I'm shocked at some of these numbers. Young Justice is below 30k?! Seriously? Had DC given that title back to the likes of Peter David and Todd Nauck it'd still be in the top 25 comics for the month. I'm glad that the Flash is still over 40k and surprised that Naomi and Shazam are over 35k and beating out Young Justice. . .

I actually like that book. I don't love it, but it's a fun enough read. The numbers seem typical of the fact that Bendis is not a big draw to DC fans overall; certainly not the coup marketing was hoping for and hyping.

...Okay that bump was temporary. But still seems to be settling a bit.

Yeah, we might never solve that mystery. These are the numbers we could've reasonably expected in April. Hope they level off because people are missing a good book.

Well you're in the minority and I personally like the art, but I sympathize being apparently the only guy that couldn't (and still can't) stand Mahnke's art.

Doug Mahnke isn't that good to me. He's blandly competent at best. I don't think he's ever done anything that's ever really impressed me.

Regarding Liam Sharp, he's interesting, I suppose. He looks to do digital inking, which I think really hurts his work. I'm not saying that method doesn't work at all, I just don't find Sharpe's utilization of it flattering for his style. Just going off of memory here, his inking is often too "blotchy" (if that makes sense) and there isn't enough variation in the lines and values. There are ways to make more gradation in the inking, but he's just not doing them. That probably has something to do with his digital method, but I will say that it looks kind of distinctive, and maybe he's just going for the look he has, in which case it's just a matter of taste. Also, his art is really rushed at times, but I know that has more to do with his deadlines than his capability as an artist. Generally speaking, I'm not terribly impressed by him, but he isn't a bad artist by any means, and he has done specific shots that are very impressive. He's considerably better than Doug Mahnke, who just never does anything impressive, but at the same time, Mahnke never does anything horribly, either.

Also, from what I recall seeing, Sharpe's action can be choreographed and staged better. A lot of artists drop the ball on that, or just aren't as good at it as they should be, in my opinion, and it's a really important factor in superhero comics. More dynamic angles and poses, harder hitting shots, I'd just like to see more clever stuff all around.

But! I've discovered I'm very critical and hard (and yes, definitely to myself as well), so all in all, he's probably doing a really good job.

1. Young Justice is heavily based on the old Peter David series of the same name. While you don't need to have read any of that, the mere fact that this is a continuation might scare people off.

2. Speculators might hope that the introduction of a new character by the creator of Miles Morales could be worth a ton of money when her film comes out in... 2027 or so.
