Sector 2890 - Reported activity of the White Lobe

"This was the last transmission we got from the space station Olysseus. They picked up a lost ship, after that, I lost communications with them."

"And probably got a nasty surprise when they opened the ship..." Kell remarks.

The trio then came upon the wreckages of the station.


"We arrived too late." Notices Sev.

"What happened?"

"Going by their modus operandi, they detonated a blink bomb in the station as soon as they go in there."

"All those people..wiped out in an instance."

"That´s the White Lobe Sev. They live only for installing fear and terror. They know no logic, no mercy and no reason."


"Think this group is the only one around?"

"I don´t think so. They usually take some hostages." Replies Iolande

"So, there´s still some hope for someone that was aboard the Ollyseus?"

"Until they grow tried of them. We better hurry."

"Any ideas on where to look for them?"


"Ring! Trackdown Lobe spawn signatures!" Commands Iolande.

"How...?"

"Since I and Natu started investigating them, she managed to find out how to track down their unique signatures. Quite an ingenious move by her part. I was impressed at the time."

"Signatures found. 4th planet of this solar system."

"We found them.

"Then there´no time to loose. Let´s head out!"

The 52: Space Sector 2814: Earth-20

BOOM!

"OOF!" A portal opens in the sky, and Crux is thrown to the ground from the force of the exit. He slams stomach-first into the ground.

"...ouch..." Crux manages to get himself up, dust himself off, and look around. He sees that he seems to have landed in a city. He gets up, and sees that people in the city, passing by, have been startled by his appearance. Then, suddenly, Crux feels pain. He feels a blunt force to the back of his neck and back. He begins to fade out. He finally falls to the ground. Before he fades out entirely, he hears people cheering.

Sometime later...

Crux awakens. There is a bright light. He puts his hands overs his eyes, to shield himself from the light. He finally adjusts to the brightness, and puts his arms down. He gets up, and sees that he is now in a holding room. There is one window, and the room is white. Crux cannot see out the window.

"A two-way mirror... where the hell am I?..." Crux asks himself.

"You're in holding." A voice chimes in. Crux looks around for any sign of people. There is none.

"Don't bother. It's a loud-speaker system." The voice says.

"What is this? Who are you!?" Crux asks.

"Oh, no, no. The question IS... who are YOU?" The voice answers back.

"I'm Crux Hesiod, Green Lantern of space sector 2, and a New God of the planet New Genesis." Crux says. There is no reply for a moment. But, the answer comes.

"You're awfully open about who you are." The voice says.

"Why shouldn't I be? I have nothing to hide." Crux answers.

"Oh, you don't?"

"No."

"Then, tell me, why are you here?" Crux hesitates for a moment, weighing whether he should say anything or not. Then, he finall speaks up.

"I'm here looking for a friend of mine. He summoned himself here through a portal."

"What makes you think your friend is here?"

"He was traced here. Maybe you've seen him? White gloves and boots, a black suit with stars on it. He, himself, is a little... uh... strange." Crux says.

"Him? You know him?"

"If by "Him", you mean Thom Kallor, a.k.a. Starman, then, yes. I do." Suddenly, the wall with the window slides up. Crux watches the bottom of the wall, hoping to see someone on the other side. He sees three beings on the other side. One wears a pair of black boots, the other two both wear red boots. The wall slides up to reveal the beings in full form. One being is almost entirely covered in black, except for a few stripes of yellow on the sleeves and leggings of his costume. The cowl is also yellow, with black bat wings going up the cowl. Another is a woman, with white hair and eyes. She wears a black and yellow cape, and red and blue with white stars. The last one, the one seeming to be the leader, wears entirely red, white and blue. He has a big, white star on his chest, and carries a steel shield with an S in the center of it. They all three wlak over to Crux. The one in red, white, and blue extends his hand.

"I'm Super-Soldier. This is Dark Claw," Super-Soldier says, looking over at the man in black, "and Amazon." He says, this time looking at the woman.

"You guys all seem EXTREMELY familiar..." Crux says.

"Your friend said the same thing." Dark Claw says.

"So, he is here?" Crux asks.

"Yes. He was taken into care by our friend, Dr. Strangefate." Amazon says, "We can take you to him." Crux smiles at this news.

"Please take me to him."

A being sits in quiet meditation. He floats in solitary, with only his thoughts as his companions. He sees the events unfold. He sees Crux meeting with the three beings, and how they will soon arrive at his doorstep. He is Dr. Strangefate, and he is only of two people that know of their place in the Multiverse.

"Well, Crux Hesiod..." the being says, "welcome to the Amalgam universe."

"Okay old man, why are we being dragged into this."

Kyle's eye twitched, "Old... man...?"

"Do not take it personally! The first few centuries that she and I knew each other, she called me Psycho-Lizard! ... still does, now that I think of it." Ayjen said as he used his ring to 'bounce' around.

"Yeah..." Nyx said uncomfortably, "I'm with Lieriek, why are we here?"

"You're all here because you were with me when that Starheart fragment smacked into me. And you're gonna help me find my exgirlfriend who I thought was dead and is now apparently alive."

"I see..."

"Huh?" Nyx and Lieriek said in unison.

"Out of the three of you, the mentally unstable one is the only one who get it." Kyle said shaking his head. "Okay, I'll explain this in plain terms. There have been reports all around the galaxy that Starheart enregy is being detected. We are going to check them out and see if there is any clue of a supposedly dead woman come back to life. Ok?"

Nyx nodded and Lieriek srugged.

"Huh?"

This is going to be a long mission, Kyle thought to himself.

On route to Mining world Prosperous

After finding out where the hostages where being held, the three Lanterns headed out for the mining station. It was not the first time the Children of the White Lobe assaulted a mining post. They needed the raw minerals to make their blink bombs.

While on route, Iolande "tried to break the ice" around her and Sev. She sensed that despite her earlier apologize, Sev was still a closed person.

"So...Uh..Sev. How have you been doing?"

"What´s that go to do with our assignement?" She replies.

"I would like to have your full concentration on this mission, and so far your mind seems to be elsewhere."

"It´s none of your concern!" Severance replies.

"It´s because of Lyssa?"

"I said it´s none of your concern! You, with your life, accustomed to the best. You have no idea of losing everything you hold dear!"

SLAP!

Iolande slaps Severance in a brief moment of rage. Sev is left with no reaction whatsoever.

"I´m the last living member of the Royal House of Betrassus. My father, my brothers, all of them are dead. So do not be so quick to lash out on others! You are not the sole person in grief in the entire galaxy!"

The trio arrives at Prousperous. Before entering atmosphere, Iolande turn to Sev.

"And btw Sev, You should not drive of those who only want to help you out!"

Severance backs down, realizing she had been unfair with her partner and lashed out on her with no reason.

"Come on, you two, we have people to save!"

Space Sector 2814: The Planet Earth: Greenwich Village, NY

It is night in New York City. A quiet one. Crux flies alongside two heroes, Super-Soldier and Amazon. They are leading him to Dr. Strangefate, a hero who has taken in and is now caring for Starman. Crux looks off to his right, and sees Dark Claw running across the rooftops of the city. He keeps up just fine, even if he can't fly. Soon, they all arrive at their destination: The home of Doctor Strangefate.

"Well, here we are." Super-Soldier says. Crux looks up at the old apartment building.

"Wow... it's more... modest than I thought." Crux says.

"The home reflects the man." Amazon says. The three heroes walk into the building, followed by Crux. They soon arrive outside the home of the Doctor. When the three walk up, the door opens instantly. Inside, a man stands. He is in a formal outfit, and has gray hair with a bald spot on top.

"Hello. I am Myx." The man says.

"We know who you are Myx." Super-Soldier says.

"I know. I was referring to the one in green." Myx says, pointing to Crux, "I do believe he is a new face."

"Yeah." Dark Claw mutters.

"Please, do come in. My master has been expecting you." Myx says. He lets the four heroes by and into the house.

"Follow me, please." Myx says. He walks ahead of the heroes, and leads them down a hall, and into a larger room.

"So... when are we meeting this... "Strangefate" guy?" Crux asks.

"Doctor Strangefate, if you do not mind, sir. He should be down any moment now." Myx says. The heroes stand for a moment or two, until a voice breaks the silence.

"Greetings, friends." A voice says. All the heroes look up at the top of a winding staircase, and see a man in a blue outfit with a red cape and a gold helmet.

"Is that the helmet of F--" Crux asks himself, before he is interrupted.

"Helmet of what?" Crux looks up, and sees the Doctor in front of him, down the stairs in a hurry. Crux thinks for a moment, then answers.

"Uh... nothing. Never mind..." Crux says.

"Very well." Doctor Strangefate says. The Doctor looks up at everyone in the room, "So, what can I do for you?" The Doctor asks.

"Well, we're here about that man you took in a few days ago. Starman." Dark Claw says.

"What about him?" Strangefate asks.

"Well, our friend here is looking for him. Says he wants to bring him back home." Dark Claw finishes.

"Oh... I see." The Doctor says, "Well, I'm afraid I cannot release him to you."

"Excuse me?" Crux asks.

"Not yet, anyway." The Doctor finishes. He then levitates over to a mystical orb in the room. He grabs it, and brings it to Crux.

"Perhaps you recall when Starman had been having nightmares?" The Doctor begins.

"Yeah." Crux says.

"Well, those power fluxes he was having in his dreams was actually me reaching out to him. You see, when he was using his powers, that was actually me trying to get Starman to use his powers to teleport himself here." The Doctor says.

"Uh, yeah... why?" Crux asks.

"Well, I recently stumbled upon a plot concocted by Will Magnus. He has found a way to control Magneto and the Magnetic Men." The other heroes take notice of what the Doctor has said, and move in closer, "You see, I called Starman here because his growing power can defeat the controlled Magnetic Men and Magneto. Now, Magnus' plot will come to a head in a few days. So, I cannot send Starman back home until Magnus is stopped." The Doctor finishes. The heroes now step forward.

"How can we help?" Super-Soldier asks.

"I need back-up on this mission. So, your help would be greatly appreciated in this endeavor." Strangefate says.

"What about anyone else?" Dark Claw.

"I have that planned out." The Doctor looks up to the staircase, as do the heroes. They all see several heroes step down from the stairs. Among them, are a skeleton with a head on fire and dressed in red uniform and a blue cape.

"Flash?" Crux asks himself.

"...No. Speed Demon." A voice in Crux's head speaks. Crux recognizes the voice as the Doctor's voice. Another has blonde hair and goatee, an orange shirt, a chain belt, and green pants.

"Aquaman?" Crux asks himself again.

"...Aqua-Mariner..." The Doctor corrects him again. The third is a green man with blue cape.

"The Martian Manhunter?" Crux asks himself a third time.

"...Mister X..." The Doctor also corrects a third time. Then, the last hero, is wearing green and yellow armor with a Lantern insignia in the middle.

"...The Iron Lantern..." The Doctor says a last time. Crux recognizes part of that name, and can't help himself.

"OK, now this is just getting ridiculous!" Crux accidently says out loud. All the heroes and turn and stare at Crux. Crux just puts his head down. The Doctor floats over to the gathering of heroes.

"This might be "ridiculous" to you, Mr. Hesiod. But this "ridiculousness" is going to save the world."

Owen jumped out of his ship and walked into a bar of a strange planet, clad in his crimson and navy armor, his mask on.

A young woman stared at him as he walked in. He looked around the bar until he finally saw her. He walked over, his mask retracting from his face. She pushed some of her long dark hair out of her eyes.

"You must be that Lantern hunter I've been hearing about." The woman smirked.

"Yeah. I have a proposition you might be interested in..." Owen looked into her eyes.

"Really?" The woman questioned.

Owen nodded.

