But that's STILL stupid, IMHO. That Larfleeze would be dumb enough to go hunt for a fictional character.

Yeah, it's OK to get a few laughs out of his extreme greed, but he was supposed to be a force to be reckoned with, and he is coming across more like a mentally deficient Ferengi.

The way he's depicted now, they could defeat him by mentioning how great a giant anvil on the head is, and he would start INSISTING that he get the BIGGEST ANVIL EVER on his head.

Their Holiday stories have always been a titch off the norm of the conventional story-lines. I can believe this more than some of there others...

Hell, Hal could tell him that there's a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow... or that Lucky the Leprechan could grant him wishes. Instead of a being character which greed knows no bounds, he's been reduced into a comic relief moron. I get that there are two other badasses in Sinestro and Atrocitus, but I think they've gone too far.

BTW, how many people did you expect to get that Ferengi reference?

But he's not from Earth. How would he know Santa is fake?

Perhaps he could do a TINY amount of research? Does he believe everything anybody ever tells him? That's the idiocy in this. Sylent is right, this would be up there with Larfleeze searching for pots of gold at the end of rainbows.

And anyway, in my experience, the greedier someone is, the harder time they have believing that others aren't just as greedy as them, so Larfleeze should have a HARDER time believing that Santa is real than you or I would.

Well, you got it. We can't be the only two here, right?

              • It's a fucking Christmas comic. How serious do you guys want this to be. I have yet to see a x-mas comic or even tv episode of a hero comic that wasnt fun and goofy. Some of you are being a tad bit ridiculous
I LOVE conspiracy theorists. They are like human versions of the cymbal clapping, dancing monkeys. No one takes them all that seriously and they get bored with them after about 10 minutes.

                • I can totally see that xmas special happening, have you seen some of the past holiday specials?

I dont get why the New Guardians would stay on Earth, its retarded. Glad they will be looking other planets in 2814 though.
If I'm not here, you'll probably find me at one of these:

I don't have a problem with a Christmas comic being goofy. I just have a problem with one being used to make a character that has, IMHO, already become too goofy, become irredeemably stupid.

                    • I dont find him stupid at all. I also dont think he ever started out as anything but goofy. The first time we see Larfleeze he is calling out MINE and talking about all the things that he wants for his own like a 5 year old watching commercials during Saturday moring cartoons. I dunno where the idea of him being this almost Atrocitus level bad ass came from......

C'mon, when we first saw him, he was surrounded by all this horrific death and decay. He took out a bunch of Controllers. He had his constructs devour living beings. He cut off Hal's arm to get his ring. (Yeah, it was only a vision, but I have no doubt he would have done it, given the chance.) He was far from GOOFY. Any comic effect from his greed was offset by the rather disturbing nature of his actions and environs. Now he has been somewhat divorced from all that, and has shown very little of that power/threat level, and mostly seems to cringe and whine and make stupid statements.

                          • Fair enough but honestly I like him this way. I think he adds an interesting dynamic to the bunch.

I can understand the annoyance if they were gonna make the Santa thing part of an actual GL or GLC book but it's gonna be it's own separate thing. It can literally pass people by if they so desire.

I totally agree with this. Larfleeze went from a threat to a comic character. He was kinda scary at first, but now...
