Even if it goes to court, he'll plead and get probation.

Police Won't File Charges Against Texas Judge Caught on Video Beating Daughter

William Adams, 51, issued a three-page statement Thursday saying his daughter posted the clip to get back at him for telling her he would be reducing the amount of financial support he gives her and taking away her Mercedes. The statement did not include an apology for the beating, but he told Corpus Christi television station KZTV on Wednesday that the video "looks worse than it is," that he had already apologized to his daughter and that he was just disciplining his child for stealing.

Hillary Adams says her parents were angry because she had downloaded pirated content online, and that she turned on the camera because she sensed something was going to happen.
my take: I thought a beating was a bit much punishment-wise for wat was done, for a 16yo. to be clear: I used to get beatings from my dad for various things, but most of that stopped when I got to about 13-14yo, I got bigger & he realized that he needed to change tactics since I could now "tank" the beatings..........(heh!) I personally dont subscribe to that school of thought on discipline, BUT I also realize that sometimes ya just feel that ya might need to put a belt to an ass when all else fails.

THAT BEING SAID, I personally think the judge went too far, both on his reaction to her having d/l'd music she didnt pay for (granted, hes a fed judge.........but this man was likely thinking how it would affect *his own* skin), and then again when he left room to get another belt. yea, thats when the mom shoulda stepped in reigned him back, cuz he was too fucking hot to be doing any discipline at that point. and if theres any truth to him being violent due to some kind of "addiction" as the ex-wife claims, then maybe thats why we're seeing wat happened here........

and since Im in a judgemental mode atm, Id call (if true) the daughters posting of the clip, cuz "daddy cut back on her cash & took away her Mercedes", a pretty cunt-tastic thing to do, as well as fucking HILARIOUS since it looks like he cant be charged w/anything due to statute of limitations.......and she STILL aint getting the money!! dumbass.

He has an ex-wife? Wow...that's shocking. In a way that totally isn't.
If you'd get arrested for doing this to another adult, it should be illegal to do to your children. And the simple fact that he wrote three pages about how it was justified makes me weep for our justice system even more than I already do.

It is illegal to do it that severe.

But 8 years later when the daughter decides to post it to youtube rather than speak to authorities there really aint jack shit that can or will be done.

And if he is being truthful that it was done out of spite then the womans priorities may be just as skewed.

"Let me try to blackmail my own dad so I can eep my pretty car that he bought me"

You'll have to pardon me, but the credibility of a man who I just watched beat his child with a belt is a little on the suspect side.

not saying he isnt/didnt, but why would he have to lie about it?

Conversely...why would he have to tell the truth? He's not under oath, and he knows the statue of limitations has expired. He knows he's untouchable, and this is the perfect excuse for him to stop giving his daughter money.

The only thing she's to blame for is attempting to take down a level boss that outstat'd her.

He's to blame for beating his children.

And his wife is to blame for not standing up for the children in the house.

About the only hope from this is that any attorney's going into his courtroom will file for motions for another judge to preside their cases.

She's 23 and unless she is completely incapable of providing for her own then why should he really be giving her money to begin with?

and possibly a roundabout case of extortion, if it's true.

                        That's not in dispute.

We do know he has an ex wife, but do we know if they were indeed married at the time? (I may have missed it if they were.)

Without just cause that motion can get denied, If every judge was transferred because they "spanked" their kids there would be no judges to preside over anything.

And I know I'm using the term spanked very loosely.

Man I guess that guy didn't see a consuelor about his supposed probelm. Of course no one should beat up anyone, no matter what! (unless of course that is an act of defense). But the way he acts is so old fashioned, doesn't he realize that beating people with a belt is pretty much a thing of the past.

it wouldnt be an excuse, cuz he'd already done it, which is supposedly why SHE posted the clip.

but that still doesnt explain why he would have to lie about his actions in that regards.

as was stated in the FNN-article, which is as it should be really.
