New to the Corps

Hello!
I have been a comic fan for many years, though lately I only have the time to pick up the latest graphic novels for Batman.
I have to admit, I never read much GL unless his character was involved in a cross-over.
However, thanks to Mortal Kombat v.s DC, and the promise of a GL movie in the works, my interest in all things GL have been sparked and I find myself wanting to back-track to the comics and catch up on all that I have missed.
And there lies the challenge...where do I start??
I don't have time for monthly comics, and would rather pick up the collected stories in thier graphic novel form.
I want to enjoy the eventual Green Lantern movie the way any die-hard GL fan would, so I need to know everything (without having to read 60 years worth of comics)
Can someone please list for me - in order of continuity, all the major story arcs that are available in graphic novel form so I can get myself up to speed....

First GL book

Thanks for the welcome - I stopped by my local comic store and picked up the TP of 'Rebirth' (the manager also recommended this to start with along with Emerald Dawn)
I will just take it one book at a time, I just want to keep things in chronological order and within canon (not trying to get into mini-series that skew from the main continuity)
