  • Inhumans: Marvel Casts Its Live-Action Black Bolt

The Inhumans have found their leader: Hell on Wheels star Anson Mount has joined the cast of Marvel’s upcoming superhero series.

Mount will play Black Bolt — the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.

“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently,” said Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel Television. “His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt.”

Added showrunner Scott Buck: “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”

Mount joins an ensemble cast that includes Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) as Maximus, Black Bolt’s brother — a clever and charming Inhuman who harbors an intense desire to wear the crown himself.

Marvel’s Inhumans will premiere its first two episodes in IMAX theaters for two weeks in September, then it will continue on ABC for its full eight-episode run

don't worry about the OP-ness; whenever its needed, they'll suffer the appropriate amount of either PIS or CIS to keep the pwnage to a minimum.

look for that character to get beat by Aunt May (or somebody similar) in its 3rd appearance, just to keep the scales balanced........

      • Amy Acker Set as Female Lead in Fox's Marvel Drama

Fox's Marvel drama has cast its leading lady, and diehard fanboys are going to love it.

Amy Acker, a Person of Interest and Angel alum, has nabbed the female lead in the untitled Marvel drama from Matt Nix, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Also joining the cast are Bunheads grad Emma Dumont and Percy Hynes White (Between).

The action-adventure project focuses on two ordinary parents (True Blood's Stephen Moyer, Acker) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

Acker will star as Kate Stewart, a woman who is struggling with her separation from her husband, Reed (Moyer) and her increasingly challenging teenage children. When her family situation takes a dark turn, she finds that she's stronger than she thinks.

For Acker, the casting brings her back to Fox and producers 20th Century Fox Television following her two-season run on Joss Whedon's Dollhouse. Her credits include Whedon's Angel and Much Ado About Nothing. She's fresh off her multiple-season run on CBS' Person of Interest, which wrapped its run in June, and counts CBS' MacGyver and Alias among her credits. She's repped by APA, Anonymous Content and Sloane Offer.

Dumont, meanwhile, will take on the role of Lorna Dane/Polaris — a strong-willed, brave and loyal mutant who has the ability to manipulate magnetism. Her credits also include NBC's Aquarius and Pretty Little Liars. She's with APA, Untitled and Bloom Hergott.

White will portray Andy, a sensitive kid and bit of a loner, who keeps to himself to avoid the turmoil he faces at school and at home. His credits include Between, 11.22.63 and Night at the Museum. He's with Innovative Artists and OAZ.

Burn Notice grad Nix wrote the pilot, which X-Men franchise veteran Bryan Singer will direct. The duo executive produce alongside Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory. 20th Century Fox Television will produce in association with Marvel Television.

The cast includes Natalie Alyn Lind, Blair Redford (Switched at Birth), Jamie Chung, Sean Teale.

        • I like the back and forth between the X-men and Inhumans casting announcements. Maybe I'm looking too much into this, but it feels like a rivalry even before the shows have come out.

Legion is so fun to watch that I'm excited for this other X-show but I don't have high hopes for either, because I feel like the Inhumans show will just be Agents of SHIELD 2.

              • Yeah, neither network has a great track record. Considering the ratings for AoS, I doubt they'd want to really copy it (even though this season has probably been the best one). But I have found ABC pretty insufferable with the rest of their programming.

Then again, I'm still at least watching AoS. Can't say the same for Gotham. It's kind of a shame too since there was a fair bit of cool takes on the characters.

Has it been announced how many episodes the X-men show there will be? Inhumans only having 8 seems like a good sign. Seems like only the CW really pulls off the huge episode counts.

Somewhere between 10 and 13 was the last word I heard.

                        • Reviews for Iron Fist are starting to trickle out and they ain't exactly kind. Not a great sign for Inhumans either as Scott Buck is helming both.

                          • Yeah, I read some of reviews of Iron Fist and they are unkind saying that it's pretty boring and thus really lowers my expectations for the series. Hopefully, this will mean Netflix will shorten their Marvel series to about 8-10 episodes.

Anyway, I'll be sure to check out Iron Fist when it's available.
