OK, I was watching the Star Trek II "Wrath of Khan" on IFC and a story idea came to mind and I thought I would ask a few questions of you folks because y'all have a way of ( how shall we say it?) red lining a storyline.
OK, now in the the sequel, they claim the Genesis project doesn't work because the Genesis planet self-destructed. It was to unstable due to the use of proto-matter in it's matrix.
Now, here's my observation and my story idea.
in Wrath of Khan, all experiments leading up to it's final stage worked perfectly. The genesis cave for example was very stable. And the scientist who created it claimed that it was meant to be introduced to a dead world. Spock said that Genesis meant "Life from Lifelessness" However, when it was detonated. it wasn't introduced to a dead world..it wasn't even close to a world. so it made one as best it's programing would allow. But it wasn't suppose to create something from nothing. It needed a planet's stability to work correctly.
Now. in my store. some deranged scientist realizes this and sets out to re-create the Genesis project and sell it to the highest bidder. and it's up to a small team of Star Fleet security to stop them.
Now keep in mind that Trekkers are very specific about their universe. and this takes place in the old time line soon after the Cardassin war.
So, does this storyline fly with y'all?