"A bet. There's a training center for Green Lanterns on one of the moons of Hyrot. We both go there and whoever kills the most rookies there gets a large amount of money." Owen explained.

"How much money..." The woman was interested.

"How ever much you want to make the bet for." Owen snickered.

"Do you have the money to back that up?" The woman wondered.

"I had a history of bounty hunting. Made me quite a bit of money." Owen took a glass of wine from the table and drank it.

"Fine. Deal." The woman known as Fatality grinned.

Owen smiled back.

"Great."

Mining world Prosperous

Severance, Kell and iolande land outside of the main mining facility. However they notice that all the doors have been welded shut. most likely by the captor, in order to prevent anyone from getting in or out.

"Stand back everyone! I´m blasting this doors wide open!" Says Iolande.

"Wait! No!" Sev grabs her arm preveting Iolande from shootting.

"Are you out of your freaking MIND?"

"The explosion would be heard all across the outpost. What do you think would happen next?"

"Then, by all means, Sev, explain, how do enter the damm thing?"

Severance points to small sweage entrange left open.

"It´s large enought for two normal persons to enter. We can use it to get it inside withouth being noticed."

Kell notices that the entrange is way too small for a large guy like him.

"I can enter that Sev. you two move ahead. I´ll stay here, as soon has you two lsecure the hostages, I´ll blast open the doors and move in."

"There´s no way I´m going into the sweages!"

"Afraid to get dirty..Princess?"

"I´m a member of the Royal House of Betra.." She´s cut off by Severance.


"Blábláblá.. You´re also a Green Lantern, so quit complaing and let´s get going."

It was to no avail arguing whit Sev. Besides every minute they spent outside was precious time. They didn´t knew how long the Children of the White Lobe would tolerate their hostages.

"Fine, let´s get going."

"Kell." Sev turns towards him "Take care, anything just contact us ok?"

The large alien nodded in response.

And the two female lanterns enter the sweage.

Severance and Iolande crawl through the sewage. The stench of used liquids, rotten flesh and dejects makes their job hard.

"The stench..it seems to be penetrating my shield. It´s awfull!"

"Quit complaning. I passed trought much worse in the Cerulian Wars."

Iolande knew about those wars and of a certain warrior that fought in them.

"So you foung alongside Harses?

"Yeah, I made several missions with him. He was good warrior and nice guy, I actually felt a bond with him, even planned to return and settle down with him after the war, but then, I found out he was dead. Decided to continue my career of gun-for-hire."

"Sorry..." Iolande replies to Sev in a sad tone.

"For what?"

"That was my brother´s fault. He was obessed on becoming one of us. So much that he.."

"I know Iolande. Rest assured, I hold nothing against you. None of what happened was your fault."

"Still, if I had found out..."

"He would have killed you too. He was becoming insane."

"But still I..." Before she finnishes Severance cuts her again.

Severance peeks through an opening and sees several people carrying minerals and also being hold in a line. Surroinding them are several Children of the White Lobe, all of them armed.

"Ok, we´re here, now what?

A man ran through the dark alleys through the night life of the city. The alleyway was quiet, no one in sight. The man gasped for breath, his face sweating.

He stopped his run and leaned against one of the building walls, trying to catch his breath. He stared at the ground, sweat pouring down his face. There was a sudden noise and the man's eyes darted up to see a creepy figure in front of him with his mouth sewn up yet still open. The figure was holding a sharp knife.

"Boo."

The screams filled the air. Moments later, the attacker stood above the man's body, flipping his blade around, liking blood off of his sewn up lips.

"Interesting talent." A voice came from behind him.

The attacker quickly turned around and threw his blade at the unknown arrival.

Electricity sparked and the knife richocheted into a wall. Pyrazal stood before him with Vigate at his side.

"I've been watching you, Raptyr. You have a great gift."

Raptyr looked at Pyrazal and then at Vigate. Raptyr wore a long gray coat but as he picked up his knife, he opened up his coat revealing dozens of knives in the inner pockets.

"I'm pretty good with a blade." He replied, cautious.

"Well how would you like to put your talents to the test?" Pyrazal smiled.

"Haha. I'd love to. Just tell me what I need to do and I'm in." Raptyr grinned, his mouth being pushed back from being sewn.

Sector 3241: Restoria

Guy Gardner, and his on again/off again girlfriend Tora sit on the beautiful beach of the planet known as Restoria. They enjoy the warm sun, and sip on various beverages.

"Life is good, isn't it Tora?" asks Guy rhetorically.

"It is Guy, I'm glad I have the chance to live it," replies Tora, "even if I have to spend some of it with you."

"Ha ha. We all know I'm the only guy for you, babe." says Guy as he takes another drink.

High above in the sky, a green shape descends toward the beach front. People stop what they are doing and look up to the sky, both with fear and wonder. It comes into view, a massive battle cruiser, and casts its shadow down on the beach. The sun is blocked by the ship, but filters through casting a beautiful green light on all beneath it.

The ship stops about 200 feet from the ground, and X'ovious Zatharos emerges from underneath it. He flies down to beach front, and walks up towards Guy and Tora.

"Hey! Would ya look at that, the scrap heap is still in one piece." jokes Guy. "Tora, this is X'ovious, hes a real hard ass. X'ov, this is Tora, my old lady."

"Nice to meet you Tora, you have my deepest sympathy." X'ov replies, cutting straight to the chase. "The mission is complete, Crux and I were successful."

"Of course, I knew all along ya could do it." Guy says turning to Tora, "I just wanted some time with my girl. Being an Honor Guard, is a full time job, ya know."

"Sure Gardner. Whatever you say," X'ov is not impressed with Guys showmanship, but he ignores it, "now I want something in return."

"In return? YOU asked ME to take this mission, and now you expect something from me? Give me a break." Guy says as he folds his arms in front of him.

"I will not take no for an answer Gardner. But I won't distrub your precious vacation any longer. All I'll say now is that I know about your involvement in the Rann/Thanagar war, and your encounter with the Tormochs and remaining Vuldarians." X'ov says, much to Guys surprise.

"How the hell do you know about that?" asks Guy.

"Thank your old friend G'nort for the info, next time you see him. Regardless, when you are finished here, I want you to contact me. My request is not a big one, but it requires some amount of discussion." X'ov turns away and begins to head back to his shop construct. "Enjoy yourself, Guy."

"Yeah yeah..." shrugs Guy.

"Nice to meet you!" Tora yells after X'ov.

X'ov re-enters his ship and takes off into space. He intends to head back to his home sector, but something strange creeps into his mind. He feels some sort of a tugging feeling, drawing him deep into the higher sectors. He can't make sense of this feeling, it is unlike anything he has felt before. Suddenly the memory of his friend Kcirtap Yug comes into his mind. He decides to head to the planet Yug, so check up on things.

A few miles from where X'ovious' ship came down on Restoria, another ship landed as well. This one appeared to be some sort of light battle ship. It landed in an area of dense trees and brush, to remain concealed.

The pilot emerges from his cock-pit, and jumps to the ground. Two black and blue boots make contact with the ground, but leave no footprints. The figure walks toward the beach area where X'ov, Guy and Tora were just talking.

"Green Lantern X'ovious located. Tracking engaged." says the Hunger Dog.

Space Sector 2814: The Planet Earth: The Homebase of the Judgement League Avengers

The homebase of the Judgement League Avengers is full. The heroes inside are planning their counter-attack against an uncovered plot. Among these heroes are Super-Soldier, Dark Claw, Amazon, Aqua-Mariner, Speed Demon, Iron Lantern, and Mister X. Another hero will be arriving soon, Dr. Strangefate, with Thom Kallor, a.k.a. Starman.

"So, what's the plan?" Super-Soldier asks.

"We won't know until the Doctor arrives with this guy..." Dark Claw says.

"His name is Thom Kallor, a.k.a. Starman." Crux corrects, in a somewhat bitter tone.

"And I care." Dark Claw responds in a snarky tone.

"Well, you should." Crux says, "I risked my life to bring this guy back from where YOUR friend dragged him. And, without him, your world will most likely fall beneath this Magnus guy. So, back off." Crux says with an annoyed look. Dark Claw and Crux just glare at each other for another moment before Amazon steps in.

"This is no time for your petty crap. Now, BOTH OF YOU, step away." Amazon warns. Both men glare at each other once more, then step away from each other.

"...ignorant jackass..." Dark Claw mutters under his breath.

"...ok, THAT'S IT!" Crux leaps and tackles Dark Claw to the ground. Crux then begins to punch Dark Claw across the face. He gets several hits in before Dark Claw fights back. Dark Claw kicks Crux off of him, leaps up, and slams Crux into the ground. He pops out his claws, and lunges them down at Crux. But, before they can make contact, Crux forms up a shield between him and the claws.

"BACK OFF, PSYCHO!" Crux then forms up a construct fist, and slams it underneath Dark Claw's stomach. This launches Dark Claw backwards, but, Dark CLaw lands on his feet. Crux then jumps back up. They both lunge at each other, but are divided by a purlple shield in between them.

"ENOUGH." A voice yells. Both men turn and see that Doctor Strangefate has arrived, with Thom."

"Hey, Starman." Crux says, walking over to him, "Good to see you in one piece."

"Hey, Green Looney!" Starman says, as cheerful as ever.

"I told you, Starman, it's Green LANTERN." Crux corrects.

"Like anyone cares..." Dark Claw says.

"Yeah? Well, the BILLION or so people I guard over thousands of miles of space care. So, why don't you go and ask them if they care who protects them." Crux says back, "Or, better yet, you could ask my sector partner. I'm sure he'd LOVE to meet someone who disrespects what we do." Crux finishes.

"THAT IS ENOUGH!" The Doctor yells, exerting a purple energy flame from his being, "Now, we are ALL heroes. Which means we ALL believe in fighting the good fight. So, if you two are done with this arguement amongst yourselves, I'd like to get back to FIGHTING that fight. Agreed?" The Doctor asks. There is a moment of silence, some harsh looks exchanged, but eventually, both men speak.

"Sure." Crux says.

"Whatever." Dark Claw says.

"Good."

"WOW! What a way to welcome a guy!" An unknown voice calls out. Everyone looks around the room, looking for the source of the voice. But, nobody is here.

"Up here!" The voice calls. Everyone looks up at the ceiling, and sees a young man in a black jacket, a blue and red suit, and a spider insignia in the middle of his chest.

"Spider-Boy?!" Super-Soldier yells out, concerned, "What are you doing here!?"

"I invited him on this mission, Super-Soldier." The Doctor interjects. Super-Soldier looks at the Doctor like he is crazy. "His skill could be of some use to us. Plus, every young hero has to get his start somewhere. I figure this opportunity is as good as any." The Doctor finishes. Just then, The boy drops to the floor.

"And ya couldn't have chose a better time, Doc! I am SO ready for this mission." Spider-Boy says confidently. Crux takes a look at the boy, and sees that he is a young hero.

"Who is this kid?" Crux asks.

"Name's Spider-Boy. Learn it. Live it. Love it!" The boy says.

"Yeah... how about I just learn it?" Crux says rhetorically.

"Do what you want. But, one day, the name Spider-Boy will be known all over the world."

"Yeah, well, hopefully, I won't be AROUND for that day. After this mission, I'm taking Starman back home." Crux says.

"good riddance..." Dark Claw says under his breath.

"What?" Starman interjects, "You're taking me home later?"

"Yeah, Thom. I am."

"GOOD! Because, if I'm right, tomorrow is Sloppy Joe day at the Asylum!" Starman says happily.

"Asylum?" Dark Claw asks, curious.

"Yeah. When Thom is not doing his superhero duty, he resides in a mental asylum." Everyone is silent.

"Why am I not surprised? In YOUR world, you let crazies be superheroes." Dark Claw says.

