The great Italian filmmaker Giuliano Carnimeo had died at the age of 84. Carnimeo was one of the key figures in the emergence of the spaghetti western genre as an international magnet, directing several entries in the 'Sartana' series which was inaugurated by his friend Gianfranco Parolini and starred Gianni Garko (who along with George Hilton became one of Carnimeo's regular leading men).
