So what is going on with THE GREEN LANTERN movie?

Not much has been heard about the film since they cast Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern and the production was pulled out of Australia.

Well, I did my usual snooping around and I was able to nail down who the five candidates are for the role of CAROL FERRIS – Hal Jordan’s love interest in the film.

Per the script, Carol Ferris (27) is the daughter of aerospace mogul Carl Ferris. She works for her dad’s company FERRIS AIR, got an MBA, and has a lifetime crush on Hal Jordan.

According to my sources, the five candidates are:

1) James Bond heartbreaker EVA GREEN


2) The voice of DC’s animated WONDWER WOMAN film KERI RUSSELL



3) Helen of TROY’s DIANE KRUGER



4) Gossip girl’s BLAKE LIVELY


5) and JENNIFER GARNER


So who do you guys think will get the part? Tough call, but IN MY OPINION I personally think it’s between Diane Kruger and Keri Russell.

Both Kruger and Russell are the same age as Ryan Reynolds (33).

None of these ladies are who I would cast. Out of the five, I guess I'd go with Eva Green. Jennifer Garner is the bottom of the barrel on this list .

Eh... I don't know. I'm indifferent about all of those choices -- but then again, I'm indifferent about most Hollywood hotties. They all look like the same over-makeuped, over-sexualized young woman to me. Put them in a line-up, and I wouldn't be able to match most of the names to the faces.

I am, however, happy to note that most of these women (with the notable exception of Jennifer Garner) are names that have been below my radar up until this point. That's better than just immediately trying to grab whoever's hottest in the tabloids at the moment.

Irrelevant observation: that particular picture of Eva Green is not very flattering.

Yeah, Garner's probably the weakest link there. She can do cute real well, but never, ever have I ever gotten the impression she can do commandingly bitchy and come off convincingly.

Eva Green, I really don't like any of the other choices for Carol. I like Diane Kruger, just don't see her playing Carol.

Eva Green, Keri Russell, Diane Kruger or Jennifer Garner any of them could play Carol Ferris IMO. I think Blake Lively is too young for Carol.

I like all of these actresses except Blake Lively. And even then, it's more that I haven't seen Blake in anything more than actually DISliking her.

I always pictured Jennifer Connolly in the role for the look, but I was never convinced she could be commanding enough onscreen. Carol has a take charge, bitch on the outside thing going on that would be needed for the movie. There's her outward appearance to her employees and how she treats Hal innitially, then the daddy's girl in over her head, and the love interest part. A young Demi Moore would've been great.

Carol isn't a difficult character to nail down by a longshot, but it's important that she be played right. And she certainly won't be done right by Garner. It'd be like TWINE where Denise Richards plays a Bond girl...who's a nuclear physicist! Who the fuck cast THAT one btw? Likewise, in GL, I'd prefer they don't cast someone who's laughable in the role, or who doesn't pull it off.

Anyone but Garner. I don't know what the infatuation everyone has with her but the woman is ugly. And not that great an actor. She's also way too old for this part.

None are my top choice, but Eva Green's definitely cute, and I think probably looks the most like Carrol Ferris (from the comics), so she gets my vote. Carol always seemed like the "girl next door" to me. Obviously, Eva's also worked with Campbell before, on Casino Royale, so him casting her isn't much of a stretch.

I find it strange that most of the "choices" are blond (not that that's a real issue, I just find it interesting for a character who's always had dark hair)

Jennifer Garner

Even though it feels as if Garner’s superhero movie ship has sailed ever since the not-so-successful Daredevil and her second chance offering, the frightful Electra, she seems to have made the list. Sure, she’s kicked ass before — but that’s not what this role is about. That is, unless they turn Carol into Star Sapphire, as DC did in the comic series in ‘62. Either way, I don’t think Garner’s got the stuff anymore. She should stick to age-bending romcoms instead.

Keri Russell

Ms. Russell sure is sweet, sweet as pie. But if this Green Lantern film is going to be out of this world, they might need someone less girl next door and more high society badass. Think about one of those Sex and the City girls, but better educated and with toughness underneath the surface. And hotter. Sadly, Keri Russell is not that kind of lady. However, I would certainly bring her home to mom.

Blake Lively

High society is where I’d start with the Gossip Girl starlet, who I’d love to see break into something big. Unfortunately, I don’t know if this is the role for her. She’s a bit young to be playing 27 up next to Reynolds’ 33-year old hero. At 22, she’ll have plenty of chances to put her sexy-stamp on another franchise in the future.

Eva Green

Eva Green, Bond girl, has been their before. She’s alluring, talented and has the range to pull off just about any role. She can also play dangerous, sexy and calculated, as seen by her performance in Casino Royale. She works, hands down.

Diane Kruger

Perhaps the best candidate for the role, Ms. Kruger recently knocked it out of the park with her performance in Inglourious Basterds. She’s got the toughness, the sexiness and the maturity to be a Carol Ferris who isn’t just a shell of a comic book character (we’re looking at you, Kirsten Dunst in Spider-Man), she can be a real force alongside Reynolds, who is still the perfect Jordan.

So there you have it. Are you listening, Warner Bros.? Hire Diane Kruger, stat.

I've always thought Eva Green would make a great Carol. Shes got the looks and personality. I would also go with Diane Kruger.

Jennifer Garner would be the best choice for Carol, she looks like her and has a nice balance of hot and proffesional that someone portraying Ms. Ferris needs.

hmm, I can see it. Never watched House so I can't speak on her acting ability though.