"OK, first of all, he's NOT a "crazy". He's a schizophrenic. The 21st Century drugs we give him just don't work. SECOND, even if he IS a "crazy", your world must be pretty lacking in heroes to need HIS help." Crux retorts.

"Whatever..." Dark Claw says, walking away. But, he stops himself, and turns around, "21st century?" He asks.

"Oh, yeah, Thom is from the 31st century." Crux says. Everyone is silent again. Finally, Crux breaks the silence.

"What?"

"Alright, enough talk. Let's get down to business." The Doctor says. All the heroes converge on the middle table. They all take a seat, and begin their meeting.

"Now," The Doctor begins, "I assume you all know that I had recently uncovered a plot devised by Doctor Magnus to control Magneto and the Magnetic Men. Now, this meeting was called to unveil the details of that plot." The Doctor says. He walks over to a computer with a jumbo viewing screen, implants a disk in the drive, and uploads a computer file. Once the file is up, a picture of Will Magnus and Magneto & The Magnetic Men pop up.

"OK, so, recently, Will Magnus discovered that, through methods unknown, he could control Magneto, along with his Magnetic Men. Now, after Magnus made this discovery, a few days later, Magneto and the Magnetic Men dropped off the grid. No check-ins. No contact with any other heroes. NOTHING. So, we can only assume that they are busy devising their plan." The Doctor says.

"So, what's their plot?" Super-Soldier asks.

"Well, as far as I've gathered, they plan to strike Washington, D.C., eliminate the president, and Magnus will establish himself as our new leader. Accompanied by an army of Sentinels, of course." The Doctor says.

"So, how do we stop them?" Crux asks.

"Well, Thom here has powers yet to be unlocked. But, they can only be temporary, for they are vast powers that will drain your energy quickly."

"Sure, OK. But when do I get to blow stuff up!?" Starman asks, enthusiastic.

"Ladies, and gentlemen, our saviour." Dark Claw says. Crux does not respond this time. He just rolls his eyes.

"You won't be "blowing stuff up", Thom. You will be gifted with electromagnetic powers, an extension of your gravitational powers." The Doctor explains, "But, you will only have them for a limited time."

"That's OK. I'm OK with my powers anyways." Thom says.

"Alright then." The Doctor says. Crux then raises his hand.

"Yes, Crux?"

"Uh... what's our counter-attack?" Crux asks.

"Ah, yes. Thank you." The Doctor says. He then brings up another folder. It displays a map of Washington, D.C.

"We will be split up into three groups. One group will dismantle the army of Sentinels. The second will deal with Magneto and the Magnetic Men. Now, this is crucial. We cannot harm them. We must only break the conrol that Magnus has over them, which is what the third group will be doing."

"Now, who's in what group?" Dark Claw asks.

"Group One will have to have massive stamina, seeing as how this is a massive army. So, I am assigning Super-Soldier, you, Dark Claw, Amazon, Spider-Boy, and Aqua-Mariner to Group 1. The second group will have to be able to disable the controlled, without hurting Magneto, or the Men. So, this team will consist of Speed Demon, Iron Lantern, and, you, Thom.

"OK!" Starman says cheerfully.

"...Oh, and, Speed Demon, remember, heat makes magnets lose their charge." The Doctor says.

"Noted." Speed Demon replies.

"And, the third group will handle Magnus, which will be made up of myself, Crux, and Mister X." The Doctor finishes. The computer shuts down.

"Any objections?" The Doctor asks.

"Uh, yeah, I got one..." A muffled voice yells from outside the walls of the base. Suddenly, an explosion breaks through the base, breaks down the wall, and creates a minor tremor in the area. All the heroes are knocked backwards, thrown from the blast. It takes a moment, but, eventually, the heroes rise up from the ground. Then, the smoke clears. The heroes see what the smoke reveals. They see a being in purple and maroon. He wears a helmet with electric discharge coming off of it. Behins him, stands a being clad entirely in red, yellow, and blue armor, and accompanied by 5 being, each seeming to be made of an entirely different substance from the other. Also, the beings are followed by large purple and blue beings, seeming to be robots. Finally the group realizes who this threat is: Will Magnus, Magneto and the Metal Men, and a Sentinel army. Finally, Magnus speaks again.

"...You didn't call ME to this meeting." He says with a sinister grin. Then, that grin melts to a serious look.

"KILL THEM!"

"See that large construction crane over there?" Sev points to to said structure.

"And...?"

"That, Princess, is what we call, a distraction."

"I´m not following it..."

"Sight...As soon has that thing hits the ground, form a bubble arround the hostages. I´ll cover you from those phsicothic brats. Got it?"

"I find that tactic a litlle.."

"Simple `yes´ or `no´ will be enought princess."

"Fine, I got it!" Replies a slighty annoyed Iolande.

Sev carefully and withouth being noticed moves into position. She has just one chance to hit her target. for her sake and for the hostages, she needs to get it right in her first try.

"Got to time it right..." She thinks.

"3...2..1"

"BOOMMM!" The large crane falls into the ground, sending dust and debris across the area, but also spreading confusion into hostages and hostage takers alike. Using this window of opportunity, iolande and Sev more into the open.

"What´s the meaning of this?!" Several of the Children say in confusion.

"Iolande, NOW!" She shouts.

"Latern scum! Kill them all, in the name of the White Lobe!"

"Well, there´s too many of them. Kell, we need hep, right now!" She calls Kell throught her ring.

An explosion rips the roof of the plant apart. Kell proceeds to descend and aiding Severance in containing the Children of White Lobe.

"Stupid litlle freaks!

"Kell, search and eliminate each and everyone of those damm kids." She shouts while blasting several Children of the White Lobe.

Iolande helps takes the hostages to safely.

"Hey don´t leave us here."

"Sorry, but my partner needs help. You will all be ok. I´m sending you to the nearest space station. Ring, locate and transport all hostages to neareast safe point."

Iolande returns to the plant after sending the hostages away.

Hostages secured Sev. I think we got all of those kids. No prisioners though. They prefer death before surrendering."

Sev stays a little behind to see if anyone was left. But somehow, one the Children of the White Lobe survived and manages to get the jump on her.

"For the White Lobe!"

Kell still manages to shout out a warning towards Sev.

"Sev, shield up!"

BOOMMM

Kell and Iolande get knocked down by the explosion, but quickly regain their senses and got up. Severance however was nowhere in sight.

After the dust settle in, they both start searching for Severance.

"Think she´s..."

"I never saw her ring flying, but that blink bomb.."

"I-I..m..Not dead yet." Says a voice.

Severance rises up from the debries, still wrapped in a shield bubble she formed to protect herself from the blast. But she´s a poor state. But she cant on her two feet.

"Sev, you´re ok?"

"Better than you P-Princess." She replies before colapsing into the ground.

Severance wakes up and slowly opens her eyes trying to get the notion on where she is.

"W-Where am I?"

"Easy there, Sev. You´re on Oa. Your partners brought you back while you where unconscious. The shield protected you from the blink bom, but you´re a mess though, broken arm, several cuts, you´re lucky they brought you here in time." Replies Natu.

Natu then finnishes wrapping up some bandages on Sev´s arm.

"Take your time to wake up. Your partners are waiting in the mess all. I already told them you had awaken." She then goes off to check upon her other pacients.

Mess hall

The doors open and Severance came throught. She still wears some bandages and some bruises but otherwise is more or less fine, thanks to Natu.

Kell and Iolande had been waiting for her in the mess hall like Natu had said.

"Glad to see you walking on your two feet Sev. I was kind..worried we lost you over there." Says Iolande smiling.

"Oh Sev, Salaak has told us we earned ourelves a little shore leave beacause of our recent activities. Also...we got you a gift. Well, she did actually." Kell point to Iolande,.

Iolande puts a bottle on top of the table along with three glasses.

"It´s 250 year old liccor. Got it from the royal reserve back home. Figure we should celebrate."

"Celebrate what?"

"Well for starters, the fact that we three are here in one piece and that I´m permantly your third partner. Salaak just made it official." Replies Iolande as she fills the three glasses.

"Guess you´re gonna have to deal with her know." Says Kell.

"Oh well...What the heck." She raises her glass. "To new friends and to those we left behind."

"To friends and to the fallen!" They all say in one voice.

And the trio raises their glasses high in the air.

A ship, identical to one that just landed on Restoria, nears the vacation planet. It is following the energy trail left by X'ovious. The same trail the other ship was following when it made contact on the planet.

"Ah, so the Lantern has already been and gone from this planet. Good. Let my rival waste his time searching this planet for him, while I make the kill. Yes, the bounty shall be mine, and mine alone."

"Whats wrong Guy? You don't get along with him either?" asks Tora. Guy has been strangely quiet since his short conversation with X'ovious Zatharos.

"Nah, it ain't that. You know how my stomach gets when I even hear about that loser G'nort..." replies Guy as he grabs his drink, "Whatever, I'll deal with that chump later. I'm here for you baby, and only you."

In the distance, some distance from where Guy and Tora are relaxing on the beach, the first Hunger Dog stands in the shadows of a building. He scans the area, and is unable to locate his target. He does, however, lock on to Guy.

"One Ring is as good as another. An Honor Guards skin will go nicely on my plaque." he thinks to himself as his clothes transform into that of a drink server. He walks to where Guy and Tora are sitting.

"Another drink, sir?" asks the drink server.

"Um...someone just brought us another round." says Tora.

"This ones on the house, appreciation for having a Green Lantern in our midst." replies the server.

"Bout time they show me some respect around here!" Guy exclaims as he reaches for the drink tray. Suddenly, an odd feeling comes over him, "Wait a minute...these guys never give away stuff for free..."

Guy looks up at the server, and notices a red flash in his eyes.

"Tora! Get down!" he yells. He just barely manages to form a shield construct before a massive explosion detonates from the drink tray. "Dammit!"

"Surrender now Green Lantern, and I shall end you quickly." says the fully exposed Hunger Dog as he aims a blaster right at Guys head.

"Yeah right." Guy forms a baseball bat and slams the gun out of the Hunger Dogs hand, "as if I'd ever bow to a dog like you!"

Guy stands and punches the Hunger Dog in the face, then again in the gut. He goes for another head shot, but the Hunger Dog grabs his fist and twists his arm nearly out of its socket. Luckily for Guy, Tora blasts the Hunger Dog in the chest with a burst of ice, and sends him flying backward into the ocean.

Guy stands next to Tora, and his GL suit forms over his vacation clothes.

"Alright babe, lets kick some ass." Guy says to Tora.

"Its been a while, should be fun." she replies as she gives him a little smirk.

The Hunger Dog emerges from the ocean, two large machine guns aimed at the heroes. He opens fire, unleashing a large volley of bullet fire at them. Guys shield, supported by an ice wall of Tora's, manages to stop the bullets.

"You go low, I'll go high." Guy orders Tora.

Tora begins to freeze the water around the Hunger Dogs legs as Guy takes to the skies and blasts down on him with dog bone constructs. The Hunger Dog tosses a grenade into the air, which explodes sending Guy backward into a small beach house.

He turns and faces Tora. From his right arm, a high powered laser melts away the ice at his feet, while he blasts at her with a high caliber hand gun. Tora runs and dives behind a small pile of sand, until a green shield forms around her and takes her further back on the beach.

"You wanna see fire power buddy? Here ya go!" Guy forms two massive machine gun turret constructs, and unloads on the Hunger Dog. The Hunger Dog covers his face, but is overtaken by the sheer number of bullets coming at him. He falls backward and hits the ground. "Thats right bitch, stay down."

"Put this guy on ice, will ya sexy?" asks Guy of Tora.

"You got it, hun." Tora raises her arms and blasts the Hunger Dog with ice. Within seconds, he is completely frozen in a block of ice. Guy and Tora begin walking over to him.

