There are many more things you could do with this. If, for example, you followed my blueprint and put John, Kyle and Alan on teams while publishing an Earth-based title starring Hal and a space-based title starring Guy, you could put out recurring minis that starred John, Kyle and Alan.

Another one: A new version of Hard Traveling Heroes, starring Dick Grayson and Conor Hawke.

To me, an ongoing is analogous to a home run, and a recurring mini to a single. If a property can't hit a home run but can maybe hit singles, then you should let it try to hit singles, rather than just not using it and making no money off it.

Something that might give Sgt. Rock a better chance to sell. Make it a co-production with Marvel of Sgt. Rock and Sgt. Fury.

Maybe even a Western that's a co-production with Marvel and DC's characters. Hell, why not try it out for two stories, or eight issues?

Another one -- to be called DCU Events. Publish two four-issue stories once a year, the same schedule that other minis follow.

Have a clear purpose in doing this: Use the events to help sell the marginal ongoings and the other recurring minis, instead of dragging the most popular characters and ongoings into them.

Make them relatively unobtrusive in the DCU as a whole.
