I think that GL would do alot better if DC lightened Goeff's load and made this comic his focus and made Ethan the artist.

GLC I don't know if there is any hope for that book.

What ^they said. I pick up GLC on a regular basis, but can't get into it as I have with the GL books because of the sloppy artwork. Sometimes, I don't know what the hell is going on from panel to panel.

With his level of detail based on time, he could be the monthly artist for one comic, if he did nothing else for work. Maybe a slight bit faster too, or maybe that'd work, but something along that level.

I just think GLC has been stupid. The characters leave something to be desired and the few cool things that happen are always eclipsed by the lame stuff. The only reason I keep buying the book is because I don't want it canceled,But I can't wait for them to lose the deadweight characters and get a new creative team on that puppy. I realy find my self forceing myself trhough those issues.

Because I was bored I decided to look up GL Volume 3's sales but the oldest numbers I could find only go back to September 1996 which is 29 issues into Kyle's GL run. These are only estimates as usual it's hard to find data from comic sales from too far back so here...

Update 1-Found some more Sales numbers from Kyle's run starting in September 1995 there are harder to nail down and the estimate may not be as accurate as the one from September 1996 but it's the best I could do.

Update 2-Found some even more rougher estimates for Kyle's run again the sources on these can be not be as reliable as the last 2 but they are work checking out for some perspective. I'll see if I can track down the remaining issues from volume 3 but this may be as far back as I can go unless someone from DC at that time decides to put the real numbers out.

That surprises me a bit. I mean, I knew the current run of GL was one of DC's most popular titles, but the industry as a whole is down, so I'm a bit surprised to see that pretty much the entire current run has sold more copies than ANY of the issues from Kyle's run (barring some special events issues)- at least as far back as you were able to find numbers.

And even as a big fan of Kyle's (I also like Hal, and John. I have a hard time picking a favorite) I am forced to admit that the numbers seem to show that Hal's appearances were what drew in the biggest numbers, and after he was gone again, the numbers always dropped back down to the previous 35-45 thousand range (Emerald Knights seemed to bring people to the title for a while, even after Hal was gone, but within a year after it was over, numbers were back to previous levels.)

What I take from this is that people who say that Hal doesn't sell as well as Kyle are just plain wrong. But the evidence pre-ET was also that having Hal doesn't guarantee good numbers either. I like to think that the trick is keeping ALL the Earth GLs around, giving them all a chance to shine, and having GOOD WRITING. Those are the keys to GL success.

Ethan, thanks for jumping in on the conversation here. Your work is of the quality worth waiting for...to have it monthly is a spectacular thing. I enjoyed the hell out of Flash: Rebirth #2 on Wednesday. That end reveal caught me off guard!