"Man, what a jerk. Why did he come for you Guy?" asks Tora.

"Well, I am the best Green Lantern there is. Its no surprise the best bounty hunters in the Universe want a piece of me." says Guy as he points to himself with his thumb.

Little do the two heroes know, but the Hunger Dog has a thermal output device on his suit. The block of ice, while appearing solid, is reduced to a thin covering.

As the two stand over the Hunger Dog, looking down at him, he bursts forth from the ice block. He blasts Guy in the chest with a plasma rifle, and grabs Tora by the throat. He squeezes hard, chocking her.

"Such arrogance. You are a fool Gardner. I am not here for you, nor your pathetic "girl". I am here for X'ovious Zatharos." the Hunger Dog tightens his grip on Tora, his rifle still aimed at Guy. "Tell me where he is, or she dies."

"He's gone. Now, get your dirty hands off her pal, or you're shark bait." Guy says with anger in his voice. He raises his ring and aims it at the Hunger Dog.

"Fine then. Say goodbye to your girl Lantern, and get ready to kiss your own life goodbye as well." The Hunger Dog turns and looks Tora in the eyes, before tightening his grip again. She gasps for air, but cannot get any.

"I said: GET. YOUR. HAND. OFF. HER!!" Guy goes red in the face with rage, his ring sparks like a fountain. An instant later, a giant meat clever comes down on the Hunger Dogs are, cutting his entire forearm off.

Tora screams, as does the Hunger Dog.

"Ugh, you'll pay for that one..." The Hunger Dog reaches around and grabs a bomb. He tosses it on the beach, turns and begins to run away.

Guy has only a millisecond to form a sheild around himself and Tora as the bomb goes off. An area 100 feet in all directions is completely vaporized. The Hunger Dog is nowhere to be found.

"Tora? Tora are you ok?" asks a fantic Guy.

"Yeah...I'm fine. Nothing a drink won't fix, right Guy?" says Tora with a small smile on her face.

"Thats why I love ya babe." says Guy. The two head up, away from the beach, toward their hotel room.

"Now...maybe its my old hearing, or maybe I'm just losing my mind, but did I hear you call me 'hun' earlier?" asks Guy as the two walk, Guys arm over Tora's shoulder, up the beach.

Tales of the Green Lantern Corps presents: Severance Drak

Sector 1417

Betrassus

"Uh Sev, why do we have to come here? I mean, I heard Restoria is where most people go on shore leave. Guy told me it´s a great place to rest."

"Well, Iolande personally invited us here, and she went to some efortts for that, so I guess that we are gonna start working together we should try to know more about eachother. "Besides.." Sev smiles. "I never been into a palace before."

The two arrive in Betrassus and waiting for them is Iolande along with with her royal advisor.

"Welcome to Betrassus my friends. Glad to see you came. This is my my royal advisor Jeanal."

"We are honored to receive the brothers-in-arms of our soberan. She has spoke very well of you."

"Uh..thanks..?" Says Kell, somewhat unused to such protocol.

"Come, I´ll show around." She then turns towards one of her aides. "Get their rooms ready."

"As you wish, highness." The aide goes away.

"Really, Iolande there´s no need..."

"Nonsense Sev, you two are my guests here. Besides we are all on shore leave."

Iolande accompanies Sev and Kell into the palace. As they enter they come across a group of soldiers that were heading off to a cantine outside the palace.

"Hey, look guys. It´s a Green Lantern. You, there!"

Kell turns to the trooper.

"My name is Captain Keral. It would be a honour to have you join us for some drinks."

Kell turns towards Severance."Will you be ok Sev?"

"It´s ok Kell, you can go. Just contact me if anything comes up."

"Will do."

"Let´s see if this Lantern can stand our drinks!" One of the soldiers says.

"Well, Kell seems to have made some friends already." Iolande laughts.

"So it seems."

The two walk across the long halls. Iolande was trying to talk more with Sev about her past. She was taking great care not to open old wounds. She already found out that Sev tended to be a bit temperamental.

"So, uh..Sev, back on Prosperous you told me that fought alonside Harses Zax, right? He was legend even here. His tales are well know across Bellatrus. He is revered as a hero and a freedom fighter even here. Never meet him, but I wished I had. How did you two met?"

"Well, like I said, I meet in the Cerulian Wars. It seems that while the Cerulians are rich people they don´t have a large army, so when they where invaded by their neightbors, they had to recruite mercenaries and off-world soldiers from across the sector. They eventually found me and Harses. At first there was a little competition between us two, but the more missions we took together, the more friends we became and eventually we became..."

"Intimate?" Iolande asks.

"I guess you can say that. He was the closest thing I had to a companion. He was a little full of himself, but he was..." She stops at the rememberance of her past. "A honorable soldier, a good friend and man of his word. I still remember the last battle we fought together in Cerus."

"Mind telling the tale Sev?"

Sev considered her request. She gazes through a window for while but agrees. She sights, for sometimes it hard to remember.

"Well, I don´t share this story with most people, but I guess you earned the privelege. So you want to hear a good war story Princess? Then sit back and enjoy the ride."

Flashback:

Battle of Kares, last campaing of the Cerullian wars.

The sound of explosions and plasma fire was heard across the battlegrounds. It was the last battle of the Cerullian campaing, but their enemy was well dug in and it was ready to fight to last man. Harses´s regiment was being hit with several types of ordenace fired from an artilley position. The were pinned down and unable to counter-attack.

"Damm it, where is the airbone infantry?!" Those artillery guns are pounding the living hell out of us. We need them destroyed" Says Harses.

"Hold on! We´re coming!" Says a voice throught an intercomm.

"What took you so long Sev?! We have war to win!"

"I was getting ready to see you. Did you miss me, hun?" She replies sarcarsticly.

"Oh Ha-Ha..Very funny Sev, in case you haven´t noticed I´m being pounded into tiny pieces, so I´d appreciate a little help down here!"

The Ebon Hawk aproaches the battlezone. Inside of it, it carries a special elite team of Duranian Commando mercenaries in jump jet suits. Their mission is to destroy those guns, so that Harses regiment can move in and capture their main ammo deppot.

"Ok Cap, tell your men to get ready. We got some flak fire, but we are moving into the drop zone now. Get ready to drop in and take out those artillery guns."

Before the captain can reply a flak shelll hits the Ebon Hawk on the right side making a large hole in her fuselage. Several of the mercenaries fall into the ground having no time to get their suits ready. Sev manages to turn the shields on and stabilizes the ship. She was still determined to acomplish their mission.

"The Captain is dead. Now what?!" Shouts one the mercs.

Sev puts the ship on autopilot, grabs her weapons, turns to the soldier and replies.

"Now we jump, feet first into hell!"

Mit's eyes snapped open to see Zorox sitting next to him in a chair.

"Where the hell am I?" Mit barked.

Zorox smiled.

"You're alive. I thought Ion had his way with you." Zorox chuckled.

Mit sat up on the bed he was laying on. He suddenly felt a great pain in his right shoulder. He looked down to see that his right arm below his elbow was gone. Tears started to form in his eyes.

"Oh hell...damn..." Mit grasped what was left of his arm.

Zorox folded his arms.

"We can worry about your arm later. We need to go back after Pyrazal. Rumors are spreading apparently. In sector 2425, a serial killer was picked up by a man believed to have red eyes and another figure clad in black armor." Zorox explained.

Mit twitched from the pain as he shifted his position on the bed.

"Pyarazal and Vigate?" Mit asked.

Zorox nodded.

Mit looked at Zorox's eyes and saw the eagerness.

"...Fine...let's...go..." Mit winced, holding the remainder of his arm.

On a cliff above a Green Lantern rookie training area, two figures stand, watching, waiting.

Owen stands with his arms folded, his mask on, and wearing his suit.

"Ready to have some fun?" Owen asks the second, a woman known as Fatality.

"Absolutely." She grinned as she raised her yellow ring and aimed it down towards the unsuspecting rookies.

Owen kneeled down besides a briefcase next to him. He opened it up and pulled out a scoped blaster rifle and aimed.

"Heh heh. Showtime." Owen's voice cracked through the mask.

Extra Abilities: Emitting Electricity

History: Thygraz Vovraz grew up on the planet Syvraz, a planet in the outer rim of Sector 1760. The planet's inhabitants are all charged with an electrical energy at birth which they carry with them for the rest of their lives. Though they can learn to master the power if they choose but it takes years and years of practice. Thygraz's father left him and his mother shortly after Thygraz's birth. Thygraz ran from home at the age of 18 and took the alias "Spark" and decided to master his electrical abilities. He became a hermit in the mountains of Syvraz in order to master them. He has become very experienced and skilled with his powers but has yet to master them 5 years after leaving his home.

Description: A bit of a goof, Spark usually is founding eating, enjoying a nice nap, or practice with his abilities. He enjoys having fun and can be caught partying to music up in his cottage in the mountains of Syvraz. Though happy go lucky, Spark is very determined to become the most powerful being on his planet.

Flashback:

Battle of Kares, last campaing of the Cerullian wars.

"Hold on boys! We got a welcome comitte down there!" Shouted Sev, as the the soldiers started landing. On the ground several enemy troopers came out of the trenches and started firing.

She pulls from her rifle in midjump and kill the two enemy soldiers manning the antipersonnal turrets. After that she and the troops hit the ground.

"INCOMING!"

Several enemy troops charge at Sev and the commandos, guns blazing. Sev and the others take cover and a firefight ensues.

"Keep pushing!" Sev shouts.

Two of the commandos take control of one of the antipersonall guns emplacements. After a short but furious fight they manage to force the defenders into a retreat.

"Sir, what´s the or-" A bullet hits one of the commandos in the head and he falls to the ground.

"Sniper! Take cover!" She shouts, while two more commandos fall dead from the shots.

"Shit...I´m pined down..How am I..." She looks to a sniper rifle laying in the ground. It´s put in the open, but if she can be fast enough...


"Gotta..get.."

She runs as fast as she can while bullets miss her only by an inch. She cathes the rifle and jumps into safe cover again. She loads ther gun and moves into position.

"Show me your face pretty..."

The sniper aims for another shot but before he can fire, Sev notices him and presses the trigger gently.

BANG!

The enemy sniper falls dead. She then signals the surving commandos.

"Sniper down! Missile team, take out those guns!"

The soldiers carrying the missile lauchers did their job and took out the heavy artillery guns. Sev and the other killed their gunners and placed demolition charges on the other remaining weapons.

"Harses, the guns are destroyed! Move in, before they realize what hit them!"

"Got it Sev." He replies through the intercomm.

"Alright you bunch of vermins!" He adresses his men "Let´s go finnish our job so we can win this war!"

And they storm the enemy base.

12 hours later.....

Harses, Sev and the troops under their command had managed to capture the main suplly base. They had establish a camp with other mercenaries and were waiting instructions on what to do next.

A Cerullian captain aproaches the mercenary camp.

"We have good news to you all. The Trinari have pushed for a cease-fire treaty and are withdrawing their forces to their homeworld. Thanks to you Cerus is safe now. Just to inform that you will receive the payment for your services shortly after their last ship leaves our world."

Sev, grining calls for Harses who had just leaft the commanding post.

"Hey, didn´t you knew? It´s over we won!"

"Well, then call the others and break out the booze, it´s time for celebration!"

There was a large celebration in the camp that lasted for the night.The war had been gone for two years, but know it was over and the mercs were getting payed nad could finaly leave Ceros.

The morning after.

Sev sats in abox off amo reading a message that she´s got recently. Harses then aproaches her.

"So, Sev, did you have time to think about my proposal?"

"About that, Harses..uh listen, another job came up, and well, it´s just too many credits to pass. I´m packing my stuff and leaving as soon as I get paid here. Sorry.."

