  • The Great Buddha Arrival (2018)

    "Many people saw it."

Another American premier at GFest; this one based on a 30s Japanese film that is lost but considered a kaiju predecessor. Heard later (from one of the actresses) that it was a rough cut and more is to come.

    Notzilla (2019)

"How often does this happen in Japan?
    -Like every two weeks."

And one more fanfilm/spoof. Very fast-pace humor and a good watch.

      • The Alligator People (1959)

"I'll kill you Alligator Man! Just like I'd kill any four-legged gator!"

Another 60th anniversary. And for the full moon, I watched one I picked up at the con.

The Werewolf vs. the Vampire Woman (1970)

"I wish we were back in civilization, like in the middle of traffic."

        • The Alligator People is actually a pretty good film, corny makeup aside.

As for the other flick: "See it with someone you hate"? That's a ballsy tagline.

          • Mad Cowgirl (2006)

"I am the girl with the thunder kick."

            Stupid.

            Thunderbolt (1995)

"Let me in; I'm the press."

A lesser Jackie Chan flick, but setting it in the racing world is a fun twist.

Yep. It's a cool story and the middle mutation (where he has scales on his face) is decent. The final one (in the poster) is weak.

I posted that without even noticing. That is pretty awesome. Honestly, it was a tad slow, but worth the watch (for me, anyway). And Naschy is an iconic werewolf (probably played one more than any other actor in movies).

"Pesaram, she is a bird, a broken one. Your grandfather used to say that a bird which flies into your house is an angel. You must look upon his presence as a blessing."

                Sid and Nancy (1986)

"They wouldn't send us any money! They said we'd spend it on DRUGS!
                -We would!"

Forgot how stylized this movie is.

                • Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)

"Nothing you can do in three minutes."

Two special agents intercept a unique package only to stumble upon a massive conspiracy that threatens to destroy the space city of Alpha and its millions of inhabitants.

I can't even begin to express how incredibly beautiful the film is. The visuals are gorgeous and with such variety, I almost didn't care for Laureline being turned into a damsel-in-distress at a couple points (she otherwise handles herself pretty well throughout the film). Valerian is basically Tom Cruise but younger.

                  Damn, Luc Besson nailed this.

                    "I can't believe she drank that s**t."

Pretty formulaic found-footage horror that starts as one of those renovation shows set in eastern Europe and involves a town with recent history of witch burning.

                    First Man (2018)

"I don't know what space exploration will uncover, but I don't think it'll be exploration just for the sake of exploration. I think it'll be more the fact that it allows us to see things. That maybe we should have seen a long time ago. But just haven't been able to until now."

Yeah, I thought that movie was underrated. The chemistry between the leads was weak, but it looked great and the side characters were fun. It definitely captured the feeling of the few Valerian comics I read.
