    • @Kal: Welcome to this forum.

Well I was thinking of that statement somebody from the film crew made, that the suit will look like it is in the comics, but in the transformation process it will be like liquid , or lava or something like that.

      • A transcript of MPP's (from CBM) set report about the suit. Nuff said:
I'm not gonna lie, I'm worried about how the suit's gonna look.

"That's the least of everyone's worry here [laughs], it's gonna look just like the comic stories."

How do you know, did you see any artwork?

"I saw a handful of storyboards and mock ups already and it looks like what's in the comics by kids read. Black and green and white."

Something like this? [I showed him this concept art image from my phone]

"Something like that, but the gloves are shorter. Maybe not as simple. I didn't see the whole suit. It was from a scene where [Ryan] changes into it. It was, like, lava melting on him."

... lava? At least not like how Venom looked in Spider-Man 3, right?

"Well, like liquid. Like if someone threw a can of paint on him and it splashed around and covered him up. And it's not solid colors really. More like the colors shift around subtly. It's made of pure energy."

At this point, unfortunately, it was lunch time for the crew. When I stepped out of the trailer with them, I was noticed very quickly by the security staff. Luckily, my standard excuse got me out of there before too many questions were thrown my way. I did, however, grab a quick look at one of their set badges. Sorry all, but I blocked out his name and face before posting it.

        Gotta respect someone's privacy, right?

              • I was pretty disappointed in the suit when I first saw it because I was hoping for something more like the comics, but the more I see it, the more I'm getting used to it. I might even like it ...

I hope that it does end up having blacks in it. Or maybe it's just going to be shown to be shadowed a lot with the ring as the main light source. Not sure if I'm ever going to like the painted on look of it, with it melting onto his skin, but I am glad that it doesn't just look like a second-rate molded rubber super-hero costume. It certainly seems alien.

Oh, and while I'm not crazy about the shape of the mask, I love the white eyes!

                • If that's the final look of the suit then I'm unimpressed. I'd have rather seen a skin tight latex suit tweaked to look like the suit in First Flight. This almost kills the movie for me....

I hope we see some full body shot sooner than later that has this thing looking a little clearer. It almost looks like a solid green body suit just with a bunch of little glowing lines in it. The mask shape sould've been better too.

Im sorry, but I have to say something. How can it do that when you have yet to see any actual FOOTAGE of the movie? Now if we heard reports that Ryan was portraying Hal with a Southern accent and trying to play the role gay, then I'd think you'd have a claim to that.

                    • know one will be completely satisfied with the suit, we can just hope for the best but i have noticed the kind of shoulder pad to neck part of the costume and from there downwards its like a fibre optic strand across each level of the suit. Its like a over exacerbated, over priced, over hyped pin stripe suit!

Would you mind throwing up any images we've not seen?
What kind of Thor stuff is in it?

                          • Green Lantern creators past and present shed some light on their opinion of the GL movie costume

                            http://blog.newsarama.com/2010/07/15...movie-costume/

We asked Green Lantern creators of today and yesterday on their thoughts of the Green Lantern movie costume that had its first image debut today.

                            Neal Adams
I would love to like the costume, and I suppose I like the effort, but it has seemed to me that the advantage of the originating company to control the property would be followed by a desire and a commitment to keep the character as created. Many hands have worked on this character. It seems awfully disrespectful to all those people to allow an outside designer to undo all that work and effort.

Perhaps it will work out for the best. I certainly hope so. Because I am 100% behind the project. But I will say, had I been in charge, I would have seen to it that it bore a far more real resemblance to the original.

                            Patrick Gleason
Looks very cool! But I’ll reserve my final judgment for when I see it in action up on the screen. I did just see one of the interior shots from the EW issue and Renoylds is wearing the brown bomber jacket. That really made me go, ‘Wow, that’s Hal Jordan!’

                            Ron Marz
It looks like a Green Lantern costume, and it seems pretty cool to me. It undeniably says ‘Green Lantern’ to the uniniated, and that’s what matters, rather than which details are different from the version in the comic. I can’t get caught up in the insanity of judging an entire film on one still photo. The important thing is what this costume looks like on the screen, in motion, not what it looks like Photoshopped onto a magazine cover.

                            Beau Smith
Okay, not being known for being a fashion plate, my opinion on the Ryan Reynolds/Green Lantern movie costume will not cause the catwalk crowd to shudder in horror.

Every transition from comic book to film has to have a tweak or two. When you are dealing with the creative world, all artists must make their mark. That’s why they are hired. Add to this that the suits/money people will also try and stick their finger in the pie as well. This costume is not that much of a stray from the original comic book version. There is just enough of a change to satisfy the studios that they “updated” the look without offending the core comic book audience.

I think they did very well with the hardest part — the mask. In my opinion, I see nothing that stands out as terrible, causing the villagers to light the torches and head to Hollywood. On my two-year run of writing Guy Gardner, I had the opportunity to write the Hal Jordan character many times. During that time, his costume changed a few time through editorial and the event changes of the time. No one screamed and I don’t think anyone will here.

It looks good and it’s fly.
