Just a few minutes ago, I saw the commercial for Gotham.

Really not sure how to react.

That seems to be the general consensus, myself included.

I mean, on the one hand, they have characters I like: Catwoman, Riddler, Ivy, Penguin.

On the other, Ivy looks like a teen, and the general timeline looks horribly wrong. Literally, they are just doing a live-action Gotham High School, where all the characters are just thrown together for the sake of something new regardless of accuracies and inaccuracies.

It's just looks like a shitty knockoff of Smallville, which itself was a shitty imitation of the comics.

I think I'm going to end up really hating this series.

It's timeline is right when Bruce Wayne's parents died and this shows main focus will be around Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock.

It's meant to be a police drama set in Gotham City.

I want either a police procedural set in a pre-Batman Gotham City, where Falcone reigns and cops are on the take - or a Gotham Central show with supervillains and a Batman somewhere in the background, maybe appearing in two episodes per season.
This is a weird mishmash of both. And yes, by the time Bruce puts on the cowl, Riddler will be pushing fifty.

Riddler is a problem, as is Ivy unless they a) make then super-young, or b) have Bruce take on the role of Batman at a young age, and even then it's iffy. Penguin and Gordon are both meant to be older men though so they're fine.

At no point did the trailer say what ages any characters were, nor where most of them shown beyond brief flashes to cocktease the viewers. Of course I'm going to come up with numbers based on their appearances and not how old the actors actually are (because, guess what, they very likely won't use those ages as the characters' ages).
