GL fans hate-n on a GL

There's so much hate-n going on about John Stewart being the GL for the JLoA movie.Why?He is or is he not a GL?No he's not the first one or even the best of the GL's,but he's still a GL and he's one of the best GL's.The way I see it, it wouldnt matter who they put in the movie to be GL,there's always someone that would bitch about their favorite GL not being in the movie.If it was Hal or Guy or Kyle,I wouldnt care.I would just be happy a GL was even in the movie.Maybe John's there so there could be a black face for black people to see so what why hate on him for that?Anyway Hal will be the Lantern that will be representing the GL's when the GL movie comes out.That to me is better than John having to share a starring role with the other JLA members,and he probably won't even play a hugh roll in the outcome of the movie anyway.So get a grip GL fans it gonna be alright.... don't hate me.

I assume thats me your talking about, and I want to correct you. I don't hate John, but I don't like him either the reasons .... John has never had a distict personality I really enjoyed Mosaic because he was kept consitent through out the 18 issues but since then he has been so many differant things that I can't like him because I don't know him

Nobody hates I just don't really know him like I know Kyle or Guy this is the fault of writers not the character

and I have said over and over again if Hal is getting the solo flick then I have no problem with John in the JL movie

My problems with John in the JLA movie stem from the fact that Hal was a founding member of the League. I don't mind him in the JLA comic... I don't particularly care for John, but I'm not exactly a hater. I may come of blunt, but so do others. I think a lot of what you see as anti-John vibe isn't what you think it is, but rather its very blunt pro-other GL, or even pro comic canon. That is my problem with John in the JLA film... no more, no less.

I don't particularly care for John, but I'm not exactly a hater. I may come of blunt, but so do others. That is my problem with John in the JLA film... no more, no less.

I dunno... to be honest... I think most of the mods have expressed a blunt distaste for the decision... and I know at least us two have expressed blunt opinions about the character of John Stewart that could be construed as hate... the fact is that niether of us hate him, though, so we might as well let them know such, since its obviously somewhat of an issue.

Actually, based on everything I've read about the movie and the script, it all sounds pretty scary. I mean scary like a Catwoman or Elektra level movie flop. The ONLY cool bit thus far is the casting for John, I think that could work.

I'm far more worried about whether the movie works than which GL shows up.

Since Hal was an original founder, I can see why some folks grip about it -- that maybe John could show up later in the film or later in a follow-up movie. That aside, comic book continuity isn't my biggest concern on this project.

I just hope it is good, and whoever the ring bearer is, gets a decent role.

Either way, to please everyone, why don't they just have Hal as part of the original JLA, but be captured/otherwise out of service, and have John fill his role/save him. It would please continuity plus have John has the main GL.

First of all, there are four moderators and an admin... some of us do present blunt opinions about John, but I don't think any of us hate him. Hell, the closest thing to hate I've posted is in reference to where Hal Jordan is now... seriously.

Second of all, our reasons for not wanting him in this movie haven't much to do with John himself, it has more to do with the JLA. Hal Jordan, Barry Allen, Arthur Curry. Diana Prince, J'onn Johns... they are the founding members. I bitched about Superman and Batman being in the film long before it I found out that John was the GL, so obviously I have more of a problem with the film than just John Stewart being the GL in it, but that sure as hell isn't something I will support.

Finally, Everyone here has different opinions about other things, we, as moderators, do not attack characters or people on the board... we do however present opinions like everyone else. My opinions about John are blunt, and admittedly often come of as hate, but its not anywhere near hate for the character, but rather its closer to hate for what has been done with him outside of the comics.

I would be fine if they established in the film that the JLA was formed years and years before the film, that way I could forgive both John and Wally being in it, not to mention Superman and Batman... which, at the moment, is all the reason for my bitching about this film, since everything I've heard or read about it seems to indicate that the JLA will be formed during the film... and that is just flat out wrong... literally.
