  • Barry Allen is Coming Back...

...In case you didn't know. For real. Not as a Black Lantern, but as The Flash. Here:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countdo...Related_events

Scroll down to Promotional Campaign. It's the third paragraph. The paragraph it is in starts out as, "While alternatively revealing..." So, yeah, another death cheapened courtesy of DC. Not that I'm not happy about Barry returning.

i'm hesitant to take Wiki at it's word for that, any 'real' reference to when that was said?

I don't put much reliability in wiki, but the writing's on the wall for Barry's return. I love Wally dearly and he's made a great Flash, but it's apparent DC has all but given up on the character. If you read the book, it's hard not to notice the book is in a lame duck period. I think Didio really THOUGHT the Bart version was going to go over well, and when it didn't they gave Wally one last half hearted attempt. Wally as a character and story is painted into a corner, and it doesn't look like anyone cares enough about the guy to fix it.

So I'd be surprised if Barry WASN'T coming back this time. The symmetry of him returning in the third and "final" Crisis is hard to overlook. He made the ultimate sacrifice in the first one to save the day, and him coming back in the third one just when he's needed the most would work really well as a story. He's also the last ace up the sleeve DC has for the Flash, and they've been holding onto it for 23 years (Jesus, has it really been that long?). And Didio seems to have some kind of disdain for Wally and his Titan contemporaries for some ungodly reason. Lastly, Barry's job as a police scientist was always looked at as boring back in the day, but the CSI thing is hugely popular now.

Pretty sure we'll be seeing a Flash #351 or a new #1 in the next year with Barry as the star.

That Wally is going over to the Titans, not the JLA, is a little suspicious. It's literally like they're saving Barry a spot on the JLA... not having a speedster there is very, very dubious.

I'm still a alittle confused about Wally joining the Titans. They haven't given any clues to him leaving the JLA. He hasn't even been back on the team for more than 5 or 6 issues. I was wondering if he's gonna be part time JLA and part time Titans. Like Batman is currently leading the Outsiders. He hasn't left the JLA so...who knows.

Barry's is bound to happen sooner or later. It will be really confusing wit h 3 flashes though. I think Jay should start calling himself Mercury or something. Due to the helmet. Barry should be Flash and Waly should be something else. There's just way too many Flash's running around.

I'm all about old school, and I just can't justify calling Alan Scott or Jay Garrick anything other than GL and Flash. I might prefer their silver age counterparts, but it's just criminal to strip them of the names that originated with them.

Jay should stick with the JSA as the Flash, Barry (if this is what DC has in mind) should get the Flash ongoing series as it's star. Wally, Linda and the kids should go off into the sunset for a happy ending/retirement like Jack Knight did. I don't want him put through hell, lose his family, or any other bullshit. Just a great happy ending for him with the understanding that if he's needed, he can be called upon. Then if the Barry thing doesn't work out in a few years, then Wally can come back into service while his kids stay out of the limelight. Perhaps the 31st century or something.

Well, you gotta wonder what would've happened if they had gone into a new Wally book WHOLE-heartedly. I mean, maybe if it had gone over well, we wouldn't have this attempted ressurection of a hero who DIED a hero. Maybe it would've not had cheapened his death if he does come back.

Yeah that would have been nice, at least we can look forward to Rogues Revenge in June.

factoid: silver age heroes are best reminisced about, NOT put into use! taking notes DC? hal jordan was better left alone, now its degrading the character by pretending like he actually has a character. and they'll do the same to Barry. and Ollie( though he did have a character). and the outsiders. and the teen titans. I'm sick of silver age. This angers me!!!

While I would love for barry to come back, I'm not gonna hold my breath. its been over 20 years already.

Though we do have final crisis coming up

Well Im almost positive that Barry will be back possibly in Dc Universe Zero out his month. But it really doesnt matter to me, Im more of a wally fan myself, but if barry get like an All Star Flash ongoing or something that would be cool or mabey even turn Flash monthly into a GLC type thing. Either way as long as it replace wally its cool with me. I wish Bart didnt die though, that pissed me off, but it did give Geoff a reason to write rogues revenge.

Hm... is my memory playing tricks on me? Since the Lightning Saga, I don't recall seeing Wally in JLA at all.

Though none of the JLA Vol. 4 issues have left a lasting impression on me since Meltzer left.

At least they've had him in the "Speed Schwartz" for a few years. It's a much better story than SBP puching a snowglobe which zombies up Todd who is then unzombied by the Lazerus (Spelling?) Pit dies his hair plays the hush game THEN becomes the Red Jerk-off........(fell asleep while complaining)

                            zzzzzzzzzzzzz

                            What's this? UH Drool!!!

I'll read any flash as long as it's not handled like crap.

I'm getting sick of wallys kids being the main attraction in this current series

i think barry from his time in the 31st century will come back, but technically he will still have to go back to COIE and die sometime later on
