Reptilicus is certainly a film that has to be seen to be believed.
Definately not the highest quality Kaiju-type movie out there, but it's charming in that 'so bad it's good' kinda way. Like when Reptilicus eats a cartoon farmer.

Great. I'm going to have to consider shelling out more bucks for the Gman.Originally posted by Lex Luthor View Post
Those interviews should be fun.

or as the original American titles read (because Mothra is the name of the island here):

Mothra's my favorite (with the possible exception of the big G himself) kaiju. And the shobijin(tiny singing twins; here played by "The Peanuts") are in top form in this early one. Appropriately enough, this is directed by Ishiro Honda himself (director of both the original Godzilla and Mothra).

Watched the American (dubbed) version of Mothra (1961) with historical commentary. These guys confirmed what I suspected: there was a group of Western-looking actors living in Tokyo that Toho (and others) called on for all their non-Japanese parts.
Have to watch the original (subtitled) version on this Netflix disc yet.

Not sure if that's the first destruction of Tokyo tower, but you think they'd stop bothering to rebuild it at some point. All the monsters head straight for it.
BTW: you could always go with Battra, kind of the bad@$$ version of Mothra.
