I called my LCS today and asked about the ring and the lady, who knows me, told me only one came and it came broke!
But yesterday when I got my comics, she gave me the Blackest Night promo poster and it's on my wall right now!
BTW...next week when Blackest Night #1 is released, if your LCS orders 50 or more copies of the comic, they can get 50 Black Lantern promo rings for $8.00.Comment

I went to a CS near my job and inquired about the rings. They handed them all out without a purchase. WTF?!? The guy said, "We only got a handful of them in." How is that possible? Each store is supposed to get 50 upon ordering the 50 books. I'm thinking they either kept a crap-load of them or they gave them away to their friends. Either way, it's bad business. That reminded me why I never go to that shop.

I got my ring today when I picked up GL #43. I never asked about how many they got. In my store, I'm the only big GL fan, so they never would have given the only one to anybody BUT me.
Cool ring though. For a plastic giveaway, it's a good sculpt. The plastic isn't cheap or flimsy either. I'm looking forward to getting rings for all the corps!

I just assumed they will come with the other figures. They'll end up using the mold from the Corps prop that has all 8 rings on that hideous pedestal with the bubble on top. I assume that's where this black ring's mold came from. DCD always reuses ring molds.
Anyway, there's the new Star Saphire figure, an Inidgo figure, a Saint Walker figure, the RL Atrocitus figure, the Krybb figure (they'll finally put out a proper SC ring), and a Larfleeze figure. Those figures right there round out all eight corps where they could simply put a plastic ring of a mold they already have at their disposal.Comment

For sure we know Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, and Blue will be with the Hal SDCC exclusives. All that is missing is Indigo and Violet. Wish I never pre-ordered that ring prop now. You can at least wear the plastic ones.White Lantern's Oath

I believe for the most part, a huge portion of LCS got at least 1 black lantern ring. My shop got one and since I help volunteer to do shipments I scored it. My LCS is Fan-Quest in Yuma, Az. Sadly we did not have enough orders to get the 50 ring pack.White Lantern's Oath

Reminds me of when they did that Planet Krypton ring set where the only new ring was the Earth 3 Power Ring ring. And even that was a metal recast of a ring that had already been offered in plastic.Comment

I hate to break it to you but thats the ring that was a promo for Green Lantern Corps #1 or Green Lantern Corps Recharge #1. I dont remember which. But it came out about 2 years ago. DCD has given them away at SDCC the past 2 years. Much like the Black Lantern rings. Comic shops had to order 50 copies to order a bag of 50 rings for 8.00. I have 14 of them. I can do you one better- Over the weekend, I went to my LCS and asked to put a Black Ring on hold when BN is released. The owner said, "Wait a minute...," goes into the back and brings out a Green Lantern promo ring. He said they were released when Hal died the first time around MANY years ago. I had no idea any rings were even issued. It looked like this:

Im not sure how other LCS got more then 1 ring early. I received 1 free Black Lantern ring. This is the way it was suppose to work. All Comic shops should have received 1 Black Lantern Ring. To show retailers what the bag of rings will be like this coming wednesday. This wednesday with the release of Blackest Night #1 Comic book shops who ordered 50 or more copies were able to order a bag of 50 rings for 8.00.
I deal direct with Diamond Comics Distributors and have a very small comic shop. I was only had about 15 copies committed to customers so I am eating 35 copies as of now just to score a bag of rings.Last edited by gl2814h; 07-10-2009, 03:45 AM.Comment
