See how I said Flop in every sense that matters to Hollywood? The movie had terrible ROI, the merchandising failed and it was panned by critics. If it had at least one of those things going for it, it might have a chance of getting a sequel, but it didn't. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it for what it was, but I'm still very much pissed for what it was missing. It could have been a better movie but they just missed it. IMO Geoff Johns was at the center of all things wrong with it and he is personally the reason I'm not reading any DC books right now.

              • I was really disappointed in the merchandising for the movie. It seemed so lackluster. I don't know if that was the studio being hesitant, or potential licensees refusing to be sold on the idea, but everything seemed like the cheap, bargain-basement, version of licensing.

They had SUBWAY as the fast-food tie-in. OK, not exactly the highest profile brand, but there are a lot of them. But what did they produce? BAGS. GL BAGS.

The figs were just OK (though I wish they had tossed some comic-version ones in there), but everything else was really weak. I mean, we got no boardgame tie-ins with REAL, KNOWN brands, just checkers, a Trouble-KNOCKOFF, and other cheesy, generic games that I never even saw on store shelves.

We didn't even get a freakin' GL Mr. Potato Head. (Not that I wanted one, but it would have at least been a REAL BRAND tie-in, not cheesy generic stuff.)

There were a couple T-shirts, I guess. I dunno, it just seemed like, even before the movie came out to less than rave reviews, it was already presenting a low budget image through the merchandising.

Woah hold your horses, Geoff Johns was only a creative consulant and co-producer. That doesn't mean anything in the final product. A creative consultant can talk to the screenwriter but it doesn't mean shit, because in the long run it's the studio that decides what goes in and out. Besides this is nothing like Johns secret origins (heck Parallax is nothing at all Johns version).

well if one fictitious character has the potential of making a comeback from "dead and gone" than it is our friend Hal Jordan ,
(doesn´t have to take that long this time)

There is a germany magazin which is specialized on fx, digitialproduction:

In the last issue they had an article about Green Lantern Movie, where there wrote that the movie had at least one winner, the fx company Pixomondo who did the scene where Parallax escaped and the aftercredit scene.
( I think Sinestro gl suit looks a bit more solid than in other scenes)

Pixomondo impressed the fx scene with there work the article concludes. so at least one good thing about this movie.

the movie masters line i enjoyed alot. but the 3 inch line was just a rip off for the price they were charging with lack of articulation

                          • If johns wasnt attached then the big bad would have probably still been legion, not parralax.

Though I thought that even when it was called Legion, it sounded more like Parallax anyway...
