But at the end of the day it's the WB Executives screwing up these movies by getting too involved and not letting their directors make their movies. TDK Trilogy was amazing because Nolan got to tell the Batman stories he wanted too. Man of Steel, whether you like it or not, was 100% Snyder's vision & is one of the better DCEU films. Patty got to make the Wonder Woman movie she wanted and most people loved it. BVS, Suicide Squad and Justice League were all troubled productions because WB had their hands all over those films and look how they were received.

You guys realize this is Geoff Johns version of JL adapted to movies right? The DCEU is practically the New52 the movie

Also, do I need to mention fartallax?

It's more a matter of DC focusing on actors, directors and CGI, and not focusing on the stories. All of Marvel's stories are at minimum pretty good.

But with that said, Geoff was a producer on two movies that were critically reviled (BvS and Suicide Squad), and two that are among the top 15 money losers of all time (GL and JL). A captain has to go down with his ship. He can't make someone else do it.

There are too many other people out there with better records who DC could hire.

Unless WB execs were somehow responsible for giving Geoff Johns more say in the form these films would take. If THAT happened, it would ultimately be the execs' fault, but one could still say that Geoff didn't have a positive effect. But as I have no idea whether anything like that was going on, I can't really say whether that scenario has any resemblance to reality.

(By the way, I strongly disliked Man of Steel, and think "one of the better DCEU films" is a rather low bar. Snyder's vision could have USED some interference (or better yet replacement, since mere interference, no matter how well meaning, seldom makes things better) IMHO.)

It's pretty sad. Geoff Johns has run out of ways to shock or entice anybody anywhere, so now it's down to scraping the barrel of, "Well what if... the fucking WATCHMEN fought the DC Universe?"

I don't think Geoff hated Kyle. He just thought it was all about Hal. But Hal wasn't a big enough star for a franchise to revolve around. Geoff should have made Green Lantern a four-hero ensemble. It would have worked that way.

Instead he added TWO MORE Lanterns and tried to make it about five Lanterns revolving around Hal. But Hal didn't cast enough of a gravitational field to keep all those characters in orbit.

Geoff needs to own this failure.

At least he used to. It seems the consensus is that his best days are behind him. That, and I think sensibilities have changed/are changing from when he was most popular as a DC writer. He likes these long, drawn out big events (or faux-events) that are light on character development, but big on bombast, and I think people are getting tired of that sort of model. If his Doomsday Clock story winds up being not good, perhaps people will begin to stop buying stuff he writes just because he writes it. His Green Lantern run ran out of steam, Flashpoint is pretty lame, his Justice League run was a whole lot of nothing, and so was Forever Evil, Trinity War, and so on. Eventually the effects of these continuous bad stories will catch up with him.
There was a time when I looked forward to books Johns wrote. His first JSA run was amazing. First Flash run was fantastic. GL was terrific up until the origin retcon ended. Even his Booster Gold had a great premise and was an entertaining read.

But along the way, the Geoff Johns who I felt like was writing just for me, slowly transformed into the Michael Bay of comics. And I have no interest in reading Michael Bay comics.

#3. We know now that either version of JL is basically a recreation of Geoff Johns' own New 52 "Justice League: Origin" story.

Can he finally go down with the ship this time? Please?
The Green Lantern movie had his fingerprints all over it, but he got his name removed from the credits as one of the producers and pulled a Houdini act in escaping all blame for it. So don't be surprised if he performs the same escape here.

He should also get the blame for the decline of the GL comics, but I bet he won't.