Harses was a bit displeased. He hopped tha Sev would stick around for some time. But well, this was the life of a mercenary and Sev was one of the best. He understood her.

"At least you checked the background of the employer?"

"Yeah, yeah, it´s the Merchant Guild. While not the bastions of honesty and morality, there hardly warlords or tyrants. It´s ok Harses."

"Will you be back?"

"I might....Got some sweet memories from here.." She hugs Harses, kisses him one last time and leaves for her ship.

Back to the present.

"So, you left him?"

"Yeah. I figured it was for the best. Harses and I aren´t the kind of persons who marry, have kids and, and like the humans say "live happly ever after". I planned to see him once again, but then a ring selected me for the Corps and I was sent to Oa. Soon I learned he was dead."

"But you still miss him..."

"Sometimes..."

"I´m sorry..."

"No, Iolande, you have nothing to apologise for. Besides, if I ended up with him, I´d probably be dead and unable to help Lyssa find redemption. It sucks, but sometimes, a choice that seems the right one at first, might not end up being the one in the long term. But one thing I´m sure, he went down like he always wanted to, in the fires of battle."

"Still, he would be proud of what are now Sev. You honour his memory everytime you fight and save someone. I´m sure he´s out there, along with Lyssa, both watching over you."

Sev takes some moments to gaze into horizon and to the night setlling over Betrassus. When they met, she was uneasy with Iolande, but since her first assignement together, the fact she was showing concern over her, maybe because all of that, she was starting to consider her....a friend.

"You know Iolande, guess venting with you helped me. I feell like I had a weight taken of my back. Thanks....Princess." She smiles, maybe with a honesty, for the first time in months.

"You´re welcome Sev. After all, we aren´t just partners. I´d like to consider you as a friend too."

Suddendly a comunication comes from Sev and Iolande´s rings. It was Kell.

"Kell! What´s wrong?"

"Sev, it´s..it´s Arkillo!" He´s here!"

A young man with dark black hair and a maroon colored bandana wrapped around his neck sat on a knocked down trunk of a tree in the mountains of planet Syvraz, alone. He stared at the clouds, trying to see what they looked like. A group of sticks lay on the ground near him.

"Well it's starting to get a little chilly. I can fix that." Thygraz "Spark" Yovraz smiled as his finger began to sparkle with small bolts of electricity.

He pointed his finger at the sticks and a bolt of electricity shot from his index finger and into the sticks, creating a fire.

Spark put his arms behind his head and lay on the trunk of the tree, staring at the sun. He inhaled deeply and then let out a merry sigh, happy for another peaceful day. Suddenly, something hard hit him in the face, knocking him off of the trunk of the tree.

"HEY!" He shouted as he surveyed the area.

Nothing.

Suddenly he looked up a few inches to see a small green object floating and glowing in front of his eyes.

"What the..." It was a ring.

It flew onto his finger and he suddenly was clad in a green suit, his maroon bandana still hanging from his neck.

There was a flash of emerald light and Spark dissapeared.

Sector 2682: Rann


Vorloc stands at one end of the large table. At the other end, sitting in his throne-like chair, his father.

"Why don't you have a seat son? There is obviously a lot to catch up on." invites his father.

"I'd rather stand." Vorloc replies curtly.

"So...tell me. Am I staring at a ghost? Has the liqour finally done my mind in? Am I nothing but an old, demented man now?" replies the old man, frustrated to some extent. "I have no time for games, if I've lost my mind, tell me, so I may end myself now."

"What you see before you is real, father. I am alive, and as you can see, quite well. As to your mental state, of that I cannot comment." says Vorloc as he walks over to where his father sits, grabs the bottle of alcohol, and pours himself a drink.

"We have ice..."

Vorloc downs the drink in one swig.

"Right..."

"So tell me father, what has you here on Rann now? Do you follow the same false god as the rest of these fools? The Lady Styx?" asks Vorloc, pouring himself another drink, as well as his father. They empty the bottle.

Vorlocs father taps on the table twice, then answers his sons question, "Do I believe in the Lady Styx? No, my son. I believe in no "gods". These Rannians are foolish, as are the Thanagarians. Perfect people to exploit during these, "troubled times".

"You see Vorloc, with the collapse of Thanagar, I had to look elsewhere for business. What better avenue than to invest in the weapons market? It was quite simple really. With my connections across the sector, it was easy coming up with the stock. Even easier to secure buyers, on both sides." Vorlocs father smiles, "Ingenious, is it not?"

"Dishonest and unloyal, I see you have changed not." Vorloc replies, rather disgusted by his fathers actions.

Just then, a rear door opens to the chamber. A young, attractive lady walks out, carrying a tray with another bottle and some cigars. "Here you are, dear Ghehegan. And whos your guest?"

"Availia, this is my son, my first born, miraculiously returned from the grave, Vorloc." his father answers as he lights up a cigar, "Please, have one. They are the finest on Rann. "

"I don't smoke." Vorloc says as he stares at the young lady, "who is this?"

"This? This is my new partner, Availia." Ghehegan says as he wraps his arm around her waist.

Vorlocs face turns to one of anger and disgust. "Mother must be so proud..."

"Oh, right. I'm sorry to tell you son, but your mother passed away. After your death, well, she was overcome with grief and sadness. I'm afraid the shock was simply too much for her old body to handle..." Ghehegan replies, a slight smirk on his face, "Luckily for me, Availia was here for me in my time of need. She supported and comforted me in the wake of your death."

"I see." Vorloc says. He believes nothing of what his father is telling him. "And where was my brother, during your 'time of grief and sadness'?"

"Your brother is still on Thanagar, Vorloc. He has returned there, to fight alongside his allies in the Thanagarian army. A true warrior, is he." says Vorlocs father with a large grin on his face, "He has made me proud, very proud."

Vorloc takes this last comment as a personal insult. He has listened to his father spew his lies long enough. A deep seeded rage comes over him, and his hands clench.

"You are a liar, father. I can see through your deception as I can see through this window. You make me sick!" shouts Vorloc.

"Whatever can you mean, my son?" his father replies in as innocent a voice as possible.

"Shut up! Enough filth has come from your mouth already today!" Vorloc slams his hand down on the table, knocking an empty glass off. It hits the ground and shatters.

"You have no right to talk to him like that! This man is a good man! He is my life, and I love him." says Availia.

In an instant, Vorloc has Availia by the throat. He lifts her a good foot of the ground, choking her.

"And you, wench. You disgust me almost as much as my father! You are a whore, a damn slut who has disgraced my families good name!" Vorloc tightens his grip as she flails hopelessly against him.

"Unhand her son! Now!" Ghehegan says.

"Look at you father, you are pathetic. You cannot even rise from your chair to stop me." Vorloc shouts at his dad.

Ghehegan begins, slowly, to stand up from his chair, but he is kicked back into it by Vorloc and both he and the chair fly across the room, into the wall. Vorloc tosses the bottle of booze at his father. "Have another drink, father, for it will be your last."

With a twist of his wrist, Vorloc snaps the young ladies neck. She falls, lifeless, to the ground. With all the commotion, two guards open the door into the chamber. Before they can even speak a word, Vorloc has blasted them both in the chest with a hand-gun construct from his Power Rod.

"S, son, why?" pleads his father.

"I have returned for my birthright, father. It rightfully belongs to me, and I shall claim it as my own." Vorloc looks down and away from his father, "I had hoped for something different. I had hoped to find you and mother, happy, retired. Ready to live out the rest of your lives together. I had hoped to find my younger brother, a warrior, ready to hand over the birthright to me, the first born, as it should be. But instead I find this. My mother, dead, how I will never know. You, drunk off your ass, with a women half my age. I have no doubt you had a hand in my mothers death, no doubt at all."

"Son, you have it all wrong! You are blinded by rage! Please, please calm down, let us talk." pleads Ghehegan.

"I am not blinded by anything father. I seek justice and truth. I seek what is rightfully mine, by decree! By tradition!" Vorloc grabs his father by the collar of his shirt and yanks him to his feet.

"B,but you died son! How was anyone to know you'd be back?" its the only thing his father can think of to say.

"Well, luckily for me, and unluckily for you it would seem, The Controllers thought higher of me than my own family. Thank them for my return." Vorloc is smiling now, the rage gone. "But please, thank me for your death."

"No! N, no son! I can give you anything you want! Anything!" Tears now stream from his fathers eyes.

"All I want, is my birthright." says Vorloc, considering for a second sparing his father.

"Your brother...h,he has it." Ghehegan replies, a glimer of hope shines in his eyes. Hope that he may yet live.

"Where is he!?" Demands Vorloc.

"I told you, hes..."

"No more lies! Hyerligun was more like you than anyone else. I know hes not fighting alongside the Thanagarians right now. The truth, or death." Vorlocs patience has run out.

Ghehegan lowers his head, "He is here, my son. Probably on his way now..."

"Good" Vorloc says as he props his father up on the wall, releasing his grip.

His father stands, back to the wall, a look of relief washes over his face, "Son...you really had me going there for a sec. I need a drink, can you grab me my cup?"

Vorloc turns to grab his fathers cup, but instead he spins back and pins his father to the wall with his left hand. His hand wraps around his throat, but not enough to choke the life out of him. Gehegans eyes are wide with fear.

"Time to take a look at your black heart, father." Vorloc grabs his fathers shirt and rips it from him. He looks down at his fathers old, wrinkled chest.

An instant later, Vorlocs hand plunges through his fathers rib-cage. His father lets out a weak gasp, as Vorloc grabs his heart with his hand. He pulls his fathers heart out of his body, and holds it in front of him, still beating.

"Gah...*gurgle* ggghhuuaaaa..." the life drains from his father.

Vorloc squezes his fathers heart, splattering blood on both of their faces. He releases his grip, and his father slumps to the ground in a pool of blood, dead.

"Goodbye, old man." Vorloc says as he turns. In the doorway, a figure, mouth wide with shock from what he has witnessed.

"What have you done!?" screams Hyerligun.

"Nothing compared to what I'm about to do to you, brother."

Space Sector 2814: The Planet Earth: Homebase of the Judgement League Avengers

"KILL THEM!" Magnus orders. Magneto and his Men march forward, followed by the Sentinels. Doctor Strangefate forms up a magical shield to temporarily hold them off. He then gives out orders.

"OK, SPLIT UP IN YOUR GROUPS!" The Doctor orders, trying to talk over the sound of reigning blasts, "LANTERN!"

"YEAH!" Crux and Iron Lantern both answer at the same time. They then look at each other, confused.

"IRON LANTERN! FLY UP AND SEE HOW MANY SENTINELS WE'RE DEALING WITH!"

"ON IT!" Iron Lantern then bursts up in to the sky to get a bird's eye view. He sees an army of Sentinels, behind Magnus.

"DOC!" Iron Lantern yells.

"YEAH?!"

"LOOKS LIKE A THOUSAND, AS LEAST!" Iron Lantern reports.

"Well then," Doc says to himself. He then continues out loud, "LET'S TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS! CHARGE!" The Doctor drops the shield, and the heroes charge at the army Magnus has collected. All except Thom, whom the Doctor pulls aside. The Doctor then places his hands on Thom's head, and begins to chant a spell. Then, his hands begin to gow. Finally, after a minute or so, the Doctor releases Thom.

"You're powers are now awakened, Thom. Use them wisely!"

"Okeey-dokey!" Thom runs off to join in the battle.

Super-Soldier, Dark Claw, Amazon, Aqua-Mariner, and Spider-Boy begin their attack against the Sentinel army. Super-Soldier approaches a group of Sentinels. He puts his shield out in front, and rams into them. However, the group holds their position. Soon, though, they begin to force, Super-Soldier back.

