^They have not yet given the origin (just some more clues like it has auto-defense) of the gauntlet but Iím 95% sure they said it is not Kronaís.

[QUOTE=Star-Lantern;977012]I stopped really reading this series a while ago, but there is a development I keep hearing about that I'm curious about.

Can someone shed some light on why Teen Lantern's gauntlet is NOT Krona's gauntlet? Did someone run into a creative snag somehow and had to BS their way out of it by saying the weapon isn't Krona's gauntlet?[QUOTE=Star-Lantern;977012]

lorl was a previously unknown GL, and that was his only appearance. I'm not sure what plans Bendis had for the backstory of that character, if any, but it doesn't seem like he planned to delve back into GL history to Krona's gauntlet. It definitely didn't look like Krona's gauntlet, and it stands to reason that since Hal had such problems controlling it, neither an average GL or an 11-year-old would have had any chance at controlling it. So why did Bendis use a new gauntlet with no previous history? That's anyone's guess at this point.

Yeah if I remember correctly the gauntlet has been addressed twice so far in this run where a character has stated despite the similarities, 11 year old girl's gauntlet is NOT the same one as Krona's. Mentioned like, 'put a pin in it because we will eventually return to this mystery' type of deal.

And I am groaning at the thought of John going down the obligatory omnipotent godlike persona route. I know everybody has to do it at least twice, but...come ON. It's such an endgame gimmick that obviously cant last or REALLY be fulfilled, so making a hero a godlike being just becomes this embarrassing blip on the radar of a character's history. One that readers look back at, cringe, roll their eyes and pretend didnt happen. I'd rather avoid it if we could.

I think it's Thorne's job to write the backstory there. Unless she's had some appearances that I don't know about, there was very little said about the gauntlet's past. Thorne has also said that she's a liar (multiple times), so that might mean that her story about getting the gauntlet could change.

Krona's Gauntlet - I have recently (this calendar year) found out that DC writers only get royalties for creating NEW characters. Oh sure, they get a paycheck while they are writing/drawing an already-established comic book line, but like contractors, they either have to have 3+ jobs at once to pay the bills, and/or they are always looking for the next contract. But they get life-forever royalties for making a new character that sticks around in the comic book line. That's how "moneyball" ruined American baseball. That's how "fantasy leagues" ruined American football. What do you think is going to happen when a writer is told or learns this truth?

"Something" - we've seen the "easy way out" in both the two-issue preview last year and the catastrophe this year in GL#2. Geoff Thorne blew up the Central Power Battery, essentially stranding every GL powerless in deep space. So, he's out for the "butcher method" of killing off 98% of the cast during this 12-issue plot. We've seen how quickly the local toughs in every known star system have reacted to finding powerless GLs. And the United Planets can't help to accelerate the loss of the GLC with their own establishment's rising star in authority and power. Having the magical assassination and saboteur squad in issue #1 should have been a hint.

I realize that you may be exaggerating to make your point, but the death toll is nowhere near 98%. There's a significant number of GLs who survived, and quite a few surviving supporting cast members like Peya Fel and the Thanagarians . The GotU are still "entangled", which I'm guessing means that at least some of them will return, especially since John is now manifesting his old Mosaic powers.
