I swear my LCS never has copies of vol 1 of UXM by Wood. I have vol 3, and I might have vol 2, but they never carry vol 1. I'll have to ask them next time I go there.

I partly don't mind the Ultimateverse getting the axe since it's a disaster right now. Every time they want to shake things up, they kill a bunch of characters or turn them into assholes (Nightcrawler got reamed, man, and Wasp...fucking hell). Ultimatum and Ultimates 3 were absolute filth, and I cannot believe I touched them at all. I intend to collect some of the older material, and a handful of newer things, but beyond that, I just don't fucking care about that mess.

Marvel, you used to care. Shame on you.

      • Josh Trank and Simon Kinberg Talk THE FANTASTIC FOUR; Plus First Images From Set

During our almost hour-long conversation, Trank and Kinberg revealed a ton of great information about the project without getting into plot specifics. In a day and age where everything seems to be spoiled before you walk into a theater, I welcome being surprised. I want to experience the twists and turns with fresh eyes.

However, while they were guarded about the plot, the two did share a ton of information. Before diving into the full interview, here are a few of the highlights:

Trank says they “consciously decided to not release anything official” until now.

In terms of plot and story, Trank was guarded but did say, “This is a modern telling of how these four iconic characters came together and came to be.”

Trank revealed that renowned composer Philip Glass is scoring the movie with Marco Beltrami.

The film recently did a few days of additional photography and it was to film some bits and pieces. Nothing major. They weren’t filming some huge new ending.

The original shoot was seventy-two days and they were on-schedule and on-budget.

The film is heavily influenced by David Cronenberg and Trank mentioned that Scanners and The Fly were big influences on the look of the film.

The film is an origin story and there are influences of what Kirby and Stan were doing in the 60’s all the way up into the present day.

The Ultimates was also an influence and a lot of the science specifics are there. They told me a lot of the means of transformation they took from the books.

Trank’s first cut of the film was around 2 hours and 10 minutes. He said the final film will probably be between 2 hours and 2 hours and 20 minutes.

Kinberg says there is an Easter egg in the teaser trailer.

They are very influenced by what Marvel has been doing regarding combined universes. Saying that, they admit it’s tricky to combine X-Men and FF because the X-Men films so far don’t acknowledge the Fantastic Four and the Fantastic Four takes place essentially in the same time period as the modern day X-Men movies.

Kinberg does confirm that there is a different approach to the Marvel movies at Fox than when they started making Marvel films at the studio. “There is an intent and want to be a part of a larger fabric and tapestry the way Marvel has done so brilliantly.”

Trank is on Twitter but isn’t tweeting right now. If you want to follow him he’s at @JoshuaTrank.

        • Robert Downey Jr. on Tony Stark’s Evolution in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR

“Very Doubtful” Joss Whedon Will Return for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR; Plus New Images

Live-Action X-MEN TV Series in Early Development at Fox with '24' Producers

Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the network is having preliminary conversations to adapt the iconic Marvel comic series — and feature film franchise — as a live-action television series with 24 producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto involved.

Fox's potential live-action series is being penned by Star Trek 3 writing duo Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, sources tell THR; they will share a "created by" credit with Katz and Coto, who also will serve as showrunners.

Fox declined to comment on Katz's, Coto's, McKay's and Payne's involvement.

Fox studio counterpart 20th Century Fox owns the rights to the film franchise (with seven features already released based on X-Men characters). While conversations to bring the franchise to the small screen are underway, sources indicate a deal is far from complete, with Marvel — which owns the comic rights — still having to sign off on the deal. The comic book powerhouse is based at Disney, with ABC shows including Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter on the network and five upcoming straight-to-series programs in the works there. Marvel would have to sign off on the deal.

TV Insider first reported the X-Men news.

The potential X-Men series comes as Fox, under television group chairmen and CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman, noted that the network also has had conversations to revive The X-Files with Chris Carter as well as a limited run of Prison Break.

                • Looks good so far. I have no idea how they're going to try and connect this with the X-men films though. They are already going BIG in this movie so the next X film would have to address it.

Definitely looks a bit different than the Funko.

That looks more like a heavy sci-fi movie than a fun Marvel flick. It'll probably be fun in the end but the tease doesn't particularly convince me to go into the theater.

Lame. Also, good job blatantly trying to cash in on the audience who liked Days of Future Past.
