Even though I like Denny's run, I've thought the same basic thing. I don't know about the letting the earth die bit, but I always want him to yell back or do that (over reacted?) double take that Uma does in Kill Bill Part II.

I probably wouldn't actually let the Earth die.But I might let the next asteriod get a little closer this time just to screw with his head.lol I am twisted like that.

Point being, where does that dude get off?Saving the universe is not good enough for this guy? I don't really like it when superheroes act like jerks, but it would have been sooooo justiefyd in this case.

Absolutely. It's like Ed suggested; maybe if the guy said "hey, why haven't you championed the rights of minorities?. With you power and influence, you'd be a real boon to the cause." That would still be uncalled for, but a lot less ignorant than "hey, you never done nothing for me; and saving the world ain't good enough."

I always wondered about this issue, and why Hal wouldn't say something to the effect of, "I don't protect one type of skin here on Earth, but ALL skins." Instead, he was overcome by white guilt and rendered speechless. I chalked it up to a sign of the times.

Or, you know, character development. THAT was a sign of the times.

"Character development"? What's that? Is that where you reveal super secret hidden mysteries that don't fit with a character's previous history?

No, it is where you show them having an emotional reaction to something. Doesn't matter what kind of reaction, or if it fits with previous characterization (in fact, if it does, then it isn't "development", right?). Any emotional reaction to something qualifies.

Stay in the lines. I care little about a writters arctistic vision. The worst thing in the world that can happen to a comic writter is being treated like a true artist. They become douches. At the end of the day you write comic books, you are not changing the world, and you are not writting the next great American novel. get over yourself.

I am sure all of you can think of atleast one writter that has just lost touch with reality.

I am not 100 percent behind that, but I gotta admit it would be a big step in the right direction.

My ideal Hal Jordan is a superhero in its own, not bounded by anything and just goes on by his instincts. But with the entire Corps to look for now, Hal had to made some adjustment with his ways... I really do not envision him as a leader type... He can go along with a team, as with the Justice League, but not as the leader keeping everyone, including himself in order.

IMO, Green Lantern: The Animated Series had the perfect Hal Jordan. A flawed individual that doesn't always make the right calls, but will never back down from a fight and never give up and. He'll go against his orders and do whatever it takes to save the day.

Ideal Hal would be either a race car driver, or air force pilot, something not far from what he does. However, he would finally have the balls to get down on his knees, and marry Carol.

Well them getting married was hinted in Green Lantern: New Guardians #0 when Carol found a engagement ring in Hal's locker and then in GL#20 Johns actually showed they eventually married. But now with the new creative teams, that seems very far from happening.

Not just the new creative teams. DC in general seems to be pretty institutionally opposed to any long-term, stable relationships these days. I feel like you could count on one hand (or maybe one finger, and perhaps that finger only remains so DC can flip the bird at all the relationships they nullified ) the number of such relationships that remain in the new 52.
