I was thinking about that. I like the idea of reserving him for the "real" episodic movies. Keep the separate and special as to not dillute the product. Same with John Williams while they have him. This movie isn't going to have the crawl, and will have many other stylistic departures.

Thankfully, JW has no interest in composing the music for any of the SW spin-offs, although personally I think losing Desplat was a major loss for Rogue One (I like Giacchino and all, but Desplat would have been different).Originally posted by Big Daddy Dave Targaryen I View PostI was thinking about that. That gif is hilarious!
BTW, I see whiny Kylo as a reflection of whiny Luke and whiny Anakin before him. All three characters are on a 3 movie journey and start out that way. This trilogy isn't just about Rey's journey.

True, both Luke and Anakin had bad whiny moments, but I actually cared about Luke. I don't give a crap about Kylo (I had to look the character's name up to find the image). And if the movies had started with Phantom Menace, I probably would have never given a crap about Vader either (or all of Star Wars for that matter). Fortunately, we started with badass Vader--breaking a good guy's neck--and not "I'm a person and my name is Anakin."
On an unrelated, but potentially equally controversial SW topic, Cinemassacre has been doing retrospectives on Star Wars this past couple weeks:

While I wouldn't put it that strongly (I actually own all three on DVD), I agree where the primary blame lies.Originally posted by Booster Beetle View PostI don't blame the actors for the prequels being shit, I blame Lucas
Christensen isn't a great actor (though even if he were Mother Teresa and Albert Schweitzer all in one it wouldn't directly bear on his acting), but he's not horrible (witness Jumper). Likewise, I've seen Portman deliver some great performances (V for Vendetta and Garden State come to mind), but the scenes between them even in the best of the prequels (ep. 3) are often horrible. Therefore, I have to believe it's primarily due to the clunky dialogue.

Yeah, while a truly great actor might manage to be good even under a lousy director, that lousy director (especially with a subpar script to work from) will get terrible performances from many an actor that would do far better elsewhere.

Yeah, Hayden did not have much to work with in terms of the script and dialogue. I was watching come YouTube videos and the people always reference the Anakin Skywalker line, "I hate sand..." Even Oscar winner Natalie Portman couldn't do much with the script and dialogue. And they neutered Sam L. Jackson. I was really hoping for a charismatic and loud mouth Jedi, but nope, just subdued and boring like the rest of them.
Hayden sounds like a good guy. I never hated on him.
I'm excited about seeing Rogue One tonight. YIPPEE!!!You just witnessed the strength of geek knowledge. N.W.A., Nerd With Attitude. Straight out of Vulcan!
