I love it. Simply love it. And as amazing as that would be, sadly it never will.

As much as people disliked Hal as Parallax (and not some stupid space bug thingy causing it to happen), I always thought it was a great fit for the character. The guy goes from being a hot-shot GL and test pilot to being a seasoned vet of the GLC and a drifter on earth, only to have some maniac destroy his home and his emotionless "bosses" do nothing to help. So he snapped. Regardless of how it was done, it always made sense to me. Like a polished diamond tainted and turned dark, but still a diamond underneath. Parallax was one of the best creations to come out of the 90's, on par with Hank Henshaw the Cyborg Superman. Both were born of tragedy, and both had agendas that were fitting of their circumstances.

And now...I want to play FFYII again

As for what job Hal should have? I want him to just be a regular GL of sector 2814 and not the leader of the corps. And to me, Hal should always be a pilot whether it be him in the air force or just being a test pilot as Ferris Air. The only other job I could see him having is being a firefighter. Can't think of any superheroes with that job.

Thanks! My vision is that he'd have a long sword made of light and use that as his main weapon. Of course, he'd be able to do other things, but that would just be his trusty thing, kinda' like how Sephiroth uses his massive sword.

And like Green Lantern from Kingdom Come:
          http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_gE41hIMORG...ngdom_Come.jpg

He'd have a cold disposition like Sephiroth, and he'd wander the stars alone, putting in place some nefarious purpose toward becoming more of a God, rewriting the universe, or some such. For those familiar with FF7, I kind of like the idea of how the heroes follow Sephiroth around and try to figure out what he's doing.

There would definitely still be some of his old self in there, and he would at times wrestle with himself. For small, rare, faint moments he'd wonder about what it is he's doing. This particular image of Darth Vader is the sort of sentiment I'm going for:
          http://img.desmotivaciones.es/201211...s_de_Vader.jpg

Of course, he'd find ways to rationalize his actions, and when you're so far gone... it's like... how do you go back? I know a lot of people hate the idea of Hal Jordan as Parallax, but I see so much potential there for him to be one of the deepest characters and most compelling villains in the DCU, or at least way up there on the list.

But he must've. He was very committed to the federation and there's no way in even classic Trek he got to command a starship without an oath of allegiance. In the TOS episode "Court Martial" he showed that he was willing to submit to their authority even as he knew he was innocent.

I think all of that sounds really cool. My only problem is it has been done. That is the problem with basing characters off of other characters. The world needs new characters,Parallax needs to be his own thing. I think it would have been great if they would have done during the early Kyle days, It just seems like a long way to go for Parallax. a Character that has a mild at best following as opposed to Hal/Green Lantern, not to forget all the time and effort into bringing him back to his former self.

Who takes over the flagship book? Kyle again, well they got rid of Kyle for a reason. Guy, Well his solo book did not do to well. John? He has a shot, but over Hal? Not if you want to make Green Lantern a Big brand like Batman, you need the classic to be the Face. So who then? Baz? Dear god in heaven NOOOOO! lol

That leaves Alan, and Creating a new GL probably from Earth and do we really need that?

I think they are good ideas, but I don't think it would be in the best intrest of the Brand Green Lantern.

Parallax was cooler than Sinestro, he was Sinestro with a reason to be the way he was besides arrogance, since the multiverse is back why not have Parallax, minus the bug come to our universe and become Hal's ultimate foe. A seasoned Hal vs his younger counterpart. He would be Hal's ultimate foe, his Maestro to the Hulk. The New 52 could use a new big bag and Par(Hal)lax would be the perfect fit. That way we still have GL Hal but also the greatness that was the fallen version. A cautionary tale, plus Parralax wouldn't want to destroy Hal but make him 'better' like Zoom did Flash, his weakness being nostalgia for the good old happier days, allowing Hal to trip him up from time to time until Hal is able to straight out beat him, makes for an awesome character arc.

My biggest gripe with Hal is he comes off as a colossal douche. In addition, he lacks confidence and competence, which is the antithesis of his Silver Age counterpart. That Jordan commanded respect, but this current version is void of all the qualities that attracted me to the character; this guy can't seem to do anything right... and he's not even cool anymore.

The Silver Age Hal was also a terrible racist and sexist. And even more of a colossal douche. So we can pass on that, thanks.

Silver age Hal wasn't a racist or a douche he was just written that way

Dude Sinestro has got a pretty good reason to be mad at the Guardians. They pretty much Sentenced him to a living hell (Qward) hoping he would die before he could expose thier dirty little secrets,But it bit them in the ass when he took it over and him in the qwardins built a power ring that took the Guardians quite a bit longer to do. That is why it sucks to lose Sinestro as a bad guy because as far as DCU bad guys go,he may be the most sucessful at ruining his arches life.

I like the idea of Parallax from another Time line. I remember in The Emerald Knights Parallax saying that he would always exisit in the time stream. That may have been retconed though. I like the idea of the living embodyment of Hal's biggest mistake have physical form and coming after him. That has some rich story oprtunities. Like how weird would it be for him being the leader of the Green Lantern Corps fighting a version of himself that pretty much destroyed the Green Lantern Corps.

                          I like it. Good Idea.

When I watched Independence Day the movie, Will Smith's character screamed Hal Jordan to me. Cross that with a little bit of New Frontier and that's my ideal Hal. The best written I've ever read of Hal was in Justice. God I wish that guy would write the character he really understood how Hal works.

My ideal Hal Jordan was during volume 4, sadly we've come along way from that during this current volume of GL.

Why does it seem that no one can get the character right? or has someone already got it right? I know one thing most will agree on HAL is not a toy salesman, hes not a man who should date a VERY young alien girl, hes not a bum so why is it that HAL is constantly handed these stupid situations? Currently HAL seems to have no life outside of his GL duties so that really skirts the issue.
