I do. It was a dumb story then, and it's still a dumb story now. Legion at least made more sense, and worked well with the whole yellow weakness.

Plus, that Legion armor would look pretty awesome in all its movie CGI glory.

I liked Atrocitus at the time, and he worked great with the Five Inversions. But as soon as Johns developed the rainbow Lantern brigade idea and put him at the head of one of the colors, I jumped off that wagon. At this point I think Hal's origin will need to be revamped again to be less cheesy. I could live with a Legion type of threat if it was fleshed out better.

Or maybe tied into Sinestro's downfall. Sinestro could have killed Abin because he was figuring out all of the bad things Sinestro was up to and was about to inform the Guardians. Then Hal is placed under Sinestro's training by the unsuspecting Guardians and has to do the whole training Day thing.

What I do know is this, Guardians of The Galaxy used CGI when appropriate. Green Lantern was like watching a Star Wars prequel. That's not a good thing imo.

I'm going to see GOTG again Saturday. It's at the drive in with Expendables 3, so I'm all over it.

Wear a Groot mask. They'll let you in for free.

TWO of them within driving distance! And one of them has two screens. They're a piece of Americana that we try to support every summer.

Good for you, BD! We have one about an hour away, which was restored by a local historical preservation group. A drive-in is a unique experience.

GotG used CGI ceaselessly from the time Quill was picked up in the spaceship as a child until the end of the movie. It seemed to have 2 or 3 times as much CGI as GL, but somehow cost around $30million less. I'm still trying to figure out how Warner Bumbles spent $200 mil on GL.

Probably the constant script rewrites.

I was thinking this. Lots of studios don't even count those in cost. It's considered overhead, especially since screenplays and concepts are passed off and the cost can be completely lost. E.g., studio x can own a re-written screenplay, sit on it for 10 years, then option it off to studio y at a loss. Studio y never reports the re-writes in production.

But we know WB does count the re-writes.

I heard it was 400 million. Wich seems insane. But here is the theroy I have been offered.WB counts the development costs of past concepts that do not take off. So it is not just the advertising and production costs of the actual film. They count way back in the day when Eddie Murphy wanted to make a John Stewart movie,Both times. So lets count the 2 Eddi Murphy attempts. Well there were rumored scripts, then the Re writes that Later became Meteor Man,then the second attempt, then the Re write that became Pluto Nash. Now do the also count the cost of those actual productions or does it stop when the script changes concepts?

Next we have the Jack Black talks and scripts, that went along with that. Then it falls to the movie that actually get produced. And the mass amount of work and workers that goes into it. If this is true then it makes sense.

It also answers a question that I have wondered. Superman Returns was not a Blockbuster smash but If I recall it did okay at the box Office. No sequal was made for that movie. Yet Batman Begins was kinda in the same boat,It did well just not super. Could it be that they were counting the failed Superman Lives concept along with Returns lackluster results?

I have no solid proof. I have heard this rumor a Number of times, and It kinda makes sense to me. 400 million dollars is an insane amount of money, but If it is attached to projects since the 90's it becomes more realstic.

The CGI in the Star Wars prequels looked much better than GL, and still holds up fine.

Green Lantern CGI was rushed, along with the rest of the film, in addition to the cancelled scripts.

I thought the constructs looked fine. I didn't like the suit or Parallax, but the constructs were pretty much how I imagine they would look in real life.

I also though that parts of OA looked fine, but overall the effects were pretty poor.

I was fine with the look of the constructs. Oa looked really good. I didn't like the CPB being at the core of the planet and hope they change that in any future film. But the color pallet of Oa, it's architecture and general look were fantastic.

I think some of the alien GL's costumes worked better than others. Sinestro's was really good for example. I liked the design of his costume. I would just make the borders between the green and black areas to be more clearly defined. Hal's needs to be completely reworked.

But I don't remember all that much other than decked out cardboard cutouts of GL's and several movie posters at theaters. The Avengers get happy meal toys and Dr. Pepper cans, GL got what again?

That has never been confirmed. It may be true, but WB has only confirmed the $200,000,000 production. If it had made blockbuster money, no one would have even heard those rumors. They would've just said it made x more than its 200 budget.

The avengers got happy meal toys? I have never seen them. I am usually hip on Happy Meal promos. Anywho GL did get some promo he Got stupid Subway lunch bags, and he was on some ice tea cans I wanna say Brisk. He was also on Reeses Peanut butter cups. That said I never really saw alot of that stuff when it came out. I hear that they went overbaord in California. I remember hearing people complaining about it. I never saw the Cali stuff, but I doubt it was 200 million dollars worth.
