Bring it on indeed!
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, the only previous movie in the franchise to tackle this subject, is my favorite installment of the whole film series (and the only film in the original series that wasn't rated G, because it was too violent for such a rating).
This sounds like it has a ton of potential.
Previously titled Caesar, Variety reports that Fox is now calling the picture Rise of the Apes and that it will be released next summer on June 24, 2011. Additionally, Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) is confirmed to direct the return to Ape City from a script by Amanda Silver and Rick Jaffa.
Peter Jackson's WETA Digital will handle the visual effects on the film (which will render photo-realistic apes rather than using actors in monkey suits). Here's the film's logline:
"Rise of the Apes is an origins story set in present-day San Francisco. The film is a reality-based cautionary tale, where man's own experiments with genetic engineering lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy."
Bring it on, Lawgiver!
