Default "Hence why" you're an idiot.

http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/hencewhy.html

http://verbmall.blogspot.com/2010/02...thats-why.html

Anybody over the age of 16 who uses this phrase deserves a punch in the face and to be fired from any job that doesn't involve menial physical labor.

And more than just a little pretentious.

It reminds of all those people who feel the need to declare that Frankenstein was the doctor and not the monster....feel better now that you got that off your chest?

I'm the person who has to tell people Excalibur was not the sword Arthur pulled from the stone.

I don't recall ever hearing anyone say "hence why." I have heard people erroneously say "from whence."

Yes and I hate mocking people unless they're friends and know I'm kidding. However, the people using "hence why" (unlike Frankenstein) are trying to sound prim and proper and failing so...

There are some stories where they're one in the same.

Remember Monty Python, though:

"Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government."

There are some stories that say they're one in the same, but generally in most of the stories Excalibur and the Sword in the Stone, are different.

Oh, and just saying, Arthur became king because he pulled the sword from the stone, not because the Lady of the Lake gave him Excalibur. Even though I love Monty Python.

I also don't like it when people use decimate to mean totally destroy something. I know words evolve and change but deci means one tenth, and decimate means to reduce by one tenth.

So what? If it makes them feel good, who the fuck are you to rain on their parade and try to make them feel like shit?

You might think you're doing it for their sake, but truthfully the average person doesn't give a shit so you aren't saving anyone from embarrassment. You're just trying to feel smug at their expense..

Yea but if they put that answer on a test they'd get it wrong....just sayin

What's wrong with people having their info correct? The average person should give a shit about how they sound when speaking. This goes for people who like to "aks" questions and call their possesions "mines"
