The United Nations outlined that agricultural yields need to increase by 50 percent by 2050. Scientists have been developing new techniques to speed up process of photosynthesis and increase the yield to cater increasing demand.

Hmm. Gotta be careful on what scale you start speeding up photosynthesis. Presumably that could change the balance of gasses in the atmosphere (at least locally), if sped up enough and done on a large enough scale.
