Considering it is the critics who really didn't like the movie in droves, not the fans, and they probably didn't even know who Geoff Johns was or couldn't pick him out of a lineup, blaming Geoff really is a stretch. He is part of the team, so yeah, he has to catch some of the flak, but it certainly shouldn't be laid on his doorstep.

And let's be honest here too. The movie as of last Monday was only being projected to do in the Mid 50 million range, so if it does come in around 52, that isn't much of an under performance, especially considering the horrible reviews.

Crime and Punishment, Damnation and Redemption. Hal
      Jordan... And The Spectre.

I'm dead, yet I live. I have no identity. Yet I know
who I am. And once again I've been given power enough
to change the world. This time, Lord...
      Let me be worthy."

true. and as bad as spiderman 3 and x3 were they still did well regarding making money.

hell look at the bayformers franchise.... the 2nd movie sucked but made a gang of cash

the one big thing i think we all can agree on is hollywood needs to quit adding 2 or more villains in one fucking comic book film.

Spider Man and X Men's third movies did well because people loved their 2nds. When people get disgruntled with a franchise, it is usually the next part that pays at the box office, regardless of how good the part is.

Actually, the number of villains is overblown. If it is well-written, you can have a bunch of villains. The Nolan Batman movies proved that. But the way Hollywood tends to cram villains in, usually does result in a mess.

I blame the stupid negativity about the film before it was release and anyone ever saw it, Green Lantern is only a little off Thor and X-men and they weren't any better movies and had no negative press for the most part, and GL will still come close.

Agreed a lot of people here seem to think Geoff is biggest problem in the entire world. So he hates Kyle get the fuck over it.

I could list many many many issues of the comic & episodes of the various Bruce Timm series, even from Batman Beyond, that completely destroy the poorly constructed, repetitive, shallow, dull endurance test that is TDK. Mad Love annihilates TDK, and it's 22 minutes long. It's an okay homage to cop dramas, political potboilers & vigilante movies, but as a Batman story, it's a joke. It's hard for me to imagine that the man who did Following, Memento, The Prestige & Inception made those two so-so Batman movies.

Considering that 99.9% of the world doesn't know (or care) who Johns is, you can't really blame him for the film. Perhaps a few decisions here and there, but it's still nothing the general audience would care about.

I'll gladly blame Johns if he was the one who made all the decisions to make what was a true to the mythos and kickass Green Lantern movie. Regardless of the unjustified and ridiculous hate that the movie has gotten from a section of fans and most critics, I loved Green Lantern and am very proud of the job everyone did on the movie. I have my theories of why it underperformed but none of them have anything to do with the actual movie, but i'm sure that won't stop people from reaching like they always do.
