    • Terror in the Crypt (aka Crypt of the Vampire) (1964)

"Oh no, they're going the wrong way!" -- my dad

A count invites an associate to research a mysterious ancestor of his in order to allay his fears regarding the identity of a possible serial killer stalking his family. But the count's daughter has disturbing dreams in which she is the killer and the head maid is up to something.

Christopher Lee is wasted in this (my dad thought he was Cushing for a minute). It isn't bad but it is mediocre, and the transfer wasn't remastered so the picture quality on YouTube isn't as sharp and clear as it needs to be (sound also drifts at times in quality). The plot isn't that bad (a supposed curse for revenge by a ancestress practicing witchcraft, and the daughter believes her nightmares signify that she is doing the killings while attempts are made to reveal the truth, such as the researcher trying to discover a painting of the ancestress to disprove the daughter's fear of being a reincarnation) but the acting is just barely serviceable so it makes everything feel cheap when it should feel decent (Lee does an okay job but the rest of the cast is by-the-numbers, then the technical quality comes into play which makes it feel like a ho-hum student film).

There are some decent ideas here but they're undermined which makes the film feel like it's either dragging or obscuring on purpose to inflate a sense of mystery (again, partly the fault of the visual quality).

Not a terrible way to spend an hour-plus but this really does not a proper rerelease a la Captain Kronos on Hammer's official channel.

        • Been seeing some things floating around online that Ricou Browning is in poor health (dude's old as shit by now, that's for sure). He might not be around too much longer.

Yep. And only because CftBL was about two decade after the others.
