Agreed, none of the added scenes change the overall tone or fell of the movie. And I don't think it really helped the movie either. I mean, no one is missing anything if they didn't watch the extended cut.

All the Joker & Harley additions should have been saved for a "Mad Love" film.

Really, I don't think Suicide Squad needed the "origin story" flashbacks for the characters. Rogue One, Dirty Dozen, Oceans 11 and others in the like really didn't spend, if any, on the origin story of the characters. Spend the screen time on the mission and how each character uniquely contribute to the mission.

All that being said, I found Suicide Squad a fun popcorn film.

    • ^Yeah, I think I agree with that whole statement (including liking it as a popcorn flick). It jumps around too much. What you needed to know could've been covered with Wallis' debrief of their powers and maybe the scenes of how Deadshot and Harley were caught. None of the background stuff is really bad in and of itself. It just makes for a disjointed movie.

BTW: (looking at BDD here) I noticed this last viewing that the besieged federal building is named after Ostrander.

      • How the heck is Scott Pilgrim so low on your list Primus?

        • It's just wasn't my cup of tea. I think I'm too old to enjoy the video game effects of the movie. And I didn't read the source material, so I wasn't a fan going into the movie.

My list was compiled with sentimental value, rewatch ability, how many times I did rewatch the movie and enjoyment value; not necessarily overall quality of the film.

I do the same when thinking of favorites in any genre. For instance, I love Plan 9 from Outer Space and the original Friday the 13th. And my favorite movie of all time is Highlander. I have no delusions that these are the best movies ever, but I've watched each dozens of times and consider comfort viewing.

Speaking of which, on reconsideration, I think I want to boost the Donner Superman movies over X2.

            • Poor Green Lantern... Whenever a new comic movie gets released, GL gets pushed further and further down everyone's lists. GL's only reprieve will be when the Justice League movie comes out as it looks like a complete mess. I hope I'm wrong, though.

                • I'm surprised to see Justice League so far up your list given your expressed disappointment.

                  • Despite my disappoint of Justice League, my ranking doesn't necessary reflect my in opinion on the quality of the film but rather the rewatchability of it. So, in comparison to the other films below on my list, it comes down to watch would I prefer to watch on a lazy day afternoon. Moreover, I like dissecting films I don't like.

Justice League has some great and fun character moments, but the overall story and middle to third act take a nose drive as it really doesn't build to a climax or even had a plot twist or revelation offered to the audience or characters. In short, the plot of the film was very simplistic.