"GOTTA... HOLD... ON..." Super-Soldier says, willing himself to hold. Then, he begins to walk forward, forcing the Sentinels back. He then bursts his shield out in front of him, knocking back the Sentinels, and causing them to topple onto one another.

"Ha." Soldier says. But, just then, he is grabbed by several Sentinels. Each Sentinel takes a limb, and begins to pull away from Super-Soldier, stretching him back.

"AAAGGH!" Super-Soldier cries in pain. But, through the pain, he begins to pull back. His strength overpowers the four Sentinels, and he drags them in, causing them to collide into each other, and causing an explosion. The explosion sends Super-Soldier flying backwards. He lands, and picks himself up.

"Never doing THAT again..." He says to himself. He then rushes out to meet another group of Sentinels. Meanwhile, Dark Claw meets his own group of Sentinels. He extends his claws, and jams them into two Sentinels. They both short circuit. Dark Claw then dropkicks the non-functioning Sentinels into two more Sentinels, while yanking his claws out at the same time.

"OOF!" Dark Claw grunts as he lands. He jumps back up, and runs toward another Sentinel. He stops in front of it and gets it attention. The Sentinel, without speaking, attacks. He charged at Dark Claw, but Dark Claw dodges and jumps out of the way. The Sentinel charges into a Sentinel across from it, and they both crash and burn.

"Stupid machines..." Dark Claw says. He then runs over to another Sentinel, and jumps onto it's back. He pulls his claw back, and jams it through the head of a Sentinel. Dark Claw then jumps backwards, and kicks the motionless body into another group of Sentinels. Three more go down.

"Ha." Amazon then takes on her own group of Sentinels. She flys up high, then darts downwards toward a Sentinel. She slams full-force into the Sentinel, creating an impact wave while doing so, knocking other Sentinels back. She then pops up through a cloud of dust, and unleashes a burst of electricity around her. All the Sentinels in the immediate area short-circuit around her. She then gathers them, and melds the metal into a ball. She then hurls it to the ground, wiping out an entire row of Sentinels.

"TOO easy." She says to herself. Aqua-Mariner also takes on a group of Sentinels. He rises himself into the air by creating a cyclone of water underneath himself. He rises into the air, and summons some water with him. He brings the water into the air, forms the water into ice, and splits them into disks. He then launches them around him, having the disks slice through the Sentinels, cutting them in half. After he has cut half of Sentinels down, he then spreads his cyclone out across the ground. The water collects the Sentinel parts, and drags them back to Aqua-Mariner. He forms up the cyclone again, and this time has Sentinel parts swirling around in it. He then freezes the cyclone around him from the waist down, then shatters it into icicles and scatters them across the battlefield. He then takes excess water, puts the Sentinels parts inside, and lauches them as water balls at the remaining Sentinels. Soon, all the Sentinels around him are down.

"Pfft. Such feeble machines..." He says. Spider-Boy flys overhead, on his way to his first major battle.

"YEE-HAW!" He shouts, swinging over his newly-targeted Sentinel group. He then drops to the ground, and smashes through a Sentinel. He then takes out his Web-Shooter, and blinds some of the Sentinels. He then jumps up, slams into a Sentinel, crushing him against the ground. He then leaps over a Sentinel, webs him, and hurls him into another Sentinel. He then turns, and puches through a Sentinel. The Sentinel falls backwards, and crashes into another Sentinel. Spider-Boy then leaps upwards, and falls back down, punching the ground. This slam sends out a minor tremor around the field, knocking back the Sentinels.

"YEAH!" He yells in victory.

"ATTACK, MY METAL MEN!" Magneto orders. The Magnetic Men fly at the small group of Speed Demon, Iron Lantern, and Thom Kallor, a.k.a. Starman. Speed Demon darts to the right, Thom strifes to the left, and Iron Lantern remains, and forms up a shield. He makes the shield, and slams it into the Metal Men. This knocks the Men back. But, the quickly rebound, and charge at Iron Lantern once more. But, Iron Lantern forms the shield once more. But, Iron, now at the front, charges through the shield. He forces the shield back, and knocks Iron Lantern into a wall. Once Iron Lantern is in the wall, Iron charges once more. Iron pulls back his fist, and then launches it at Iron Lantern. But, before it can hit, it is stopped, and redirected at Bismuth. Iron then charges and hits both Antimony and Nickel. Iron cannot explain his actions. But, soon, he sees a being in black and white controlling him. It is Thom Kallor, utilising his new magnetic powers over Iron.

"WOW! This is easy!" Starman shouts. However, this shout causes Magneto to take notice. He then forces Thom backward with a magnetic wave. But, Speed Demon takes this opportunity to sneak up on Magneto. He runs and grabs onto Magneto, clutching him tightly.

"AH!" Magneto shouts, "GET OFF OF ME!" He orders.

"Not gonna happen, O 'Master of Magnetism'!" Speed Demon says back.

"Fine..." Magneto says. Just then, Speed Demon loosens his grip on Magneto, but not of his own will. Magneto is controlling Speed Demon through the metals in his body. He picks him up, and brings Speed Demon to face him.

"Insolent bug! Do you know who I am!?" Magento asks.

"Yeah..." Speed Demon says. Just then, Speed Demon's hands start to glow with fire. The flame around his skull becomes larger.

"You're one dumb S.O.B.!" Speed Demon the erupts with heat and fire. He intensifies his flame, and draws closer to Magneto. Magneto's powers begin to slowly fade as he approaches.

"WHAT!?" Magneto yells, trying to use his powers again on Speed Demon.

"Yeah, Mags. Fire weakens magnetism. And guess who's got fire to burn!?" Speed Demon then gains an aura of fire, around ten feet tall. The aura then, controlled by Speed Demon, wraps itself around Magneto.

"NO! AGH! IT BURNS!!"

"FIRE BURNS!? REALLY!? GOOD!" Speed Demon closes the aura in on Magneto. The fire intensifies.

"NOOOOO!" Magneto yells. Then, Speed Demon drops the aura. He looks down at Magneto, steaming from the heat. Magneto simply looks upon his hands. He tries to manipulate Speed Demon, but he fails. Speed Demon smiles.

"Here," Speed Demon reaches into his pocket, and pulls out a metal coin. He flips it up into the air, and it lands in front of Magneto. Magneto looks down at the coin, the back up at Speed Demon, "that's probably about all your powers can lift now. Magneto looks up at him, furious.

"I... WILL... HAVE... YOUR... HEAD... !" Magneto yells in cold blood.

"Yeah... good luck with that." Speed Demon says sarcastically. Speed Demon then delivers a kick straight to the chest, and thrust Magento to the ground. Speed Demon the looks back to Starman and Iron Lantern.

"MAGNETO IS DOWN! WE'RE CLEAR!" He says. Iron Lantern and Starman nod, then move in. Starman grabs hold of Bismuth and Antimony, and slams them together with great force. He then puts them in the corner with Magneto. Iron Lantern forms a cage around Nickel, and encases Iron and Cobalt in a compressed sphere. He then brings the constructs back, and hurls them into the wall above Magneto. The slam into the wall, and fall to the ground, completeing the pile. Speed Demon then forms a prison cell made entirely of fire around them, to keep their powers in check.

"Wow... I feel sleepy." Starman says, sitting down.

"S'okay, kid, you're just tired from using your powers. Our job is finished. It's up to the last three now." Iron Lantern says.

Doctor Strangefate, Mister X, and Crux meet Magnus in the base. Magnus is at the computer, sifting through the database files.

"Why, if it isn't my least favorite heroes." Magnus then looks at Crux, and gets a strange look on his face.

"I don't know you..." Magnus says.

"Good. Me... I don't really CARE who you are. Much less why you're doing this. But, you're doing it, and you're causing problems. So, I'm gonna have to take you down." Crux says.

"Well, you must REALLY not know me. I WILL win this day."

"NO." Mister X speaks, "This one is correct." Mister X says, looking at Crux, "Your plan ends HERE, Magnus. NOW." Mister X says.

"Yes, Magnus, time for you to surrender your control over Magneto and the Magnetic Men. Then, surrender YOURSELF."

"NEVER! After all the GRIEF he caused me, this is JUST! THIS IS FAIR! THIS IS THE NEW WORLD ORDER!" Magnus calls out, "HAHAHAHAHAHA!" Magnus laughs meniacally. He then presses a button on his belt, and bright flash goes off from his belt. This blinds Mister X and Doctor Strangefate. But, Crux is unphased, due to the visor. Crux then fires forward, and crashes into Magnus. He then aims himself upwars, spiraling into the air. They punch each other on the way up. Magnus then kicks Crux in the gut, throws him off of himself, then diploys a bubble around himself. This allows him to fly after Crux, who has caught himself in the air. Crux now also flies back at Magnus. They collide in the air, but Crux manages to hit with enough force to shatter the bubble. Magnus falls from the sky. Crux watches Magnus fall, only to be caught by Doctor Strangefate. Magnus then is restrained by magic chains. Mister X flies up and meets Magnus.

"Time to surrender control, Magnus." Mister X then places his hands on Magnus' head. He delves within his mind, trying to find the switch to turn Magnus off. At least, for a little while. But, something repels Mister X. The helmet Magnus wears, it is repelling Mister X's attempts to reach his mind. Suddenly, Mister X is shot out of Magnus' mind with great force.

"AAAGGHH!" Mister X yells as he falls to the ground. He spirals downward, only to hit the ground.

"X!!" The Doctor cries. Then, Magnus presses a button on his belt. This lets him pass through the magical chains. He then jumps up, and brings both hands down on the helmet of Doctor Strangefate.

"AAHH!" The Doctor yells, clutching the helmet. Magnus then jumps upwards, and brings his foot down on the helmet again.

"NNGAAH!" The Doctor cries in pain. He then falls to the ground as well.

"HA!" Magnus yells, "You cannot match me! I am your superior!"

"Arrogant jackass!" Magnus turns, and is met with Crux's fist. Magnus is sent flying sideways. Magnus, then re-forms his bubble, and flies back at Crux. Crux then flies forward at Magnus. They rocket towards each other at top speeds, and meet. Crux launches a fist at Magnus, but is caught. Magnus clutches Crux's fist, and crushes the gauntlet around it. Also, by extension, crushing Crux's only way home.

"NO!" Crux yells. Crux then kicks Magnus in the gut, left hooks Magnus across the head, then cups his hands and slams him to the ground. As Magnus falls, Crux grips Magnus with a construct, and brings him back up.

"DO YOU REALIZE WHAT YOU JUST DID!? YOU JUST STRANDED ME HERE!!" Crux yells. Crux then picks Magnus up over his head, and hurls him to the ground. Magnus flies downwards, and crashes into the ground, through the concrete. Crux then flies directly down at Magnus, putting both fists out in front of him. He breaks the speed of sound, and crashes into Magnus' bubble, shattering it. But, since the bubble interrupted the hit, Magnus feels no pain. But, this alos leaves an unconscience Magnus open. Crux grips the helmet, and rips it off of Magnus' head. He then stands up, helmet in hand, and looks down upon Magnus, lying in the dirt.

"Game over, you greedy, arrogant, bastard." With that, Crux crushes the helmet in his hands.

Betrassus.

"Come men, the Lantern fights alone. We must aid him!"

"No! Stay back, he´s too strong!"

It was too later as Arkillo grabs the head of one of the soldiers and rips it appart. Kell and the others just look in shock.

"Your concern over these worthless sacks of flesh amuses me Kell." Says Arkillo while still grabbing the headless soldier. "You´re a disgrace to our kind. Putting the lives of others above your victory. Pathetic."

The remaing soldiers try to attack Arkillo but are stopped by Kell.

"Take as most people as you can away from here!" He says to the remaining soldiers. "I´ll handle him!"

