It's funny because the word is spelled differently in the UK and the US but this isn't either one.

The Brits kept the "ou" dipthong (especially before an "r") where Americans dropped it. E.g., Favorite, color, favourite, colour, etc. When I was editing I had to correct those from our British authors (because we were an American publisher) and some of them were pissed (in the American sense ).

Surely at least SOME of them were pissed in the British sense, too. I've heard about writers.

There was one author—but he wasn't British—who nobody wanted to talk to so I often got him on the phone (I was the calm one). I swear every time I talked to him he sounded like he was in a bar.
