Yeah, just some good natured ribbing. I have no issues with Abrams doing Star Wars.

Yeah, that makes sense, too.
In other news, I think we can forget about seeing another Star Trek movie until at least 2018. Abrams is signed for a trilogy there, and I see him (and Disney) putting a lot more priority on Star Wars. Since Paramount likely won't want to wait, hopefully Abrams will get released from his Paramount contract, and we'll get a better movie as a result just in time for the 50th anniversary. (Especially if Kurtzman and Orci are no longer writing.)

You haven't even seen part 2, how do you know we will need a better movie? And 2018 ain't that far off anyways. Right now we are 4years in between movies, so 5 years isn't much longer.

The 50th anniversary is in 2016. I'm sure Paramount will want something to celebrate it. (Unless CBS gives us a new TV show, but I'm not holding my breath.) And based on Abrams' last Trek film and his comments about the new one, I have many justified reservations. Which leads into my reservations about what he'll do with Star Wars (the expected lens flares and massive plot holes aside).

Michael Arndt is writing the first one. With a movie as big as this, I'm sure even an Oscar winning screenwriter will see rewrites.
Lawerence Kasdan & Simon Kinberg are writing Episode 8.

Maybe not, but he did write THE fan favorite Star Wars movie. That's enough credentials to get a lot of Star Wars fans excited, I'd imagine.Originally posted by Mister.Weirdo View PostNot exactly impressed with those choices. The only thing really good that Kinberg was involved with was Sherlock Holmes and Kasdan hasn't been involved with anything good in years.