Kell hurls himself at Arkillo and punchs him so hard it sends him flyind towards a building. But Arkillo quickly recovers and fires back a yellow blast from his ring that only misses Kell by an inch, but in turn causes a building behind him to colapse, sending debris to the ground.

In the middle of the panic that overtoke the local civilians, Kell sees a child laying on the ground about to get hit by one of the falling debris. He manages to pick him up.

"Go, small one. Flee...now!" He warns the child who runs away.

But before he realizes it, he´s hit in the back by Arkillo who capitalizes on his distraction.

"What a disgrace, a warrior like this holding himself? Is it because you´re afraid of what you become?" He asks Kell.

Kell´s reaction to Arkillo´s comment only incited him.

"You and I both know what will happen if you gave in to your instincts. You are not better than me Kell, a killer, you are just ignoring your true nature, hidding behind your Corps!" He grins. "Go on Kell, it´s the only change you got to fight me!" He keeps hitting punching Kell and taunting him.

"Can´t..let him loose. Not here..not know. Too many inocents. I won´t stop..." He thinks to himself.

Kell was right. He knew what would happen if he gave into his instincts. He won´t stop just with Arkillo. Sev, Iolande, the civilians, all of them would be in danger if he unleash his ferocious rage. In Daxos, against Terminax that was not a problem, but here there were too many lives. He would not risk others, even if it costed him his own life.

"I am not a killer like you Arkillo! I...am...a...LANTERN!" He shouts while grabing Arkillo´s fist and slamming Arkillo into the ground.

He jumps into Arkillo and starts punching him. Arkillo deflects the last punch before it hits. He senses the Lantern´s hesitation.

"Like I though. You are afraid" He smiles. And blasts Kell right in the chest.

Kell still manages to rise but he´s clearly hurt from the attack.

"You´re not even worthy of a warrior´s death. You will die here alone."

Before Arkillo can deliver his final blow, he is hit by a green light.

"He´s not alone!" Says a female voice.

Kell looks above and sees Sev and Iolande hovering above.

"You mess with one of us, you mess with ALL of us!"

Space Sector 2814: The Planet Earth: Homebase of the Judgement League Avengers

"Well," Iron Lantern begins, "We freed Magneto and the Magnetic Men from their mind control, they then assisted in dismantling an army of Sentinels, and Will Magnus is now in jail. Not a bad day's work." He says. The entire area around him is battered. It is littered with dirt, rocks, and machine parts. Ambulances blare their sirens and rush by, carrying injured by-standers. Meanwhile, the JLA sees the Metropolis Special Crims Unit load a cuffed Magnus into an armored van, and drive off. Then, Aqua-Mariner, turns and sees something.

"Uh... Super-Soldier?" He says.

"What's up, Mariner?" Super-Soldier asks.

"What's wrong with them?" He asks, pointing over to Crux and Thom.

"Oh yeah..." Super-Soldier says, remembering. The JLA then walk towards Thom and Crux.

"So, I won't get my sloppy joes tomorrow?" Thom asks Crux.

"No, Thom. And, I doubt, ever again." Crux says.

"Oh MAN! This STINKS!" Thom says. Just then, both notice the JLA approaching them.

"Crux, are you OK?" Amazon asks.

"Am I 'ALRIGHT'? Well, I'm stranded here in this dimension with no way of returning me OR my friend home. So, yeah, I'm great." Crux says sarcastically.

"Crux, we can offer you and your friend refuge here, but the tech you're saying you need... it's just not available at this time." Super-Soldier says.

"How long then?" Crux asks, "We're just supposed to wait here while time in my world passes us by? We BOTH have other duties! Obligations! We have LIVES back home!"

"Oh, quit yer whinin'." Dark Claw says.

"I've had just about ENOUGH of you!" Crux says. Then, Super-Soldier steps in between Crux and Dark Claw, trying to defuse the situation before it explodes.

"We realize that you have your own world, Crux." Super-Soldier says, trying to remain calm, "And, if there is anything AT ALL we can do--"

"Find me and Thom a way home. THEN, we'll talk." Crux says, beginning to walk away, with Thom slowly trailing behind. But, just then, a bright ball of light appears in the sky, shining it's light across the ground. It seems to pulsate in rhythm with a beating heart. Then, the light grows closer to the ground. But, it stops. The light then shoots out beams of green light which then bend and contort, forming what seems to be an outline of an alien being. Then, once the outline is complete, the light bursts out of existence, and there stands a filled-in alien being. He is tall, blue, draped in red and white clothes, and wears the insignia of the Green Lantern Corps.

"HALT!" The being calls out to Crux and Thom. They both turn and see the being. Crux is stunned to see the symbol he wears.

"UATU!" Iron Lantern calls out, recognizing the being.

"...no way..." Crux says to himself in disbelief of what he's seeing.

"I am Uatu... the Guardian." The being says.

"The Guardian?" Crux asks.

"Yes, Crux Hesiod." Uatu says.

"...How do you know my name?" Crux asks.

"I know many things, among which that you're home is not this dimension." Uatu says.

"Yeah, that's right." Crux says, "If you know all this... does that mean you know a way to get us home?" Crux asks.

"No." Uatu says. Crux and Thom look dissappointed at these words, "BUT, I know someone who does." Crux and Thom gain a look of re-established hope on their faces. Just then, a green vortex appears before them.

"If you wish to return home, step through the portal." Uatu says. Both Crux and Thom cautiously approach the portal. Thoms enters first. Crux then, walks toward the portal, the remembers something.

"Oh yeah..." Crux says to himself. Crux then turns, and aims his ring at Dark Claw. He forms a Batman construct, has it walk over to Dark Claw, and punch him in the face. The punch knocks Dark Claw out cold, and sends him falling to the floor. The JLA members look at Dark Claw, then at Crux, mouths gaping. Shocked at what Crux just did. All except for Super-Soldier, who laughs, and Amazon, who tries to hide that she's laughing.

"Hot DAMN! I been waiting to do that FOREVER!" Crux says, "Bye, guys!" Crux says to the JLA members. Crux then enters the portal. The portal then disappears into air, along with Uatu.


The Center of the Universe: A Pocket Dimension

Thom, Crux, and Uatu arrive at their destination. They are in a dimesion, much like space, but devoid of any planets or life. They stand on a giant rock, seemingly not moving.

"Follow me." Uatu says. Uatu floats ahead, followed by Crux and Thom. They soon see a large stone temple appear before them. But, inside, they see pitch black darkness. But, once they enter the doorway, they are instantly shot to another pocket dimension within the dimension. They empty out into a small room, caught up in a yellow and pruple vortex. The floor they stand on is covered in black and white tiles. There are no walls, but purple pillars where the four corners of the room are. In fron of them, levitates a being. He emits purple and yellow energy, but is blue and red himself. He sits in a meditation pose. Then, without disturbing his position, he rotates to face the group. Uatu then kneels before the being. Crux and Thom, following Uatu's lead, do the same.

"Rise." The being says. The three heroes rise. and face the being once more.

"I... am Amalgam." The being says, "I am the physical manifestation of this universe."

"Your... this universe?" Crux asks.

"Yes, Crux Hesiod. I hold the power to warp the very space, time, and reality of this universe. I hold the power to give birth, and force death upon those who I see fit." Amalgam says, "I AM the universe." He says.

"So, you're a god. Not an alien, but an ACTUAL god." Crux says.

"Yes."

"Does that mean you can send Thom and I home?" Crux asks.

"Yes." Amalgam says, "You two are from the Blue, the counterpart of the Red. I can grant you passage there."

"The 'Blue'?" Crux asks.

"Within existence, there exist three primary dimensions, and within those exist universes. The Red is called Marvel, and there exist two universe within it. The Blue is called DC, and there exist fifty-two universes with it. We are the third. We are the melding of the two. The Amalgam. We are one. Unification. We exist between the Marvel and the DC. You are from the DC. I can send you there."

"Thank you, Amalgam. Please help us."

"Indeed, Crux Hesiod. Prepare to go home."

"YAY!" Thom shouts, "Sloppy joes!"

"Yeah, Thom. Calm down, though, OK?" Crux asks.

"OK, Green Looney." Thom says.

"Thom, it's Green-- ugh... whatever." Crux says, giving up, "PLEASE, send us home."

"Very well. Thom Kallor, you shall go home first." Just then, a portal opens in front of Thom. Through it, he can see the meeting table of the JSA.

"Thank you!" Thom says. He then walks through the portal, and the portal seals shut behind him.

"Thom has been returned home."

"Thank you." Crux says, "You have NO idea how much I went through to get that guy home. Actually, you probably do." Crux says.

"I know all, Crux Hesiod." Amalgam says, "Now, I shall return you to where you were." Then, a portal opens in front of Crux. It opens into space.

"Thank you." Crux says again. Crux then forms his aura, and flys through the portal, and arrives back where he was.

"Back home AT LAST." Crux says to himself. Just then, Crux gets a call on his ring.

:Crux!:

"Alan?" Crux asks.

:I got a call from Mister Terriffic saying Thom was back! Thank you.:

"No problem, Alan. Anytime." Crux says.

:So, where was he?: Alan asks.

"You don't want to know. SERIOUSLY, you don't." Crux says.

:Oh... well, ok. Thanks anyway.: Alan says.

"No problem, Alan." Then, Crux notices something from his ring.

"Uh, Alan?"

:Yes?:

"It says this call is being made from Oa. What are you doing on Oa?" Crux asks.

:Oh, you'll see. Sooner than you think. The Twelve want to talk to you about the whole 'Mother Box' thing immediately.: Alan says.

"...Oh goody. Nothing like a trial to welcome you home." Crux says, "Tell the Twelve I'm on my way."

:I'll do that.: Alan says.

"Lantern Crux Hesiod- out." Crux says. He ends the call.

"Well... to Oa..." Crux says to himself. He then bursts off towards Oa, not knowing what he faces.

"Whats wrong Tora? Ya've been real quite since we got back from the beach. Sure you didn't hit your head or something?" Guy asks his former girlfriend as the two sit up in their hotel room.

"No...I'm fine Guy." says Tora looking out the window.

"Then whats wrong? I feel like theres a universe between us right now." asks Guy, becoming slightly frustrated.

"Honestly, its your friend, Obvious or whatever..."

"X'ovious..."

"Right. Well, it seems like hes a hunted man/beast/robot thingy, now. If one Hunger Dog is after him, theres bound to be more. You should call him, on your ring, warn him." Tora says.

"The guy doesn't need me breathin' down his back Tora." Guy says as he pours himself a drink.

"Please Guy? For me? I'll make it worth your while." winks Tora.

"Alright alright..." Guy's ring sparks up, and he attempts to open a Ring-Com with X'ovious.

: Access denied. Lantern 2.2s Ring not accepting in-coming transmissions. :

"What the hell...override it dammit!"

: Negative. :

"Tell me where he is, at least."

: Lantern 2.2 is currently entering Sector 3333. :

"Heh, 3333 eh? Home of my good friend." Guy smirks.

Sector 3333 is patrolled by the Green Lantern known as Pen Maricc. Pen is a Mercenary, and no friend of Guy Gardners.

": Pen old buddy, hows it going?:" Guy asks in an obnoxious voice on his Ring-Con.

: Gardner...what do you want? :

": Got a small job for ya Maricc. :"

: HA! Like I'd do something you told me to do. Good luck with that earthman, we'll, hopefully, not talk again soon. :

": Pen! You listen to me, and you listen good! I'm Honor Guard now, I outrank your ass ten to one! Not only that, but I can have you suspended by the Twelve easily, I got friends in there ya know. If that wasn't enough, theres a Lantern entering your system with at least one, probably more, Hunger Dogs on his tail. Find him, intercept him, and warn him of the danger. Its that easy. Hell, those Dogs fetch decent coin on the black market, maybe you can make yourself a few bucks while you're at it. :"

With that Pen closes the Ring-Com, as does Guy.

