The "next" age? We will always be in the "Modern Age" of comics. We just have to reclassify passing decades.

Well, in Morrison's Marvel Boy, which came out in 2000, it made the statement that comics are cyclical, and that comics today are very similar to the golden age.

But that was nine years ago. Are we in the New Silver Age now?

How about the aluminum can age? Shiny and pretty on the outside but lacking substance and hollow on the inside.

                          Hi there:

Personally, I think the "Bronze age" should stop when Image was formed and became popular and gave birth to the "Anti-Hero Age" which I think ended with the first Spider-Man movie.

I also think that from Spider-Man on...it could be considered the "Cinematic Age" of Comic Books...where many properties became movies - good or ill - and just as cinema has de-evolved into indy movies, I am seeing the movie of the industry to switch to a huge portion of indy creators.

hehe. But to be serious, Andrew was correct; all ages will be reclassified. Whenever the current age is, will always be the modern age. Then each 'metal' will get expanded. Sort of like Star Trek: in the 2400's, they refer to the 1800's as "Ancient Earth". Of course, it's not ancient to us - but I can see how it would be to earthings that far into the future. Someday, this currently running modern age will be grouped in with the original golden age, eventually. Better start re-boarding all your comics to golden-age boards now, so your decendants can reap cash from your collection that you will never see... the little bastards better appreciate it, haha.

                              Mid-30s to Mid-50s: Golden Age.
                              Mid-50s to Mid-70s: Silver Age.
                              Mid-70s to Mid-90s: Dark Age.
                              Since then: The Retro Age.
And by now I can't wait for it to be over.

Golden Age - 1930 - 1950 (We also had the Atomic age here, but i won't go into that in detail)
                                Silver Age - 1950 - 1975
                                Bronze Age - 1975 - 1985
                                Crisis Era - 1985 - 2005
                                Retcon Era 2005 - current

That's how i use the timeline and how we have it labled on the wall in our LCS
