Quote:
Sims is working on more alien and suit designs for the forthcoming Green Lantern movie, based on the DC Comics superhero. "We're starting from the ground up on this one, and we're trying to be as contemporary as possible," he says. Sims would not confirm which aliens he is designing, but those familiar with the comic book know that Earth's Green Lantern is just one of an intergalactic corps of heroes who each possess a power ring to fight evil on their home worlds and in outer space. "The suits for the aliens are all different," Sims says, "but they're all green. They're overwhelmingly green. Defining the uniform green -- the proper shade -- is part of the process."

Sims is already familiar with designing green heroes. "On The Incredible Hulk, we looked at all different shades of green," he says. "We even looked at gray. I think we did over 100 different Hulk designs to provide options."

I always thought the costumes were primarily black....Maybe I'm color blind.

Well Hal's uniform always had more green than black to it.

That's the least of my concerns.

I just hope they do find a happy medium in between pleasing us GL geeks and putting out a solid movie that will entertain and grab the masses.

They just need to use Iron Man as a template (i.e. root it in real world)

Speaking of Iron Man, I know its Marvel, and so such a thing would've been stupid to do, but I thought it would've been cool and funny if one of the pilots from Edwards AFB in the scene where they're chasing him had been referred to as "Highball."

I'm interested in seeing what TPTB do with costumes and alien adaptions. I think a good base to go from would be the MK Hal suit, John's suit, or Kyle's Jim Lee suit. Too much green could easily kill the costume, same goes for too much black. But then again I'll give anything that's not a complete remake a chance. But for Hal's sake sticking close to the classic would be a safe choice.

Count on it. Pretty close to it, anyway. I just hope they also do the EVS GL floaty symbol thing... make the costume alive and constantly glowing a bit. GL on screen should just radiate power.

I agree with Andrew, keep it as close to real world as you can. That's what was good about the first Matrix and Iron Man. The first time you leave that you lose your general movie going audience. With Iron Man they made it cool to be Tony Stark, if they do the same thing with Hal being the top gun pilot and play on the patriotism of the Air Force for the US audience, especially if WB has it come out on the 4th of July weekend it will do better in theaters.

And I have to agree with Lanternut on this, but the only downside is that it'll need to appeal to people in other countries too.

I dont care what form the movie takes, who stars, what the plot is-I ask only that Katma Tui is in a prominant role and alive for any and all sequels.

That's my major concern too seriously energy constructs that shouldnt look holographic would be hard to do (could they make those real-looking and happen?)

Have you seen any movie's in the last 10-15 years? Of course they can do it and make it look real. The question is, will what they make do the comics and the characters justice?

Based on the script I read, I'm pretty sure that Katma won't be in the first one, probably even the first two.
[Spoiler]
In the movie script, Sinestro is still one of the Green Lanterns and works with Hal. They are setting things up so he becomes rogue in a potential part two or even three. So unless the movie continuity introduces multiple lanterns per sector (to shine some spotlight on John, Kyle or Guy), don't expect to see Katma before Sinestro leaves the Corps.