"Well that was pleasant..." Guy says as he looks over at a half naked Tora.

"Not as pleasant as this, hun..."

Sector 3333


: Warning: Entering Sector 3333 :

X'ovs Ring breaks the silence of the past 4 hours in a sudden flash of noise and green. X'ov had been adrift in thoughts of his past, of the present, but mainly of the future. All signs pointed to the same thing - blackness. In every simulation he ran, in every line of thought he followed, they all led to the same conclusion.

But he puts aside his thoughts for the time being, and engages in a systems check.

"System, status report on assimilation of Power Rod"

<:: Power Rod assimilation at 35%. Vericon Controller programming at 24% synthesis. Power Ring and Mother Box both on standby. ::>

"Good enough. Ring, power levels."

: 98% charge. :

X'ov looks into the distance, and notices a green light speeding toward him. It is clearly another Green Lantern come to meet him, but why, X'ov can only guess.

The man nears, and X'ov is able to distinguish his appearance. He is a humanoid, blond hair and a relatively medium build. Nothing too impressive. Next thing he knows, a giant Green Lantern symbol shoots out of the mans Ring, and comes toward him. X'ov forms his own GL symbol, and the two make contact in space.

"Greetings, Lantern X'ovious." says Pen Maricc as he flies up in front of X'ov. "My name is Pen Maricc, I am the one and only Lantern of this, Sector 3333."

X'ov nods, and extends his hand. "Good to meet you Maricc. I'm just passing through your Sector."

"I have news from...Gardner." says Pen, hardly able to say the mans name. "He said you're being trailed by a Hunger Dog, at least one, possibly two or more. He had me completely skip out of a poker game I was playing to come tell you this. Man, the hands I was getting...I was set to be rich!"

"Maricc, do you honestly think Gardner could tell me something I don't already know?" X'ov says with a grin.

"Heh, touche. Well, seems like you have this all under control, I'll head back to my poker game now." Pen says, about to leave.

X'ovs hand rests on his shoulder, holding him in place.

"Don't you have a Hunger Dog to take care of?" asks X'ov, still smirking.

"What? He's after you, not me. He's your problem." replies Pen.

"I don't think so my friend. A known bounty hunter is in your sector, that makes him your responsibility." X'ov removes his hand from Pens shoulder.

"You gotta be kidding me. My poker game dammit! I can still come out of there with some coin." Pen says, but his argument fails.

"Tell me where the game is, I'll sit in for you." offers X'ov.

"These guys aren't amateurs here pal, these are high rollers." replies Pen.

"Have a little faith will you? Do I look like the kind of person that can't handle himself around a card table?" laughs X'ov.

"Dammit...today isn't my day. Here are the coordinates...try not to lose all my money will you?" Pen says as he ups the location into X'ovs ring. "Good luck..."

"I won't need luck, trust me." X'ov says as the two depart.

The Doubla-Khan Outpost: 3 Hours later.

"Haha! Victory! I win again!" X'ov declares loudly, as he lifts a massive cup of ale to his lips, "You guys are looking pretty lean over there, need a loan? Hahahahahaha!"

X'ov reaches forward with a hand construct, collects the table full of chips, and uses his Ring to stack them up. His pile dwarfs the other 7 players at the table.

"My deal, who's in?" asks X'ov.

Before anyone can answer, the door to the room they are in flies open, and a body is tossed down on the floor. Pen steps into the doorway.

"Alright, who's ready to lose some money!?" he yells, but then looks over at X'ovious and his massive pile of chips. "..."

"Take a seat Maricc." X'ov says as he slides half his stack over to Pen. "Got the dog eh?"

"Yeah, but he was a tough one I tell you. The guy just wouldn't go down! So I had to take it to the next level, you know, really show him who the boss is. Well..."

"Pen, sit down, shut up, and put your chips in." says one of Pens friends at the table.

The 9 players carry on into the night.

Space Sector 0: The Planet Oa

Crux stops in space, above the planet, and looks over Oa. He sees the emerald glow it seems to emit. He smiles.

"Man, rookies must see this, and think to themselves, 'This is gonna be great!'" Crux says to himself, "Poor suckers..." Crux says to himself, grinning. He then flies into Oa, and flys toward the Hall. On his way, he gets a call.

:Lantern Crux.:

"Hey Sal. I'm on my way. Don't worry."

:Very well. We shall meet you in a moment.:

"Alright Sal. See ya there." Crux ends the call. Within minutes, the Hall comes into sight. Crux lands outside, looks around, and walks inside. When he walks he sees a row of chairs, each with a member of the Twelve in a seat. But, in the middle is a new member of the Twelve. Alan Scott.

"Alan!" Crux says.

"Hello, Crux." Alan says, smiling.

"Glad to see you took the offer." Crux says.

"Us as well." John says.

"Well, if all introductions are made, may we move on?" Sal asks.

"Sure, Sal. Let's get it started." John says.

"Very well." Sal says. "Crux, I assume you know why you are here?" Sal asks.

"Yep. I combined my Mother Box tech into my Green Lantern ring."

"Exactly. We cannot have these kind of issues happening within the Corps."

"Why? Ever since X'ov and I added our Mother Boxes to our rings, our success has doubled as Lanterns." Crux reasons.

"It ain't that, poozer. It's the principle of the thing." Kilowog begins, "We just can't have Lanterns goin' behind our backs doin' stuff to their equipment. It just ain't fair to the Corps, or to us."

"I understand that Kilowog, but it was just an experiment. What harm has it done?"

"It hasn't done any harm, Crux. But, Green Lanterns are given rings, and only rings. If they see other Lanterns with other tech, it could send a message that these Lanterns need a crutch to make the ring work. If they don't see that, then they see a militant Corps upgrading it's weapons into some kind of advanced war machines." John says, "It sends a message, Crux. And, whatever that message is, it ain't good."

"I understand, John." Crux says.

"Now, we're going to tell you the same thing we told X'ovious. Your tech will not be confiscated, but, from this point out, we'll be keeping an eye on you. Monitoring you on and off duty for any other actions that go against the Book of Oa. Your case file will be assigned to a specific Twelve member to handle from here on out. You have been assigned to Torquemada." Salakk says. Crux looks over at the hooded Twelve member, "Any questions?"

"Yeah... anything else you'd like to probe me about?" Crux asks, frustrated.

"Actually, yes."

"Ugh... great... what?" Crux asks, not intending another question.

"You fell off of our radar for some time, Crux. What was that about? Another 'experiment'?" Sal asks.

"No Sal. I had to help find a friend of mine who disappeared." Crux says.

"Oh, yes? Where did he disappear to?" Sal asks.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" Crux says. Sal looks a bit surprised to hear this, "Must feel good to finally be able to keep me on a leash, eh, Sal?" Crux says, a little angry. He and Sal stare each other down for a moment, but, then, Crux turns and walks out of the Hall.

"Torquemada..."

"Yeah, Sal?" Torquemada asks.

"I want you to keep an extra close eye on that one. He's a bit rebellious."

"OK, Sal. I will." Torquemada agrees.

"OK," Alan says, "I am not a member of the Twelve. I am a monitor. And overseer. I will intervene only when necessary. And I hold the power to veto your decisions if I see fit. Agreed?" Alan asks the group. Nobody says anything, "Very well."

"Ugh..." Crux groans after his meeting. He flys out of Oa and into space. He stops over the planet.

"Better try and contact X'ov..." Crux says, "Ring. Contact Lantern X'ovious Zatharos." Crux orders.

:Attepmting to contact Lantern Zatharos... Unable to process request.:

"What?" Crux says, a little surprised, "Why not?"

:Contact cannot be made due to unknown reasons at this time.:

"Hm... that's weird..." Crux says to himself, "Can you at least get me a location on him?"

:Scanning for Lantern Zatharos... Location found.:

"Where is he?"

:Lantern Zatharos is presently located within Space Sector 3333.:

"Heh... OK. Monitor Lantern Zatharos and alert at any change in status." Crux says.

:Request enabled.: The ring responds.

"Good." Crux then looks down at his left wrist. His broken gauntlet is still wrapped around it.

"Guess I'll fix this up." Crux says, "Mother Box. Boom tube." Crux says, aiming his ring into space. Just then, the Mother Box opens a portal with a thunderous clap.

BOOM!

The portal swirls with energy. Crux then flys inside the portal, and it seals behind him. Evaporating into space.

Space sector 1417: Betrassus.

"Oh, it´s your partners Kell. Good, more Lanterns for the slaughter."

He then looks at Severance. For a moment he thinks he sees Lyssa Drak in a Green Lantern uniform. Then it hits him. It was her...

He starts laughing.

"Well, well." He says. "The famous
Severance Drakk...You´re very well known across our ranks. Tell me Severance, did Lyssa died screaming?"

Severance closes her fists. She feels extreme anger, but she knows Arkillo is tauting her, just to provoke her into a mindless attack. Sev knows best. If she goes head to head alone with him, she will die. Against a foe who is physically stronger, they need to work together, they need a strategy.

"Iolande, listen to me. We need to attack him all together. This is not a random sinner we´re dealing with. This guy went toe to toe with Senior Lantern Kilowog!"

"Understood Sev!" Replies Iolande.

"I just flatten your partner, you two think you stand a chance against me?!" Replies Arkillo.

"I believe we do." Replies Iolande.

She then reminds herself of a report she had introduced on the data log. It was about how some Lanterns had subdued the much stronger Kilowog.

"Sev, I have an idea. we need to contain him. Make him immobile. Natu saw other Lantern doing this to Kilowog on Mogo. It might work on him too!"

Sev nods in agreement. She proceeds to form a claw like construct around Arkillo´s left arm. Iolande imitates her and forms another around his right arm.

"Grh...Unhand me you mongrels!" Arkillo tries his best to break the constructs, but they are too strong even for someone with his philology.

"You always had faith in your strength Arkillo, but forgot one thing. We Lanterns NEVER fight alone!"

Kell manages to gain momentum and punches Arkillo again, knocking him to the ground. The constructs holding Arkillo wear off and Kell prepares to deliver his final blow.

Suddenly, another flash of yellow light appears. Sev, Kell and Iolande are attacked by what it look like animal like constructs. Arkillo turns to see Karu-Sil standing next to him.

"Karu-Sil?"

"Quick, while Fathers-3 keep them busy."

"I´m not running away..."


"Stop being a thick minded idiot and let´s go! We are outnumbered in case you haven´t noticed. And Fathers-3 are hungry."

"Unhand me, you mutt." Says Iolande.

They manage to fight off the constructs, but when they do, both Karu-Sil and Arkillo are already running away.

"Sev, they are running away!"

"Leave them. We have people to help here." Says Sev, while looking to the war zone behind them.

Sev goes next to Kell, who is looking at the skies.

"I failed you all. I could not defeat him..."


"Nonsense Kell, you did what a Lantern must do, protect the innocent. You haven´t fail me." A woman carrying the same child who Kell had just saved approaches the large Lantern and gives him a small necklace, putting it on Kell´s finger.

"Thank you."Says the small child.

"And you haven´t fail them." Says Sev.

18 hours later


"Kell, you´re still pretty messed up. You should go to Oa and take of those wounds."

"And you Sev?"

"I´m going home. I have one thing to do." She turns to Iolande. "I feel weird asking you this, but can you come with me? I don´t want to be alone in front of her. Think you can keep me company? We won´t take long."

Iolande nodded in agreement, since she knew where Sev was going to. Going to her sister´s grave.


"See you soon Kell. We need to inform Salaak of our encounter with these two. meet you up in Oa."

"Will do Sev. Take care."

"You too."

And the three parted ways temporally.
