  • GLEN ORBIK Passes Away at 51

Cover artist and teacher Glen Orbik passed away Monday, May 11, 2015, as posted on Facebook by close friend Jennifer Fabos Patton. Orbik was a prolific cover artist for comic books and prose novels, best known for his hand-painted work including covers for DC, Marvel and Vertigo and novels for Ray Bradbury and Stephen King.

Through his painting work and as a teacher at the California Art Institute, Orbik was revered for his pulp-influenced paintings. Orbik studied under famed movie poster illustrator Fred Fixler, and took over Fixler's classes at the California Art Institute upon his retirement.

In comics, Orbik worked in the late 1990s and early 2000s with a run of covers for Batman: Shadow of the Bat and Vertigo's American Century. In addition to that, Orbik did memorable covers for Superman: Lex 2000, The Life Story of the Flash and other books.

Ultimate Fighter' veteran Corey Hill dies at age 36 after battle with pneumonia

"Ultimate Fighter" season 5 competitor Corey Hill died on Thursday due to complications from fungal pneumonia. He was 36 years old.

Hill was a part of the fifth season of "The Ultimate Fighter" where he competed alongside a laundry list of top names including Nate Diaz, Joe Lauzon and Gray Maynard.
Hill fought in the UFC a total of three times with a 1-2 record overall before suffering a gruesome broken leg in his final fight for the promotion against Dale Hartt in 2008. Hill's injury was similar to the one suffered by former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.
Hill returned to fighting just over a year after suffering the broken leg although he never returned to the UFC again.
      "
The UFC family mourns the tragic loss of Corey Hill, who passed away on May 14 due to complications from pneumonia at the age of 36," UFC offficials said in a statement released on Thursday. Fans will remember Corey for his time as a lightweight competitor who fought multiple times for the organization in 2008 and was a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter season 5. UFC sends its condolences to the family and friends of Corey Hill."

Hill last fought in February before suffering health problems that put him in the hospital just recently.

Hill is survived by his wife and three children.

              • Damn, that sucks! I worked one of his shows a few years ago. Had alot of fun and Mr. King was an awsome guy. He had to do the preformance sitting the whole time, so I went out of my way to find the most comfortable chair I could in the Classic Center for him. He was very happy with me.

I also was able to get a female friend (I ran into her during the intermission)back stage to meet him.

                • John Stephenson, voice of Thundercracker and Kup, passes away at 91

Thanks to sources provided by Sabreblade, we have the sad news that legendary voice actor John Stephenson has passed away at the age of 91. He had been suffering from Alzheimer's for some time and living in a nursing home. Among his many voice roles, he was known as the voice of Mr. Slate on The Flintstones, and to Transformers fans, he was the voices of Alpha Trion, Thundercracker, Windcharger, Huffer, Kup (seasons 3 and 4, not the movie), Devcon, and some smaller roles in the G1 cartoon.

The Internet Movie Database lists 232 credits for him as both an on-camera and voiceover actor and we are pretty certain that this is just a fraction of the work he did.

May you rest in peace sir.
