Day 14: A book you didn’t expect to like but did

Day 1: What is your favorite kind of book to read?

At the moment, my favorite kind of book to read is Young Adult. Admittedly, not all Young Adult books are good, but some of my favorite book are Young Adult. They tend to deal with Issues that some other books tend not to, and I can identify with the things that some Young Adult books put across.

And just because Young Adult is my current favorite, doesn't mean that they are all that I read. I read all sorts of stuff. Science books(Brian Green, Brian Cox), Thriller, Horror, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Poems (mainly Epic Poems), Short stories, Anthology stuff (I love the Mammoth Book Of series.), Erotic Fiction(which I've been reading for almost 6 years), Post-Apocalyptic, Time Travel and more. I don't read stuff based off of reviews or my personal preference(unless it a series or Author I am pretty invested in). I (at least sometimes) read the blurb inside a book when I'm in a bookstore (I spend quite some time in them), and If I like it (regardless of whether I like the genre or not), I will buy it. That's the exact reason I bought the Hardcover Edition of Stephen King's 11/22/63 last year for £1(about $1.51).

Day 1: What is your favorite kind of book to read?

I read a lot of what is called "classic" literature. I was an English major and have always had a deep appreciation for books that have earned a reputation and cultural place.

That said, "classic" isn't really a type of book (you can't specifically choose to write a classic). I probably most like to read Science Fiction. I also like Victorian literature (esp. Dickens) a lot.

                Day 2--Favorite biography

I've read a fair amount and liked several. I remember when I was about ten really digging a biography on puritan John Bunyan, but it was a young reader book and I probably wouldn't be impressed as much now. More recently, I'd have to pick Marine Sniper by Charles Henderson, recounting the life of legendary Vietnam sniper Carlos Hathcock.

                      That is a great one.

I really enjoyed this one lately.

I'm changing my answer to this, I was thinking of Harry Potter, Eragon etc when I was answered but I thought it was too narrow

This is part of the reason why I went for Young Adult, Instead of Fantasy. I'm changing my answer to Teen Hero, too. While I do really love YA books, most of the ones I have ended up reading have been Teen Hero anyway.

Besides Harry Potter, that's not really my thing, but my mother (who is 60) loves that stuff. If I ask her what she wants for Christmas/Mother's Day/Birthday, I invariably end up in "Teen Fiction" at Barnes and Noble, usually looking for some new sci-fi or dystopian novel or trilogy.

When I was reading Marine Sniper I was telling people about different parts and I remember my aunt saying, "but you're talking about a novel, right?" Nope, that's a real-life Marine. It feels like a movie script at some parts, but he really did it (his spotter was there to witness much of it).

I've heard about that. Just added it to the ol Amazon Wish List.

Unbroken is a much better book than movie.
