begins did this as well)

Maybe Viggo Mortensen or Paul Bettany...

On a side note, how do people feel about Sinestro's skin color? I tend to think they'll want to be a little more subtle than the colors we're used to seeing. Back in the day they didn't have the option to be subtle, but would anyone be really offended if he weren't the same purple/magenta?

I wouldnt mind him being somewhat lighter in color than he's portrayed in the comics, just as long as its distinct enough to show he's alien

Whoever said Daniel Day-Lewis, I can definitely get behind that. I think he has the face structure to pull it off well, and of course has the acting skills to back it up.

No wonder his wife left him, if that's what he looked like when he came home for dinner after a long day at the office.

And it looks like baby Soranik has been raiding the cabinets looking for the cookies again.

I think this thread's died down a bit, largely because there's been no news whatsoever on Sinestro casting, but also because we've got to the point of just throwing the same old names back and forth. So I figured I'd try and liven things up a bit by suggesting some new actors as possible candidates for Sinestro. Some of the choices may be awful, but at least they're different, and might give us something new to talk about:

PETER CAPALDI

PADDY CONSIDINE

DAVID THEWLIS

(Suggested before for Hector Hammond, and is inspired casting for that role, but could perhaps pull off Sinestro too).

I tried to think of actors who it might be a bit of a stretch envisioning as Sinestro, talented folk who have not necessarily played this type of character before, rather than going for obvious choices or people who have portrayed Sinestro-type personalities often.

I really hope people stop saying David. I don't want him near this movie.

Paddy is probably my favorite out of those three.

I love Paddy Considine, and have done for years. I suggested him for Deadshot too, at one point. I just want him in a comic book movie.

I can see Lupin as Sinestro, but I was just flipping through the channels and landed on Matrix Reloaded. Its at the scene in the park after Neo talked with the Oracle and Smith is saying how Anderson has liberated him from the system, that he's a new man so to speak, and I just imagined Sinestro saying those lines to Hal after being discharged from the Corp. I can honestly see this happening too perfectly in my mind.

It is Bruno Ganz, a little bit too old, but what do you think about Robert Carlyle:

He was good at playing a sinister character in Ravenous.
