If they could give everyone else a solo story as well as a group one then they could have made room for a Guy solo as well. Guy will probably barely be in that story either.

If this was only a $2.00 book I'd swallow that bitter pill, but no way I'm paying $10.00 for my favourite to get shafted.

That's true.

I don't think that Guy in particular has been ignored. It's just that Morrison decided to focus on Hal and Hal alone, while Scott Snyder's Justice League lineup is heavily influenced by the Justice League cartoon, hence John Stewart, and by Super Friends, hence Sinestro.

DC seems to be too busy with all of the new Lanterns in Young Justice, Far Sector and Legion of Superheroes to deal with Guy, Kyle, Alan or Jade. Well, Kyle joined the Titans for a hot minute in 2018 when cancellation of that title must have been a foregone conclusion already. And both Guy and Kyle had one-panel cameos in Heroes in Crisis.

And we can be thankful they weren't bigger parts because no character who was highlighted by that train wreck was well served. Heck, I love Harley, but her stuff was too Mary Sue even for me.

They should have had roles established for the GLs they already had before making new ones.

But Geoff needed the royalties he assigned himself by shoehorning his creations into every DC adaptation across all media. That's more important than coherent storytelling or satisfying the preexisting fanbase.

Aren't a few of these characters dead, or changed? If this is a retro, it's still got several beings out of order.

Maybe those are just Hal's memories of people, both from his past and from his present? Kinda like the beginning of Emerald Twilight, where his ring created citizens of Coast City based on his memories of them?

The FOC for the GREEN LANTERN 80th Anniversary Special is on Monday. This story might get a bit of news, and I’m excited to talk about it in more detail when it’s released. It’s an Alan Scott story. And yes, that is, in fact, Doiby Dickles in the artwork below. Your eyes do not deceive you, Doiby Dickles fans! This story would have been before he moved to Planet Myrg with his beloved Princess Ramia. (You do not need to know or care about any of that to enjoy the story, btw, I am just a big fucking nerd).

The story is called “Dark Things Cannot Stand The Light.” For the moment, here’s a little glimpse of the colored art. I still can’t believe I got to work with the incredible Gary Frank on this story. When I first asked my friend and editor Andrew Marino if he thought we could get Gary for this, I never in a million years thought he’d say yes… And just look at this incredible work. Colors by Steve Oliff. It’s a beautiful piece and I’m very proud of it.

Fuck Geoff Johns. If he wants a steady income then he needs to get off his lazy ass and start submitting his scripts on time.

I am pumped for that Alan Scott story! Kind of a bummer Alam only gets one appearance in this special. Considering HE is the character the 80 years hinges on that they are celebrating. Everything else came 1959 and later.

True, but honestly the corps has much better legs as a comic concept than the magic lantern. There's a reason I went with "space cop" instead of "lucky railway engineer."

Eh..he's been writing movie scripts and he's currently producing a TV show, so I'm now sure how he's "lazy."

Then he should quit writing comics if he can't/won't make his deadlines.

I really wish this was coming out before my LCS closes. But, sadly, the pushed back date is too late for that.

I'm sure that if it was a serious issue, someone at Warner Bros would have done something about it. The Didio situation is proof of that. Johns is one of DC's biggest ambassadors right now, so he might be getting slack that other writers wouldn't.

You know, I'm really curious what's the print run of the various variant covers. Which decade, which hero sells best? And by what margin?

I think I will get the Top one with everyone on it. None of the wow me. Except the Guy one. The group photo would be better if it did not have the dollar store Lanterns on it.

^I know it won’t be the Mahnke for me and I can’t afford them all. Usually, Reis would be my clear choice, but I don’t like that it’s skittle-corps themed.

I’ll probably go with the Adams or the Finch if my LCS has them.
