Despite it being generic "Dances With Wolves" in Space, and Cameron's wank off material to say "white people suck", I WILL say Avatar was the most beautiful movie I ever saw in imax.

I enjoyed both Avatar and Titanic. I'm not going to hate on them even though it's become fashionable to do so. However, I have not watched either film at home despite having bought them on video discs. I was hoping that The Force Awakens would not off both films from the top spot and paid my share in that seeing the movie like 5 times in the theater.
Anyway, I thought The Force Awakens got the franchise back on track and playing it safe was the way to go. And what I mean by playing it safe was pretty much retelling the original Star Wars film. You just witnessed the strength of geek knowledge. N.W.A., Nerd With Attitude. Straight out of Vulcan!

I agree they played it safe with the rehashing of ANH, but it feels like Star Wars again and not the CGI/green screen synthetic feel the prequels had. And even if they rehashed ANH, history has always repeated itself in SW. Or Rhymes as Lucas said. And with that movie out of the way, they can take the story in different places for VIII and IX.

Well, in my case, I didn't jump on the band wagon later. I remember coming out of the theater of both of those (and I went in with hope) complaining about them to the people I went with.Originally posted by Darth_Primus View PostI enjoyed both Avatar and Titanic. I know Ed wouldn't agree with this (because he's mentioned it), but I have much more tolerance for bad films that had no budget and few real actors than these mega blockbusters that are just so hollow. I'd rather watch Plan 9 from Outer Space, Troll 2 or Santa Claus Conquers the Martian over Pearl Harbor, Titanic, or Avatar any day of the week (in fact I have re-watched those while I won't touch the latter again). And the spectacle doesn't add anything to me. I was just bored through Avatar despite Cameron's pretty cartoons. But I'm not trying to say this objectively. I can understand (well, maybe not with Pear Harbor) how people would take the exact opposite approach. That's just my taste that I have no tolerance for these big-budget, CGI-heavy blockbusters that fall short.Last edited by Space Cop; 06-09-2016, 04:41 PM.

If there EVER was a new movie that he was justified being in post OT, this is the one. This time right before episode IV is the height of his villainy.

A Rogue One trailer next week, big Rebels news, and more Star Wars rumors

The biggest rumor to pop up this week is that we are probably getting the Rogue One trailer on ABC next Friday night. Listings for this Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey special are described as also having attached a 3 minute Rogue One trailer. The only teasers we’ve had so far for this film are not 3 minutes so many are taking that as indication that it will be a brand new trailer. July 15th is the kick off day for Star Wars Celebration London which is where we’ve been guessing the trailer would debut, until now.
